Meta Ray-Ban Display is a released product, not a future announcement: it went on sale in the United States on September 30, 2025, for a starting price of $799, including the glasses and Meta Neural Band. It adds a small, full-color display in one lens to Ray-Ban-style smart glasses, for glanceable directions, captions, messages and AI information—not a full-field augmented-reality view. Ray-Ban’s current FAQ lists U.S. availability; buyers elsewhere should check local availability rather than assume the planned international rollout happened.
Release date, availability and price
Meta announced the glasses and Neural Band at Meta Connect on September 17, 2025. U.S. retail availability began September 30, 2025. Ray-Ban’s current FAQ lists the Display model as available in the United States. Meta originally said it planned to expand to Canada, France, Italy and the United Kingdom in early 2026, but that plan is not confirmation of current availability in those countries. Check the current Ray-Ban FAQ for the latest market information.
The U.S. starting price is $799 for the glasses and Neural Band together. Prescription lenses, taxes and customized configurations can increase the final price. Ray-Ban lists the box contents as the glasses, charging case and USB-C cable, cleaning cloth, Neural Band and its charger, and quick-start, safety and warranty guides.

What the display does—and what it does not
The Display model is a tier above screenless Ray-Ban Meta glasses: it retains cameras, microphones, open-ear audio and Meta AI, and adds a monocular full-color display in the right lens. The display is designed for short glances at information rather than sustained viewing. It is not a conventional binocular headset or a full-field AR system.
- Directions: View turn-by-turn walking directions and a visual map.
- Communication: See incoming-message previews and reply; Meta also describes support for multimedia messages and video-call information.
- Translation and captions: View live captions and translated speech where the feature is supported.
- Meta AI: Glance at visual answers and other contextual information.
- Media: See items such as album art, imagery and book covers.
Meta’s launch announcement and Ray-Ban’s current product page describe these uses. Availability can depend on country, language, account eligibility and software rollout; feature support should not be assumed identical everywhere.
How the Meta Neural Band works
The Neural Band is a wrist-worn controller that uses electromyography (EMG) to detect electrical signals associated with subtle muscle activity. It interprets certain hand and finger movements as commands for the glasses, allowing discreet interaction without repeatedly touching the frame or speaking aloud. “Neural” does not mean it reads thoughts: it is not a brain implant or direct brain-computer interface.

The band has its own sensors, compute module, button, LED and haptic feedback, and Ray-Ban lists small, medium and large sizes. The standard $799 package includes it. The glasses can also be controlled by touch and voice, so the band is not the only way to use them. The current product page lists up to 18 hours of Neural Band battery life.
Pairing the band
- Open the Meta AI mobile app and sign in to a Meta account.
- Tap the glasses icon at the bottom right, then the plus icon at the top right.
- Swipe down, select Meta Neural Band and follow the on-screen steps.
- To power on the band, hold its button for two seconds until the LED flashes white and it vibrates. To power it off, hold the button for eight seconds until the LED goes dark and it vibrates.
These steps follow Ray-Ban’s setup FAQ. If the band does not appear, check that Bluetooth is enabled, the devices have charge, the app is signed in and permissions are enabled; Android users should also check location services. Ray-Ban says unpairing may require removing the glasses from the phone’s Bluetooth device list as well as unpairing within the app.

The following figures are listed on Ray-Ban’s current U.S. product page and FAQ; battery figures are maximum claims rather than guarantees of everyday runtime.

There is a published difference in the case-battery estimate: Meta’s September 2025 launch announcement said up to 30 hours of total use with the case, while Ray-Ban’s current retail page lists up to 24 hours. The current product-page figure is the more relevant one for a buyer comparing today’s listing; neither figure guarantees a particular runtime under a given pattern of use.
Prescription compatibility
Ray-Ban says the Display glasses can be ordered with prescription lenses through participating certified retailers. Its FAQ lists an eligible range of -4.00 to +4.00 total power. That does not cover every prescription, and the glasses’ starting price does not mean every prescription configuration costs $799. Check eligibility and the final lens price with the retailer before ordering.
Phone, app and connectivity requirements
Neural Band setup requires the glasses, band, a supported smartphone, the Meta AI app and a Meta account. Ray-Ban’s FAQ specifies Android 10 or later with location services enabled, or iOS 14.4 or later. Meta AI, importing captured media and software updates require wireless internet access.

Some basic functions can work without a connection to the Meta AI app: Ray-Ban says the glasses can capture photos and videos, report battery status and play audio over Bluetooth. Calls, messaging and services such as Spotify are among the product’s connected capabilities, but their behavior depends on phone and app connectivity. Feature availability can vary by location, language, account and app version.

In March 2026, Meta announced Neural Handwriting and glanceable Reminders, Weather, Stocks and Calendar widgets for its Display glasses, alongside updates including Instagram Reels, personalized Spotify shortcuts, WhatsApp summaries and recall by Meta AI. The announcement is at Meta’s March 2026 update. These are software features, not guaranteed features of every account or region at every moment.

Meta Ray-Ban Display vs. screenless Ray-Ban Meta
The screenless Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 is a separate product family. It offers cameras, audio and Meta AI without the in-lens display or Neural Band. Official Ray-Ban examples include the Skyler Gen 2 and Scriber Optics Gen 2.

The comparison prices are examples of listed U.S. configurations, not universal prices for every style or prescription. Gen 2 weight is model-specific; the Display model’s listed 68–70 g figure should not be applied to it.
Limitations, safety and privacy
- Battery and weight: The listed maximum is six hours for the glasses, and the frame weighs 68–70 g. Intensive display, camera, audio, calls and AI use can affect runtime; “up to” is not an all-day guarantee.
- Display expectations: The 20-degree monocular screen is for glanceable information, not films, a phone replacement or full-field AR.
- Phone dependence: Setup and key connected features rely on a supported phone, app, account and connectivity.
- Water: IPX4 indicates resistance to splashes, not waterproofing or submersion. Follow the FAQ’s care guidance and dry the glasses before placing them in the case.
- Privacy: The product has a camera and microphones. Respect venue rules and the privacy of people nearby; recording and consent laws vary by jurisdiction.
- Band: The discreet gesture interface requires wearing and separately charging a wristband, even though touch and voice controls remain available.
Should you buy Meta Ray-Ban Display?
Consider it if you specifically want glanceable visual information—especially walking directions, captions, translations or messages—without taking out a phone, and you are comfortable with the $799 starting price, the added frame weight and a separate wristband. Prescription wearers should first confirm that their prescription falls within the stated range and that a participating retailer can supply it.
If you mainly want hands-free photos, calls, music and AI, the screenless Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 examples cost less and avoid paying for a display you may rarely use. Waiting also makes sense if you need wider regional availability, a lighter frame, longer stated glasses runtime or software features that are still rolling out. The choice is less about which is universally better than whether visual information in the lens is worth the premium to you.
