Verdict: The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro is still a compelling luxury fitness watch, especially for Android and Huawei-phone owners who want titanium or ceramic construction, sapphire protection, a large AMOLED display, broad health tracking and multi-day battery life. It is not a full Apple Watch or Wear OS replacement: there is no eSIM, the app ecosystem is limited, iPhone functionality is reduced, and health features such as ECG depend on country, model and software.
The “ankle monitor” description is an appearance critique rather than a literal usability verdict. The 46.6mm titanium model is substantial, conspicuous and potentially uncomfortable on smaller wrists. It is beautifully made, but premium materials do not make its software ecosystem equally premium.

These specifications describe the titanium model. The ceramic edition is a more jewellery-oriented variant with a ceramic case and rear cover, and its size, strap combinations and availability differ by market. Check the official regional specifications for the exact version being sold.
Design: genuinely premium, unavoidably large
The GT 3 Pro earns its premium styling through real materials rather than decorative branding. The titanium model combines a titanium body with sapphire glass, while the ceramic model is aimed more directly at buyers who want a formal, jewellery-like watch. The rotating crown and physical buttons also give it the feel of a conventional timepiece instead of an enlarged fitness band.

The 1.43-inch display is large enough to make data, maps and workout screens easy to read. The trade-off is the case surrounding it. At 46.6mm wide and about 10.9mm thick, the titanium version is a poor choice for anyone who prefers discreet watches or has a small wrist. Its weight is manageable without a metal bracelet, but a titanium bracelet adds visual and physical heft.
Sapphire glass is more scratch-resistant than ordinary strengthened watch glass, but it is not indestructible. A hard impact can still damage the glass, bezel or case. The design is therefore excellent for appearance and day-to-day confidence, but not universally comfortable. Try to judge the fit by case diameter and thickness, not by strap length alone.
Display and controls
The AMOLED panel provides the contrast, colour and black levels expected from a high-end wearable. Touch gestures handle routine navigation, while the rotating crown is useful for scrolling through menus and workout data without covering the screen with a finger. A second physical button makes it easier to return to the watch face or launch controls during exercise.

Watch-face choice and marketplace availability can vary by region and Huawei account. The hardware is from 2022, so buyers should not assume that the current interface, firmware behaviour or watch-face catalogue is identical to launch reviews.
Health tracking: broad, but not a medical device
The watch includes optical heart-rate monitoring plus accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer and temperature sensors. Huawei’s health package covers:
- Heart-rate monitoring
- Blood-oxygen measurement (SpO₂)
- Sleep tracking
- Stress monitoring
- Skin-temperature measurement
- Breathing exercises
- Menstrual-cycle tracking
- ECG in supported markets
- Arterial-stiffness detection in supported markets
This is a useful wellness and screening feature set, but it should not be confused with independent clinical monitoring. Huawei says its Health measurements are for reference and should not be used as the basis for diagnosis or treatment. ECG and other measurements can be useful where supported, but they are not a substitute for clinical evaluation. Symptoms require medical attention, not watch troubleshooting.
Fit matters. A loose strap, movement, cold skin, tattoos, poor sensor contact and exercise intensity can all affect wrist measurements. SpO₂ should not be interpreted in isolation, and a single unusual reading is not automatically evidence of a health problem.
ECG is the biggest regional trap
ECG and arterial-stiffness detection are not universal GT 3 Pro features. Huawei’s compatibility material marks them as available only in some countries, and availability can depend on regulatory approval, firmware, Huawei Health version, account region and the precise regional model. Earlier reviews also recorded ECG changing from unavailable at launch to enabled in some European markets.
For a supported device, Huawei’s documented ECG path is:
- Update Huawei Health to the latest version available for your market.
- Open Huawei Health.
- Go to Heart.
- Select ECG.
Before buying an imported or used unit for ECG, confirm the exact model, original sales region, Huawei Health region, firmware support and local regulatory status. Do not rely on a seller’s generic “ECG included” description.

Fitness and sports tracking
The GT 3 Pro is strongest when treated as a fitness watch. It offers GPS tracking, workout modes, running courses and training programmes, workout auto-detection, heart-rate recording, Route Back navigation, swimming support and free-diving functions. Huawei’s product documentation describes the watch as supporting free-diving to 30 metres.
That 30-metre claim does not make the watch scuba or technical-diving equipment. Huawei states that the watch is not intended for scuba diving, technical diving or dives deeper than 30 metres. It also warns against hot showers, hot tubs, saunas, high-pressure water exposure and similar conditions. IP68 and 5 ATM are useful ratings, not a universal waterproof guarantee.
For swimming and appropriate shallow-water use, rinse the watch with fresh water after exposure to salt water and dry it carefully. Platform diving, steam, heat and water jets create risks outside the stated use case.
GPS and heart-rate accuracy
Independent reviews from the product’s launch period were generally positive about its design, battery life, fitness functions and heart-rate performance. TechRadar reported strong heart-rate results in its testing, while Android Authority referred to the related GT 3 for more detailed GPS analysis because the Pro uses the same dual-band, five-system GNSS hardware. Those are useful historical indications, not a guarantee of identical performance in 2026.
GPS performance depends on satellite visibility, surroundings, firmware and activity type. Tall buildings, tree cover and dense urban routes can reduce track quality. Optical heart-rate tracking can also struggle during intervals, strength training and rapid changes in effort. Serious athletes should consider a compatible chest strap where supported, and should not use wrist readings for medical decisions.

