Verdict: The Huawei Watch Fit 3 is an excellent Android-friendly fitness smartwatch with a bright AMOLED display, built-in GPS, Bluetooth calling, a remarkably light case, and battery life measured in days rather than hours. Its rectangular design closely resembles the Apple Watch, but its software is much closer to an advanced fitness tracker. It is a strong buy for Android users who value comfort and endurance; iPhone owners should treat it as a stylish fitness watch, not a true Apple Watch replacement.
Quick verdict
- Best for: Android users wanting a light, attractive watch for notifications, calls, sleep tracking, workouts, and long battery life.
- Also suitable for: iPhone owners who mainly want activity tracking, notifications, Bluetooth calls, and a lower-maintenance alternative to an Apple Watch.
- Not for: Serious runners needing advanced training analytics, app enthusiasts, or iPhone users who expect message replies and deep Apple Health integration.
- Key strengths: Comfortable 26g design, excellent display, useful fitness features, built-in GPS, and strong endurance.
- Key weaknesses: Huawei Health dependency, limited third-party app ecosystem, proprietary straps, regional feature differences, and substantial iPhone restrictions.
The most accurate description is simple: the Watch Fit 3 is an Apple Watch-style device, not an Apple Watch-equivalent device.
Design: familiar, light and comfortable
The Watch Fit 3 uses a rectangular case with rounded corners, a rotating crown, and a side function button. The overall design language is unmistakably reminiscent of the Apple Watch. That resemblance is central to its appeal, although calling it an exact clone would be misleading: Huawei’s watch is thinner, lighter, and built around a simpler fitness-focused operating system rather than watchOS.
The aluminum-alloy case measures 43.2 × 36.3 × 9.9mm and weighs approximately 26g without its strap. That low weight is one of the watch’s biggest practical advantages. It is comfortable for all-day wear and less intrusive during sleep tracking than many full-sized smartwatches.

- 101+ Workout Modes with Auto Detection – Automatically tracks common workouts for seamless fitness tracking. Advanced Health Tracking – Includes sleep coaching, SpO2, heart rate, and snore detection
- International Model No Warranty in the US. ONLY compatible with Android devices. Samsung Pay - Not Supported. NOT compatible with iPhone or iOS devices.
Build quality, touch responsiveness, and general performance have been praised in independent reviews, including testing by Android Headlines. The crown makes scrolling through menus and workout data easier than relying entirely on swipes, while the additional button provides a quick route to key functions.
Huawei offers several case colors and strap combinations, but the bands are proprietary. Check replacement availability and cost in your country before buying. A 5 ATM rating under ISO 22810:2010 makes the watch suitable for shallow-water activities such as pool swimming, but not diving, sauna use, hot showers, or high-speed water sports. Leather and metal straps should not be used for swimming or heavy sweating. See Huawei’s specifications and water-resistance guidance.
Display: a strong everyday screen
The 1.82-inch AMOLED panel has a 480 × 408 resolution and 347ppi pixel density. AMOLED contrast gives the interface strong blacks and vivid colors, while the rectangular shape provides useful space for notifications, health summaries, and workout data.
In daily use, the screen feels more like a conventional smartwatch than a basic activity band. Touch controls are responsive, and the rotating crown helps when scrolling. Raise-to-wake is adequate for normal use; an always-on display is more convenient but comes with a significant endurance penalty.
The display is a hardware strength, but it does not turn the Watch Fit 3 into a full app-based smartwatch. Most of what you see is Huawei’s own interface, built-in tools, notifications, and fitness information rather than a broad catalog of downloadable applications.
Battery life: the main reason to buy it
Huawei rates the Watch Fit 3 for up to 10 days in a maximum-use scenario, up to seven days under typical use, and up to four days with the always-on display enabled. These are manufacturer test conditions, not guarantees for every owner.
| Usage profile | Huawei’s claim |
|---|---|
| Maximum-use scenario | Up to 10 days |
| Typical-use scenario | Up to 7 days |
| Always-on display enabled | Up to 4 days |
Huawei’s maximum-use test includes limited Bluetooth calling and music playback, 90 minutes of GPS exercise per week, notifications, sleep tracking, and 200 screen activations per day. The typical-use test adds more exercise, stress and automatic SpO₂ monitoring, and 30 minutes of screen-on time daily. GPS-heavy training, frequent screen activation, poor Bluetooth conditions, and continuous health monitoring will reduce endurance.

Charging uses magnetic pins and a 5V/1A requirement. Huawei lists fast charging as a strength, but charging time depends on the charger and conditions; it should not be confused with the near-weekly endurance advantage.

