Most Fitbits cannot be remotely tracked after they are lost or stolen. Google’s current Fitbit instructions let you check the device’s last sync, return to the suspected area with your phone and try to sync, or use a nearby Bluetooth-finder app. The important exception is a Fitbit Inspire 2 with Tile installed and activated before it went missing; Tile may ring it nearby or update its last known location through the Tile network.
Fitbit GPS records exercise routes. It generally does not provide a live map of the wearable after it leaves your wrist.
The short answer: usually no
Ordinary Fitbit trackers and watches do not have a general-purpose cellular locator, owner-controlled live map, remote alarm or documented remote-theft mode. Google’s current lost-device guidance focuses on last sync, a nearby sync attempt and Bluetooth discovery: Google’s lost Fitbit instructions.

Google’s Fitbit-specific instructions also do not present ordinary Fitbit hardware as a remotely trackable Google Find Hub device. That ecosystem and Fitbit product capabilities can change, so check model-specific documentation for future products rather than assuming that a Pixel phone or third-party tag feature applies to a Fitbit.
What to try first
- Check the last sync. Open the Google Health/Fitbit app and note the most recent successful communication.
- Search the last likely places. Take the paired phone to the gym, car, office, locker room or other suspected area.
- Attempt a sync. If the Fitbit connects, it is probably within Bluetooth range, although walls, vehicles, lockers and radio interference can prevent a connection.
- Try a Bluetooth-finder app. Google names LightBlue Explorer for iPhone and Bluetooth Finder for Android in its guidance: official instructions. These are proximity aids, not Fitbit anti-theft services, and their menus and availability can vary by operating system and region.
- Use Tile only if you had an eligible Inspire 2 setup. Follow the Tile steps below.
A Bluetooth search works only while the Fitbit has battery power, Bluetooth is functioning, the phone has the required permissions and the device is close enough to communicate. Signal strength may suggest proximity but is not a guaranteed distance measurement.
The Fitbit Inspire 2 exception
Inspire 2 is the only Fitbit specifically covered by the current Tile finding instructions. Tile had to be configured before the loss: the Tile app installed through the Google Health/Fitbit app and on the phone, a Tile account created or connected, Bluetooth and location permissions granted, and the feature activated. Installing Tile after the Inspire 2 is gone normally cannot complete that setup.

If the Inspire 2 may be nearby
- Open the Tile app.
- Select the Inspire 2.
- Tap Find.
- If Tile detects it, the Inspire 2 vibrates.
- Tap Done after recovery.
If it has left Bluetooth range
Open the Inspire 2 entry in Tile and check Location History for the last known connection. Turn on Notify When Found so Tile can alert you if another participating device detects it. This is a Bluetooth-and-network system, not cellular GPS: the tracker needs battery power and a nearby phone that can detect it before the network can update its location. Details are in Google’s support instructions and Google’s announcement at blog.google.
Do not confront a person or enter private property because Tile or Bluetooth indicates a location. Treat a map point as a lead for venue staff or law enforcement, not proof of identity or permission to recover the device yourself.
Why Fitbit GPS cannot find a stolen device
Fitbit uses three different location arrangements, but none is a general anti-theft beacon. Supported models can use built-in GPS, connected GPS from the phone, or no route-capable GPS. Google explains the distinction in its GPS support documentation.

GPS on a Fitbit tells you where a workout happened. It generally does not tell you where the Fitbit is now. A stored run map belongs to that exercise session and is not a record of a thief’s route.

Similarly, Find My Phone works in the opposite direction: a nearby Fitbit can make the phone ring. It does not let the phone remotely locate a missing Fitbit.
What to do if you believe it was stolen
- Preserve details. Record the model, serial number, color, band, purchase record, last sync time and last known place.
- Report it through the location where it disappeared. Contact a gym, hotel, employer, school, transit operator or police department as appropriate. Provide the serial number and proof of purchase.
- Secure your Google Account. If you suspect broader account compromise, change the password, review signed-in devices and inspect recent security events.
- Review payment settings. On supported Fitbit Pay or contactless-payment devices, check the cards and transactions associated with the account. Suica has separate removal requirements.
- Contact Google Health/Fitbit support. Support can address account and device issues, but the public guidance does not promise live location assistance, an IMEI-style blacklist, remote locking, guaranteed recovery or universal theft reimbursement: Google Health/Fitbit support.
Google states that after February 2, 2026, users cannot access Fitbit with a Fitbit account, so current app and support access depends on a Google Account.

Can you remotely erase or lock a Fitbit?
There is no documented remote lock or remote-wipe workflow in the current lost-device instructions. Google’s erase page describes actions performed on the physical device, including model-dependent factory-reset or clear-user-data procedures: device erasure instructions.
For devices not otherwise listed, Google says data is automatically cleared when the device is paired to a new account. Sense and Versa models have separate factory-reset steps, and several Inspire models have clear-user-data instructions. Automatic clearing is not a remote lock: it may protect stored information but can also remove evidence that could help identify the owner. Keep the serial number and purchase proof regardless.
On devices that support contactless payments, a physical erase removes personal information, saved settings and credit or debit cards. That statement concerns erasure performed on the device; it does not establish that removing the Fitbit from your account instantly disables a stolen unit.

Recovery expectations by situation

Prevent the next loss
If finding the wearable matters, attach a separate tracker to the band, case, lanyard or gym pouch before it disappears. The tag tracks itself; it does not turn Fitbit GPS into an always-on locator.
Tile Mate
Tile Mate can ring when nearby and show a most-recent location when detected outside Bluetooth range. The official US store listed a $24.99 one-pack price on August 16, 2026; prices can change: official Tile Mate page. Core finding works without a subscription. Tile’s published US pricing lists Premium at $2.99 monthly or $29.99 annually and Premium Protect at $99.99 annually; new subscribers may receive a 30-day trial under plan terms. Features and reimbursement eligibility are governed by Tile’s current terms: pricing and plan overview. A subscription is not required just to ring a nearby tag.
Apple Find My- and Google Find Hub-compatible tags
Apple-oriented households may prefer an Apple Find My-compatible tag; Android households may prefer a Google Find Hub-compatible tag. Compatibility, network coverage, privacy behavior, batteries and prices vary by manufacturer. These tags still must be attached to the Fitbit or its case and are not Fitbit features.

A cellular GPS wearable is a different, generally more expensive and battery-intensive category. Consider one only if continuous remote location is a core requirement; Fitbit workout GPS is not a substitute.
Bottom line by model
For Charge, Inspire 3, Luxe, Sense, Versa and most other Fitbit devices, begin with the last-sync time and a careful nearby Bluetooth search, then secure your account and report the loss. For an Inspire 2 that already had Tile activated, use Tile’s Find, Location History and Notify When Found tools. In every case, GPS workout maps are exercise records—not a live trail of a missing Fitbit.
