Verdict: The MiFone L58 was an attractive, inexpensive Bluetooth watch when it appeared around 2016, but it is not a practical modern smartwatch. Its round aluminum design, basic activity tracking, alarms and call alerts remain appealing; however, uncertain app support, aging batteries, obsolete phone compatibility and limited sensors make it a risky purchase today. It was also sold under the name iNew P1.
What is the MiFone L58?
The MiFone L58 is a basic Bluetooth notification watch and fitness tracker from roughly 2016. It is better understood as a simple wearable than as a modern smartwatch: it has no cellular connection, GPS, app platform or verified current software ecosystem.
MiFone should not be confused with Xiaomi’s Mi brand. The two companies are unrelated, and the MiFone name does not imply Xiaomi manufacturing, support or compatibility. Contemporary coverage also identified the L58 under the alternate name iNew P1.
Historical coverage placed its launch price around $16–$20. That is not a useful current value benchmark: availability, battery condition and companion-app support are now more important than the original price.

Contemporary coverage of the MiFone L58
Design and display
Design was the L58’s strongest feature. Published specifications describe a slim, round aluminum case measuring approximately 40 mm across and 6.8 mm thick, weighing about 30 grams. It was sold in black and white versions with a fluoroelastomer or rubber-style strap roughly 228 mm long. Some retailer-era listings refer to aluminum 603 or 6063; those alloy descriptions should be treated as published specifications rather than independently verified metallurgy.
The watch reportedly has no physical buttons and uses its touch-sensitive display for operation. Its circular monochrome OLED measures about 0.66 inches and has only 64×48 pixels. That was modest even at launch and is extremely limited by current smartwatch standards. Expect basic symbols, short alerts and simple screens—not a readable miniature smartphone interface.
The minimalist case can still appeal to someone who wants a watch-like shape rather than a rectangular fitness band. But the attractive hardware cannot offset obsolete software or the difficulty of finding replacement chargers and straps.

Fitness and sleep tracking
Contemporary reviews reported a pedometer, distance and calorie estimates, activity or sports-trajectory recording and sleep monitoring. These features may be adequate for a rough daily step reminder, but there is no evidence in the available coverage of validated accuracy testing.
The L58 has no credible evidence of heart-rate monitoring. It therefore cannot provide dependable resting-heart-rate trends, heart-rate zones, workout intensity, blood-oxygen readings or ECG functions. “Sleep monitoring” should likewise not be interpreted as sleep-apnea detection, clinical sleep staging or medical advice.

Even basic history depends on the companion app. If the app is unavailable or its server no longer works, the watch may still count locally while making stored data difficult or impossible to retrieve.
Notifications and calling
The L58 was reported to vibrate for incoming calls, show caller information and provide message reminders. Some descriptions also mention Bluetooth calling or call-related controls. These claims should not be confused with independent calling: the watch has no cellular network or SIM support and must rely on a paired phone.
There is also an important distinction between receiving a notification and reading a message. One contemporary report says the watch could identify the sender without displaying the complete SMS. Actual behavior may vary with the phone operating system, notification permissions, language, message type and companion app.
In practical terms, treat the L58 as a possible wrist alert for calls and short notifications—not as a dependable messaging or communications device.

Battery and charging
Published specifications list a 120 mAh lithium-polymer battery. Historical coverage claimed about two hours for charging, up to 30 days on standby and approximately two to three days with normal or medium use.

Those are historical claims for a new device. A unit manufactured around 2016 may now have substantially reduced capacity, intermittent charging, a failed battery or dangerous swelling. A missing proprietary or model-specific charger is another common risk with old wearables.
Do not charge or use a watch that becomes unusually hot, smells abnormal or has a visibly swollen case. Ask the seller to demonstrate both charging and actual operation rather than relying on a listing that repeats the original battery specification.
Water resistance: do not swim with it
The L58 is frequently described as IP67 or water- and dust-resistant. Even the contemporary coverage warned that it was not intended for swimming or diving. IP67 is a historical product claim, not a guarantee that every surviving unit remains sealed.
Old seals, adhesives and case joints can deteriorate. Prior drops, repairs and charging wear add further uncertainty. Treat a used L58 as unsuitable for swimming, showering and prolonged water exposure, regardless of the listing’s IP67 wording.

Phone compatibility and the biggest 2026 risk
Historical specifications listed compatibility with Android 4.0–6.0 and iOS 7.0–9.3. Those versions describe the software environment of the period; they do not establish compatibility with current Android or iOS releases in 2026.
No current official MiFone support page, verified app listing, manual or working compatibility statement was established in the available material. This makes the app a more important buying consideration than the feature list.
Before buying, verify all of these points
- The companion app is still available for your exact phone and operating-system version.
- The app can install, create an account and connect to its server.
- The watch can be reset and is not locked to a previous owner’s phone.
- Bluetooth permissions and notification access work on your phone.
- The app supports your language and region.
- The seller can demonstrate pairing, notifications and charging.
- The correct charging accessory is included and functional.
If the app has disappeared or its server is offline, the watch might still show the time and perform some local functions. Synchronization, activity history, setup and notifications may not work.
Historical hardware specifications
Contemporary databases commonly list Bluetooth 4.0, an accelerometer, 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM or storage. These figures are historical specifications, not indicators of modern performance. They do not create an app ecosystem or make the L58 comparable with current Wear OS, watchOS or modern fitness platforms.

Who should buy the MiFone L58?
It may make sense for a narrow audience: someone who likes its small round design, wants basic alarms and vibration, needs only rough step counts or call alerts, and can buy a tested unit very cheaply. It could also be an interesting vintage wearable or design novelty.

It is a poor choice for anyone who needs dependable current-phone notifications, GPS, heart-rate data, swimming support, health metrics, payments, independent calling, official updates, replacement parts or long-term battery reliability.
Buying advice and alternatives
Do not buy based solely on an old review, a repeated specification sheet or the promise of “30-day battery life.” Require evidence that the specific unit powers on, charges, pairs with your phone and receives a notification. A return option is particularly valuable because app and battery failures may only appear after setup.
If dependable software and health tracking matter, choose a current entry-level fitness band or a used mainstream smartwatch with an active app ecosystem. If you want maximum battery life without pairing risk, a simple digital watch is a safer choice. A current budget Bluetooth watch is worth considering only when its companion app, support status and phone compatibility can be verified.
Final verdict
The MiFone L58 was a good-looking, inexpensive basic wearable for its time. Its circular aluminum body, simple alerts and modest activity functions were appealing, but its 64×48 monochrome display and limited sensor package were never close to modern smartwatch capability.
In 2026, the decisive question is not whether the L58 once offered steps, sleep tracking or call alerts. It is whether a particular surviving unit has a healthy battery, a working charger and a companion app that still pairs with your phone. Buy only as a very cheap, tested vintage gadget. For a reliable everyday smartwatch, choose a currently supported model instead.