Huawei Health is part of the product
Setup requires the Huawei Health app. The basic process is:
- Install Huawei Health and sign in or create a Huawei account if prompted.
- Open the app, choose Devices, and pair the Watch Fit 3.
- Grant Bluetooth, notification, location, and other requested permissions.
- Configure health measurements, notifications, watch faces, and workout preferences.
- On Android, allow Huawei Health to run in the background.
This dependency is an important ownership cost. Huawei Health handles pairing, watch-face management, synchronization, notifications, and much of the data experience. On some Android phones, aggressive battery optimization can stop it from running reliably.
If notifications do not appear, open Huawei Health > Devices > Watch Fit 3 > Notifications, enable notification synchronization, select the required apps, and grant Huawei Health notification access. On Android 13 or later, allow restricted settings where requested and remove aggressive background restrictions. Huawei’s notification setup guidance and troubleshooting page cover the relevant permissions.
Android experience: the better pairing
The Watch Fit 3 supports Android 8.0 and later. With a compatible Android phone, it can show notifications and incoming-call alerts, support Bluetooth calling, and offer message quick replies in supported cases. Availability depends on the phone, message app, message type, and software version.
Android also gets a more complete set of connected features. Huawei’s compatibility matrix lists local music support and broader access to certain health-research and phone-control features than iOS. This is still not the same experience as a Wear OS watch paired with Android: the app ecosystem and system integration are less extensive.
iPhone experience: compatible, but limited
Important: It pairs with an iPhone, but it is not an Apple Watch replacement.
The Watch Fit 3 supports iOS 13 and later. iPhone users can receive notifications and incoming-call alerts and can use the watch for workouts, sleep tracking, health metrics, and Bluetooth calls. However, Huawei’s compatibility guidance lists several restrictions:
- Message replies are unavailable.
- Voice assistant functionality is unavailable.
- Local music support is unavailable.
- Some heart-health and respiratory-health research features are unavailable.
- Some watch-face and phone-linked functions are restricted.
- Notification behavior such as muting alerts while using the phone is unavailable.
That makes the Watch Fit 3 a reasonable iPhone fitness watch, particularly for someone prioritizing battery life and hardware design. It is a poor choice for anyone who wants wrist-based message actions, Apple Pay, Siri, extensive Apple Health integration, or seamless Apple ecosystem continuity. Huawei’s Android/iOS compatibility table should be checked for region-specific details.

Health and sleep tracking
The hardware includes an optical heart-rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, ambient-light sensor, and a 9-axis inertial measurement unit. Available functions include heart-rate and activity metrics, SpO₂ monitoring, sleep tracking, stress measurements, breathing exercises, menstrual-cycle tracking, and pulse-wave arrhythmia analysis where supported by the platform and region.
These are wellness features, not clinical diagnoses. Wrist-based optical readings can vary with strap tightness, movement, sweat, temperature, skin contact, tattoos, exercise type, and device position. Do not use the Watch Fit 3 to diagnose, rule out, or treat a medical condition. Anyone with symptoms should use an appropriate medical device or consult a clinician.
Fitness and GPS
The watch includes built-in GPS, so it can record outdoor walks, runs, and rides without carrying a phone. It supports outdoor and indoor running and walking, cycling, swimming, elliptical training, rowing, jump rope, strength training, fitness classes, and free training. Huawei also lists 89 additional sports modes under Add Sports, although availability can vary by phone and region.
TechAdvisor found distance and average pace close to a dedicated running watch during some runs. That is encouraging, but it is not proof of universal GPS accuracy. Tall buildings, tree cover, a short activity before satellite lock, firmware issues, and poor sky visibility can all affect results. User reports are mixed, so the Watch Fit 3 is best suited to casual running, walking, gym sessions, and general activity rather than demanding training plans.
It is also important not to assume advanced multi-band or dual-frequency GPS: Huawei’s cited specification confirms GPS functionality but does not establish those capabilities. Buyers who need route navigation, recovery analytics, structured training metrics, or highly dependable long-distance tracking should look at Garmin and higher-end sports watches instead.
Notifications, calls and messaging
Notifications are mirrored from the paired phone through Huawei Health rather than handled by a full collection of independent watch apps. Android users may be able to send quick replies in supported situations; iPhone users cannot reply to messages from the watch.
Bluetooth calling lets you answer or reject calls from the watch when connected to a compatible phone. Call quality depends on the speaker, microphone, surrounding noise, and phone connection. It is useful for short conversations, but it is not a replacement for a phone in noisy outdoor environments.

If alerts stop working, check the phone’s own app notification settings, Huawei Health’s notification permissions, Bluetooth connectivity, Do Not Disturb, sleep mode, and Android background restrictions. The watch has no established cellular or eSIM capability in the cited specifications, so it is not a standalone connected watch.

