Samsung began rolling out One UI 6.1 to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+ in South Korea on May 14, 2024. The same update cycle brought the Galaxy Fit3 its first firmware update. The tablet release added interface and productivity refinements, but did not include the Galaxy AI package promoted for selected flagship devices. The Fit3 patch focused on notification usability and stability.
Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE+ update: what to know
The 2024 update brought both the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ to One UI 6.1, based on Android 14. The reported security patch was dated April 1, 2024. Samsung began the rollout in South Korea; availability elsewhere followed on regional and carrier schedules, not all at once. The initial rollout report and Samsung’s firmware record for the Tab S9 FE+ 5G document the release.
One Wi-Fi Tab S9 FE update listing showed a download of 2,502.96 MB—about 2.5 GB. The actual package can differ with model and existing software, so check the size shown on your own tablet and make room before downloading.

Reported Korean builds included X510XXU3BXDG and X516NKOU3BXDF for Tab S9 FE variants, and X610XXU3BXE1 and X616NKOU3BXDF for FE+ variants. Samsung’s record for the Tab S9 FE+ 5G lists X616BXXU3BXDG. These are examples, not a universal build number: Wi-Fi versus 5G, model suffix, country and carrier can all matter. Use the model number shown in your device settings when checking a firmware listing.

What One UI 6.1 changed on the FE tablets
Reported changes included Samsung Gallery tools for copying or moving a subject between images, additional photo-editing options, more wallpaper customization, and new or improved lock-screen widgets. The update also brought multitasking refinements, calendar and weather-widget changes, Samsung Health improvements, and general bug fixes and performance refinements. Samsung’s regional release notes provide device-specific details.
These are One UI interface and productivity updates, not the complete feature set available on every Samsung device running One UI 6.1.

Important: the Tab S9 FE did not get the advertised Galaxy AI bundle
The Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE+ were not included in Samsung’s One UI 6.1 Galaxy AI expansion. Samsung named selected devices such as the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and flagship Galaxy Tab S9 series; that announcement should not be read as covering the Tab S9 FE models. The FE tablets received One UI 6.1’s conventional interface and productivity changes, not the flagship Galaxy AI package. See Samsung’s Galaxy AI device announcement.
Galaxy Fit3’s first firmware update
The first reported Galaxy Fit3 firmware release was build R390XXU0AXE1, with a download of approximately 21.04 MB. It initially appeared in South Korea, with other markets expected to follow. Its changelog highlighted improved notification-operation usability and general stability—not a major new feature set. The Fit3 update report and a Samsung Community listing describe the release.

Some Fit3 owners hoped the patch would fix step-counting problems, but the published changelog did not promise a step-counter correction. A band that continues to miscount after updating is not, by that fact alone, evidence that installation failed. Notification behavior can also depend on the connected phone’s notification permissions, Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health software, as well as the band firmware.
How to check for and install the updates
On a Galaxy Tab S9 FE or FE+
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update (some versions or regions may show System updates).
- Tap Download and install and review the update information.
- Download over Wi-Fi, then follow the prompts to install and restart.
For a package of roughly 2.5 GB, use a reliable Wi-Fi connection, keep the tablet charged, and ensure adequate free storage. Samsung’s software-update support instructions note that menu labels and release details can vary by device and carrier.

On a Galaxy Fit3
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app on the connected phone.
- Open the band settings and tap Band software update.
- Choose Download and install, then keep the band near the phone and avoid using it during installation.
The wording can vary slightly with the app version. Keep both devices charged and connected while the update runs.

If the update does not appear
A missing update immediately after the announcement does not mean the device is unsupported. Samsung releases firmware in stages, and rollout timing can differ by country, carrier and exact model.

- Check the tablet’s full model number, including its Wi-Fi or 5G variant and regional suffix.
- Consider whether the device is carrier-branded or imported; it may follow its original sales region’s schedule.
- Restart the device and check again later. For the Fit3, check through Galaxy Wearable rather than the tablet’s Settings menu.
- Install available updates to Galaxy Wearable and related Samsung apps if notifications or syncing remain troublesome.
- Use Samsung’s support or firmware information for your specific model and region. Avoid manually flashing firmware for another region unless you understand the compatibility and recovery risks.
