Yes, Pebble is back—as a new watch line built around PebbleOS, e-paper displays, physical buttons and long battery life. The first revival watches were announced in 2025 as Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2; they are now sold as the Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2. A newer, round model, the Pebble Round 2, has joined them. In the August 16, 2026 availability snapshot, Time 2 is listed in stock, Duo is sold out, and new Round 2 orders are estimated to ship in September.
What changed: Pebble is back, but the old company did not simply restart
The original Pebble company shut down after Fitbit acquired its assets in 2016. The current revival is led by Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky through Core Devices and Pebble Technology Corporation. Its new watches use open-source PebbleOS and revive the original product’s emphasis on readable e-paper, tactile controls and days or weeks between charges. They are newly made devices, not old Pebbles pulled from storage.
The launch names can still appear in older coverage: Core 2 Duo is now sold as Pebble 2 Duo, and Core Time 2 as Pebble Time 2. The current store uses Pebble branding; “rePebble” is part of the store and ecosystem identity, not the formal name of every watch. The lineup has also expanded since the March 2025 announcement with the Pebble Round 2.

All three are intended to work with iPhone and Android through the Pebble companion app, but compatibility does not mean equal features on both platforms. Water-resistance claims also vary by model and wording; none should be treated as a blanket promise that a watch is suitable for every kind of swimming or diving.
Pebble 2 Duo: the simplest, cheapest model
The Pebble 2 Duo is the revival’s closest match for people who want the original Pebble idea in a straightforward, monochrome package. It has a 1.2-inch black-and-white e-paper display, a polycarbonate body, physical-button navigation, a barometer and a compass. The launch-era price was $149, and that remains the current listed price, but the model was sold out in the August 2026 snapshot.

Pebble claims roughly 30 days of battery life. A July 2026 company update said median battery life had risen from 17 days the previous summer to more than 30 days. That is a reported median, not a guarantee for every person or use pattern. Backlight use, vibration, Bluetooth behavior, apps and watchfaces can all affect endurance.

The trade-off is deliberate: there is no color touchscreen or heart-rate monitor. Choose Duo for its price, buttons, monochrome readability and battery emphasis—but only if you can wait for a restock.
Pebble Time 2: the most complete option currently listed in stock
Time 2 is the rectangular color model and the easiest current recommendation if you want a Pebble now. Its 1.5-inch, 200 × 228 color e-paper display combines touch input with four physical buttons. The frame is stainless steel with polycarbonate elements, and the watch adds a heart-rate monitor and compass. Pebble lists four color options and estimates up to about 30 days of battery life.
Time 2 is not simply the old 2016 Pebble Time 2 concept finally reaching buyers. It is new hardware running the revived software platform. Pebble reported in July 2026 that more than 23,000 units had been built and more than 80% of preorders fulfilled; the current product page lists it in stock and says it ships within 48 hours. Treat that as a dated inventory signal, not a permanent guarantee.

The heart-rate sensor makes Time 2 more capable for basic wellness tracking than the other two watches, but it does not turn it into a medical device or a serious sports watch. It is not listed with the breadth of health, safety, GPS or training features buyers may expect from an Apple Watch or Garmin.

Pebble Round 2: the newer, slimmer round watch
Announced after the original 2025 pair, Round 2 is the revival’s style-focused model. It has a 1.3-inch, 260 × 260 color e-paper touchscreen, four buttons, a stainless-steel case and an 8.1-mm profile. Pebble estimates 10–14 days of battery life. The company lists step and sleep tracking, an accelerometer and magnetometer, and microphones for speech input and message replies where software and platform support allow.
It comes in matte black, brushed silver and polished rose gold, with strap widths varying by version. The Round 2 is best for someone who wants a thinner, round watch that looks less like a tiny computer than a rectangular smartwatch. It does not list the heart-rate monitor found on Time 2, and its battery estimate is shorter.
Fulfillment needs a little care: the official store listed new Round 2 orders for September shipping in the August 16 snapshot, while Pebble’s July update said it expected to finish shipping existing preorders by the end of September. The company had reported a delay after a cosmetic issue with the stainless-steel bottom case, followed by environmental and drop testing, and planned mass production for the last week of July. These are estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates.

Pebble describes 30-meter water resistance for Round 2 as a target in its materials. That wording is not the same as a confirmed final rating, and it should not be read as an unconditional swimming guarantee. Check the current model-specific product documentation before exposing it to water.