Is there a real smartwatch app ecosystem?
The Watch Fit 3 includes useful built-in functions such as alarms, timers, weather, music control, flashlight, compass, workouts, health tools, and watch faces. That is enough for smartwatch basics, but it should not be confused with the third-party app ecosystems on Apple Watch or Wear OS.
Before buying, confirm whether the functions you need are actually available in your country. Google Maps, Spotify, Strava, transit apps, payment services, and independent messaging apps should not be assumed to work natively. Music support and other connected features also vary by phone platform. Huawei’s compatibility documentation lists local music as supported on Android but unavailable on iOS.
Watch Fit 3 versus Apple Watch
| Category | Better choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Battery life | Watch Fit 3 | Designed for multi-day use, with Huawei claiming up to seven days typically. |
| iPhone integration | Apple Watch | Deeper Apple Health, notification, safety, payment, and continuity features. |
| Android compatibility | Watch Fit 3 | Apple Watch is not an Android option. |
| Third-party apps | Apple Watch | Much broader and more mature app ecosystem. |
| Casual fitness | Close | The Huawei watch covers everyday workouts and wellness tracking well. |
| Serious training | Depends | Apple Watch has a stronger platform; Garmin is usually better for advanced sports analytics. |
| Comfort and charging convenience | Watch Fit 3 | Its light case and longer endurance reduce charging interruptions. |
The Watch Fit 3 is therefore a hardware and battery alternative to an Apple Watch, and often a capable casual-fitness alternative. It is not a software or iPhone-ecosystem equivalent.

How it compares with Android alternatives
- Samsung Galaxy Watch: Better Wear OS apps and Android integration, but generally shorter battery life and more model-specific compatibility considerations.
- Amazfit: Often competitive on endurance and fitness value, but software, GPS, health features, and app support vary considerably by model.
- Fitbit: Strong wellness identity, but model-specific GPS capabilities and subscription considerations matter.
- Garmin: Better for structured training, navigation, endurance sports, and detailed sports analytics, usually at a higher price and with less emphasis on smartwatch apps.
- Huawei Watch GT: Worth considering if you want a more traditional watch design and potentially broader health features, although GT models are generally larger and more expensive.
Do not compare these products using a single headline price: availability, warranty, accessories, subscriptions, and current promotions differ by country and model.
Who should buy the Huawei Watch Fit 3?
- Android users who want a comfortable everyday watch with long battery life.
- Walkers, casual runners, gym users, and general wellness trackers.
- People who want a large AMOLED screen without a heavy case.
- Buyers who prioritize notifications, calls, sleep, steps, and workouts over downloadable apps.
- iPhone owners who accept notification and fitness functionality without message replies or Apple-level integration.
Who should avoid it?
- iPhone users who expect Apple Watch-level messaging, payments, apps, or Apple Health integration.
- Serious runners and endurance athletes needing advanced training, navigation, recovery, or highly consistent GPS tools.
- Anyone who wants a large third-party app catalog.
- Buyers who require standard watch bands and effortless accessory availability.
- Anyone seeking clinically validated diagnosis or treatment guidance from a wrist wearable.
- Users who are uncomfortable installing and managing Huawei Health where it is not distributed through their usual Android app store.
- Anyone requiring cellular or eSIM independence.
Software support and regional checks
Features such as NFC, watch faces, health research, music, services, warranty coverage, and store availability can vary by market. Huawei’s accessed UK specification page lists a defined support period ending May 20, 2026. That date has passed, so buyers should verify Huawei’s current support policy or any extension before purchasing in 2026 rather than assuming the older listing remains current.
Likewise, no current US price should be treated as established from the cited material. The €159-plus figure reported by Android Headlines was a European review-era price signal, not a current September 2026 US price.
Final recommendation
For an Android owner, the Huawei Watch Fit 3 is a genuinely good smartwatch if “smartwatch” means a polished screen, notifications, calls, health tracking, GPS workouts, and convenient battery life. It is less compelling if you define a smartwatch by third-party apps, deep system integration, or standalone services.
For an iPhone owner, the recommendation is conditional. Buy it for the light design, battery endurance, workouts, sleep tracking, and basic alerts. Do not buy it expecting a cheaper Apple Watch with the same messaging, apps, payments, assistant, or Health integration.
Its Apple Watch resemblance gets attention, but its real advantage is more practical: it delivers a comfortable, attractive fitness-first experience without nightly charging. That makes it a strong Android choice and a cautious iPhone choice—not a universal Apple Watch substitute.
