If your OnePlus Watch 2 prompts a Google warning that OHealth is trying to access sensitive information in your Google Account, OnePlus said an OHealth update fixes the issue. The warning was reported on May 13, 2024, and the company attributed it to a verification problem in OHealth’s Google Fit integration. Its update moved that integration to Health Connect. Update OHealth from Google Play before approving any unexpected access request.
What was the warning?
Some OnePlus Watch 2 owners saw a Google security screen while opening watch data in OHealth. The message said OHealth was trying to access sensitive information in the user’s Google Account. Because Google flagged the authorization, the screen could look like evidence of an account compromise—but the warning alone does not prove that the watch or account was hacked.
OnePlus said it received reports first from users in India and then from Europe and North America. It did not say that every Watch 2 owner was affected.

In a May 13, 2024 community statement, OnePlus attributed the popup to a technical failure in verification between OHealth and Google Fit, associated with a background configuration change. The company also pointed to Google Fit’s transition away from its older integration model. This is OnePlus’s diagnosis; the available information does not independently establish fault by Google or OnePlus.

Google’s Google Fit verification guidance explains that health and fitness data uses sensitive or restricted permissions and that apps must meet verification requirements. A warning can therefore reflect an authorization or verification problem, rather than being proof of malware or stolen data.
How to update OHealth
- On the Android phone paired with your watch, open the Google Play Store.
- Search for OHealth. This is the simplest route if Play Store menu labels differ on your phone.
- Check that the listing is the official OHealth app from OnePlus, then tap Update if the button is available.
- When the update finishes, reopen OHealth and try the watch-data screen again.
- If OHealth presents a permission or connection prompt, review what it requests and proceed only if it is the expected OHealth flow and the access makes sense for the feature you are using.
OnePlus said the updated app had been released through Google Play for users across regions and migrated the relevant integration to Health Connect. The company said users should then be able to use OHealth normally. Its statement did not specify a version number or guarantee that rollout timing and behavior would be identical on every phone.

What Health Connect does
Health Connect is an Android layer for sharing health data between compatible apps, with access controlled through health-data permissions. In this case, OnePlus said it was the new integration route for OHealth instead of the affected Google Fit connection. That does not, by itself, establish that every Google Fit feature behaves identically in OHealth after the change.
If the warning is still there
Try the least disruptive checks first:
- Return to the Play Store listing and confirm OHealth actually updated; seeing the app installed does not confirm it is current.
- Close OHealth, restart the phone, and open the app again. An earlier authorization attempt may remain in the app’s current state until it is relaunched.
- Check for updates to Google Play Store and Google Play services, then retry.
- Confirm the phone is signed into the Google Account you intend to connect to the watch, especially if you use multiple accounts.
- Review OHealth’s account or connection settings and Health Connect permissions. If OHealth provides a reconnect or reauthorization option, use that rather than repeatedly accepting an old or unexpected warning.
If the warning persists, pause rather than granting access automatically. Contact OnePlus support or use the OnePlus community thread about the OHealth issue. Reinstalling or clearing app data should not be your first move: it can remove local app state and may require reconnecting or pairing again. If you eventually need to reinstall, first make sure recent watch data has synchronized.

Does this mean your data was stolen or the watch is defective?
The available reports do not establish a data breach, but they also do not amount to an independent forensic finding that no data was accessed. OnePlus said the popup came from a verification and configuration failure and that it changed the integration. Google’s documentation confirms that health-data authorization is sensitive and subject to verification and consent rules. A warning is not proof of compromise; it is still a reason to verify the app and prompt before granting access.
The reported cause and remedy concern OHealth’s phone-app integration, not the Watch 2’s display, sensors, battery, or other hardware. There is no evidence in the available material that the watch itself had failed.