PebbleOS and the app ecosystem are part of the appeal
Pebble’s selling point is not only a screen that uses little power. PebbleOS is open source, and the watch’s physical buttons, glanceable watchfaces and broad app library give it a different feel from a miniature phone strapped to your wrist. The watches support notifications, vibration alerts, step and sleep tracking, and PebbleOS apps and watchfaces. Color models add touch input; microphones and speakers are present on applicable models, though what you can do with them depends on the watch and phone software.
The app ecosystem is substantial, but published totals count different things. Pebble’s Round 2 announcement says the Appstore has more than 15,000 apps and watchfaces. Its July 2026 update separately reports 2,120 apps and watchfaces created specifically for Time 2 and Round 2. Those figures describe different scopes and should not be added together or treated as competing counts of the same category. Browse the Pebble Appstore and the developer hardware guide.
The open platform is a meaningful reason to choose Pebble if you enjoy customizing a watch or value community-made software. It also means features and compatibility can evolve through updates. Install the latest companion app and watch software before concluding that a particular feature is unavailable.

The official Pebble mobile app supports both iPhone and Android, and basic pairing, synchronization, watchface installation and core watch functions are cross-platform. Messaging is the main caveat. Android currently offers more flexible messaging functions, including text replies on supported software. Pebble says Round 2 speech input and message replies are currently Android-only, with iOS support in the EU planned in a later software update.
Pebble’s own FAQ explains that third-party watches cannot match Apple Watch’s capabilities on iOS, including the same notification-reply behavior. That means “works with iPhone” should not be read as “offers Apple Watch-level integration.” If quick replies, deep app integration, cellular calling or iPhone-focused safety features matter most, an Apple Watch is the more capable choice. iPhone users who mainly want notifications, watchfaces and long battery life may still find Pebble appealing.
For Android users who want a lower-maintenance watch with buttons, e-paper and a large watchface ecosystem, Pebble offers a distinctive alternative. It is not necessarily the better choice if you want a broad Wear OS app experience, advanced health tools or a conventional high-refresh display.
What these watches do—and do not—replace
- They do: show always-on e-paper watchfaces, deliver notifications and vibration alerts, track steps and sleep, and provide physical controls. Time 2 adds heart-rate hardware; the models also differ in their other sensors.
- They do not: provide the full health, safety, cellular and communication feature set of Apple Watch, or the GPS, training, recovery and sports metrics expected from a serious Garmin. A heart-rate monitor is not an ECG, blood-oxygen analysis, medical certification or diagnosis.
- They may not: let you reply to messages or control phone features in the same way on iPhone as on Android. Specific functions depend on model, software and platform.
Choose by what you value most. The Pebble proposition is weeks-long battery life, e-paper readability, physical buttons, open software and a calmer notification experience—not maximum feature count.
Which Pebble should you buy?
- Choose Pebble 2 Duo if you want the lowest listed price, monochrome e-paper, barometer and compass, and the strongest battery-life emphasis. Its drawback is availability: it was sold out in the dated snapshot, and it lacks color and heart-rate hardware.
- Choose Pebble Time 2 if you want a color rectangular display, touch, heart-rate tracking and the strongest current availability signal. At $225 it costs $26 more than Round 2. It remains a limited wellness watch, not a sports or medical device.
- Choose Pebble Round 2 if a round, thinner design matters more than immediate delivery or heart-rate tracking. It costs $199 and is estimated to last about two weeks, but new-order timing is uncertain.
- Choose something else if you need serious sports metrics or GPS training (consider a fitness-focused watch), deep iPhone messaging and safety integration (Apple Watch), or broad Android smartwatch apps (a Wear OS watch). These category-level alternatives serve different priorities; Pebble’s design and software philosophy are its own appeal.
Before you order
Read the current product page carefully, especially for delivery timing, regional charges and warranty terms. Pebble’s FAQ describes a 30-day manufacturing-defect warranty after receipt, with replacement after the defective unit is returned. That is a short warranty, so account for it in your buying decision. The FAQ says shipments are sent DDP, but US orders may have an approximately $10 tariff for some models; a March 2026 Time 2 update cited about $12. These amounts are time-sensitive and model-specific, and taxes or charges can vary by destination.
Battery estimates are not guaranteed runtimes: intensive apps and watchfaces, backlight use, frequent vibration, Bluetooth behavior and battery aging can reduce them. Water-resistance terms are not interchangeable either: an IPX8 claim, a 30-meter rating and a 30-meter target do not promise identical protection. Water resistance may also decline with age or repairs. Check the exact final rating for the model you plan to wear around water.