Battery life: the reason to buy it
Huawei rates the titanium model for up to 14 days in typical use and up to 8 days in heavy use. Those figures are manufacturer claims based on controlled scenarios, not a universal result.
Huawei’s typical-use scenario includes enabled heart-rate and sleep monitoring, 90 minutes of GPS workouts per week, notifications, around 200 screen activations per day, and limited Bluetooth calling and music playback. Its heavy-use scenario includes more exercise, stress monitoring and 30 minutes of screen-on time per day.
In practical terms, light use may approach the typical-use claim; mixed daily use will usually be lower; and frequent GPS, an always-on display, calls, music, high brightness and continuous monitoring can reduce endurance substantially. A used GT 3 Pro introduces another variable: battery ageing. A second-hand unit that once met Huawei’s claim may no longer do so.
The important advantage remains real even with conservative expectations. Charging every several days is less disruptive than charging a typical full-featured smartwatch every night. But buyers should evaluate the individual unit’s battery condition rather than paying a new-product price for old stock.
What “smartwatch” means here
The GT 3 Pro is better understood as a smart fitness watch than as a miniature smartphone. It can show notifications, provide incoming-call alerts, control music, run alarms and timers, display weather, compass and barometer information, offer watch faces and synchronise workout and health data through Huawei Health.

It also supports Bluetooth calling, but calls require a paired smartphone nearby. There is no SIM or eSIM, so it cannot provide genuinely phone-independent cellular calls or mobile data. This is the dividing line between the GT 3 Pro and cellular Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or other LTE models.
Apps and payments
Third-party apps are downloaded through Watch AppGallery inside Huawei Health, where supported. That is enough for users who want a focused collection of utilities, but the ecosystem is much narrower than watchOS or Wear OS. App, watch-face, NFC and payment support can all vary by country.
The result is coherent and relatively low-maintenance, but limited. If you need a large selection of apps, rich messaging, universal tap-to-pay support or the ability to leave your phone behind, this is the wrong category of watch.
Android and iPhone compatibility
The GT 3 Pro is documented as compatible with Android and iOS, but “compatible” does not mean feature parity. Huawei support material cites HarmonyOS 2 or later, Android 8.0 or later and iOS 9.0 or later in the referenced documentation; regional pages may present requirements differently. Check the support page for your market before purchase.
Android
Huawei-phone owners are likely to receive the most integrated experience. Other Android phones can also be supported, but setup may involve installing Huawei Health outside the Google Play ecosystem, using Huawei Mobile Services or related components, and granting notification, Bluetooth and background-operation permissions. The exact process depends on region and phone manufacturer.
Pair the watch through Huawei Health rather than relying only on the phone’s Bluetooth settings. If pairing fails, confirm the regional app, operating-system requirement and permissions; update Huawei Health and the watch; remove an old Bluetooth pairing; and reset the watch only after confirming that important data has synchronised.
iPhone
iPhone owners can pair the GT 3 Pro, but the experience is more restricted than on Android. Huawei’s compatibility table identifies limitations including unavailable SMS replies. Other ecosystem functions may also differ by iOS version, region and app revision.

Buy this watch with an iPhone only if notifications, health tracking, workouts and long battery life matter more than Apple-style messaging, apps, payments and deep system integration. If seamless iPhone integration is the priority, Apple Watch is the more natural choice.
What is missing?
- LTE or eSIM: calls and phone-dependent features require a nearby paired phone.
- A broad app ecosystem: Watch AppGallery is more limited than watchOS and Wear OS.
- Universal payments: NFC and payment support are market-dependent.
- Full messaging: iPhone users in particular lose reply functionality.
- Universal ECG: the feature depends on country, model, app, firmware and regulatory status.
- Current flagship longevity: this is a 2022 product, so software support, replacement parts, battery condition and warranty matter in 2026.
Is it worth buying in 2026?
Potentially, but only under the right conditions. The GT 3 Pro can be a sensible used or refurbished purchase if the price reflects its age, the battery condition is documented, the seller provides a meaningful warranty, and the exact regional model supports the features you need. A product page remaining online does not establish current stock, support duration or a dependable 2026 retail price.
Do not buy an imported unit at a premium simply because its listing mentions ECG, NFC or a particular watch face. Regional restrictions, warranty boundaries and Huawei-account settings can change the experience. If a newer Huawei GT or Pro model costs only slightly more, compare its current support, sensors and warranty before choosing the older watch.

Good fit
- Android users who prioritise multi-day battery life.
- Huawei-phone owners seeking the most integrated experience.
- Buyers who want a traditional-looking watch with titanium, sapphire or ceramic construction.
- People who want a large, bright display and extensive recreational workout tracking.
- Swimmers and recreational free-divers who understand the 30-metre limit and Huawei’s exclusions.
- Used-watch buyers able to verify regional features, battery condition and warranty.
Poor fit
- iPhone users seeking Apple Watch-level integration.
- Anyone who requires LTE or eSIM.
- Heavy third-party-app users.
- Buyers who require guaranteed ECG access.
- Small-wristed users who dislike large, heavy watches.
- Serious athletes who need the deepest training and recovery ecosystem.
- Anyone purchasing it primarily as a medical device.
- Readers expecting current flagship smartwatch software in 2026.

The Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro remains worth considering as a premium, long-lasting fitness watch. Buy it for the materials, display, health and fitness breadth, and endurance; reject it if its size, phone dependence or regional restrictions undermine those priorities.
