Short answer: RingConn Gen 2 is the better value, while Oura Ring 4 remains the better overall experience. RingConn wins on battery life, comfort, charging convenience, and subscription-free ownership. Oura wins on app quality, sleep and recovery interpretation, stress insights, women’s-health features, and ecosystem maturity.
There is one important date caveat: Oura’s support documentation updated in 2026 references an Oura Ring 5 sizing kit. That means Ring 4 may no longer be Oura’s newest generation in every market. This comparison is therefore best understood as a Ring 4 versus RingConn Gen 2 buying guide—not proof that Ring 4 is still Oura’s flagship. Check Oura’s current range before buying.

Both rings are screen-free, passive wellness trackers. They collect overlapping signals such as sleep duration and stages, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate, skin-temperature trends, blood-oxygen trends, steps, activity, stress, recovery, and menstrual-cycle information.

Neither is a smartwatch. You do not get a screen, full notifications, reliable standalone GPS, calls, or the breadth of live workout metrics offered by an Apple Watch, Garmin, or Galaxy Watch. Neither should replace a clinical sleep study or be treated as a medical diagnostic device.
The key difference is what happens after measurement. Oura’s advantage is its interpretation layer: it turns readings into baselines, scores, trends, and recommendations. RingConn gives you broad access to health trends without a recurring fee, but its more graph-oriented presentation may require you to draw more conclusions yourself.
Price: the subscription changes the result
Oura Ring 4 starts at $349 in the cited US comparison, before membership. Oura’s US membership costs $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year, with one complimentary month for new members. Without an active membership, the ring retains only limited functionality, including the three daily scores, battery information, basic profile and settings, and Explore content. See Oura’s membership terms for current details.

| Ownership period | Oura Ring 4 | RingConn Gen 2 | Oura premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | $418.99 | $299 | $119.99 |
| Two years | $488.98 | $299 | $189.98 |
| Three years | $558.97 | $299 | $259.97 |
These examples use a $349 Oura ring and the $69.99 annual US membership rate. They exclude tax, discounts, replacement purchases, accessories, and retailer promotions. At that annual rate, membership costs overtake RingConn’s $299 hardware price after roughly 2.86 years.
That recurring fee is not merely a small monthly add-on: it determines whether Oura’s main software features remain available after you have bought the hardware. Canceling does not delete your existing Oura data, which remains stored in your account and can be exported, but there is no membership-pause option. Annual plans are generally not partially refundable after the complimentary period, and returning hardware does not automatically cancel membership.
Design, comfort, and sizing
RingConn has the clear hardware advantage for users who dislike bulky wearables. Independent testing measured the Gen 2 at about 2mm thick and 2–3g, compared with approximately 2.8mm and 3.3–5.2g for Oura Ring 4, depending on size.
Recommended Free Tools
That difference is most noticeable overnight, while typing, lifting weights, wearing gloves, or placing the ring beside another ring. Independent testing found RingConn more comfortable overall.
Oura counters with a broader size range: 4–15 versus RingConn’s listed 6–14. That makes Oura the safer candidate for especially small or large fingers, although availability can vary by finish. Both brands use proprietary sizing systems, so do not assume an Oura size transfers directly to RingConn.
- Use the manufacturer’s sizing kit for the ring you are buying.
- Test the fit overnight, not only during the day.
- Allow for finger swelling caused by heat, exercise, and sleep.
- The ring should not spin excessively or restrict circulation.
- Oura recommends positioning its sensors toward the palm side of the finger.
Oura Ring 4 uses fully titanium construction. RingConn lists an aerospace-grade titanium alloy with medical-grade epoxy resin; “medical-grade” here describes the material, not clinical validation of the ring.
Battery life and charging
Oura claims 5–8 days of battery life, depending on size, usage, settings, activity, battery age, and feature configuration. RingConn claims 10–12 days and up to 150 days with its charging case. Those are manufacturer claims, not guarantees.

Independent testing found RingConn lasting around 10 days in typical use, but enabling its sleep-apnea feature reduced endurance to approximately 5–6 days. That is an important qualification: the longest advertised runtime may not apply to the feature set you actually want.
RingConn’s included charging case is a major ownership advantage. Independent comparison testing reported that it could provide approximately 15 additional full recharges. Oura’s optional $99 charging case was reported to provide up to about five additional charges.
For frequent travelers, the case makes RingConn easier to maintain without a wall outlet. For either ring, charging during a shower or another short break can help preserve continuous data. Check whether the charger is size-specific and whether blood-oxygen or sleep-apnea monitoring changes battery performance.
Sleep tracking and recovery
Oura: stronger interpretation
Oura provides sleep scores, sleep-stage estimates, deep, REM, light and awake periods, blood-oxygen data, sleep regularity, readiness, resting heart rate, HRV, temperature trends, and broader recovery context.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIndependent testing judged Oura’s sleep tracking among the strongest available from consumer rings, while still cautioning that consumer sleep-stage estimates should not be treated as equivalent to polysomnography. Oura’s real advantage is not necessarily a completely different set of sensors; it is the way the app connects the measurements.
It is better suited to questions such as: Why was my recovery poor? Is my sleep schedule becoming more consistent? Should I reduce training today? Is stress accumulating, or was yesterday simply unusual?
RingConn: broad tracking without a fee
RingConn Gen 2 tracks sleep stages, breathing quality, heart activity, temperature, and trends. It also advertises sleep-apnea monitoring. RingConn lists a claimed 90.7% sleep-apnea-monitoring accuracy on its product page.
That claim must not be translated into “RingConn diagnoses sleep apnea.” Readers should establish what population and reference standard support the percentage, whether it refers to screening or event detection, whether the feature has regulatory clearance in their country, and whether it is available in their software version. Independent testing also found that enabling the feature reduced battery life.

Unless stronger regulatory and clinical evidence is available for RingConn in your market, treat both products as wellness tools—not diagnostic systems.
Stress, resilience, and women’s health
Oura has the more mature software approach for stress and recovery. Its app combines measurements into readiness, activity, sleep, stress, restorative-time analysis, resilience, chronotype and body-clock features, personalized goals, and periodic reports. It also offers cycle-related and pregnancy insights, with feature availability varying by market and account.
RingConn provides stress scores and trend tracking, along with sleep, heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, temperature, respiratory rate, activity, and women’s-health tracking. It is a credible subscription-free alternative, but independent testing found its app less polished and more focused on graphs and historical data than concise coaching.
Rank #3
- 【Size Before You Buy】Before purchasing the Milavan Smart Ring, we recommend referring to the size chart and carefully measuring your finger circumference. This helps ensure a comfortable fit and avoid unnecessary returns or exchanges
- 【Wellness Tracking】The slim ring features advanced 4.0 sensors that automatically track your heart rate every 30 minutes while worn. Daily data is available in the app for reference only and is not intended for medical use
- 【Intelligent Sleep Tracker】The fitness ring automatically tracks your sleep quality, including deep and light sleep, REM (eye movement), and awake periods. You can view all sleep data anytime in the app for daily reference
- 【8 Sports Modes Tracking】Supports 8 sports modes, including Running, Cycling, Jump Rope, Walking, Hiking, Yoga, Dancing, and Golf. View workout duration, steps, heart rate, speed, calories burned, distance, and other activity data in the app
- 【Stylish Fitness Companion】Featuring a slim 2mm profile and a specially polished inner surface, this smart ring is designed for comfortable all-day wear and most sports activities. View detailed workout data in the app after selecting a sport mode
Choose Oura if you want the app to explain what your measurements may mean and suggest how to respond. Choose RingConn if you prefer access to the data and are comfortable interpreting trends yourself.
Fitness and workout tracking
Neither ring is a serious replacement for a sports watch. Both are better at passive activity, sleep, and recovery context than live exercise tracking.
Runners, cyclists, hikers, and triathletes who need GPS, live pace, route data, detailed workout metrics, or advanced training-load analysis should choose or add an Apple Watch, Garmin, Samsung Galaxy Watch, or another dedicated sports watch.
- Recovery and sleep first: Oura has the advantage.
- Casual activity and wellness: Either ring can fit.
- Serious training: Use a smartwatch or sports watch.
- A discreet companion to an existing watch: RingConn’s thinness and battery are especially appealing.
App, compatibility, and ecosystem
Oura’s verified app requirements are iOS 16 or later, or Android 11 or later with Google Play services, using Bluetooth 5.0. Details are listed in Oura’s setup documentation.
Before purchasing RingConn, confirm its current minimum iOS and Android versions directly, since the cited product information does not provide a complete operating-system matrix.
For both rings, check the practical ecosystem questions that matter to you: Apple Health or Health Connect support, data export, API access, third-party integrations, country-specific features, and what happens if you change phones. Oura membership belongs to the user account rather than the physical ring and transfers when a replacement or new ring is paired.
Oura also warns that feature availability and support are country-dependent. Buying in one country and using the ring for an extended period in an unsupported country may affect features, payment, support, or warranty coverage. See Oura’s supported-country information.
Durability and ownership risk
RingConn lists 100m/328ft water resistance, aerospace-grade titanium alloy, and medical-grade epoxy resin. Oura documents a fully titanium Ring 4 design with recessed sensors. Water resistance should not be interpreted as unrestricted scuba or underwater use; follow each manufacturer’s limitations.
Smart rings are sealed miniature devices with internal batteries and are difficult to repair. Before buying, review the current warranty for your country, including battery coverage, cosmetic-damage exclusions, water-damage exclusions, replacement procedures, transfer rules, and what happens if the model is discontinued.
Battery-degradation reports from individual users are not failure-rate data. The useful question is whether the expected service life and replacement support justify the purchase price and, in Oura’s case, the continuing membership.
Which ring should you buy?
Choose Oura Ring 4 if:
- You want the best app and clearest recommendations.
- Sleep and recovery interpretation matter more than battery endurance.
- You value baselines, scores, trends, stress, resilience, and coaching.
- You want mature women’s-health and broader wellness features.
- You use Apple Health or Health Connect and value ecosystem depth.
- You accept paying $69.99 per year in the US after the trial period.
- You need a size from 4–5 or size 15.
Choose RingConn Gen 2 if:
- You refuse subscriptions.
- You want the lowest long-term ownership cost.
- You prioritize a thin, light ring.
- You travel frequently and want an included charging case.
- You dislike charging every few days.
- You are comfortable reading graphs and trends yourself.
- You mainly want passive sleep and wellness tracking rather than coaching.
Choose a smartwatch instead if:
- You need GPS, live workout metrics, notifications, calls, apps, or a screen.
- You want advanced training analytics.
- You need medically validated monitoring.
- You prefer one multifunction device rather than a discreet companion wearable.
Final verdict
RingConn Gen 2 has not universally dethroned Oura. It has beaten Oura on value, battery life, thinness, charging convenience, and subscription-free ownership. Oura remains the safer recommendation for readers who want the most polished interpretation layer, stronger recovery guidance, and a more mature wellness ecosystem—and who are willing to keep paying for it.
Buy RingConn for the hardware economics. Buy Oura for the software experience. Buy neither as a medical device or a replacement for a serious GPS sports watch.
