The Pebble Round 2 is a real 2026 smartwatch revival, not a concept—but it is also not a conventional fitness watch. For $199, it combines a circular 1.3-inch color e-paper display, physical buttons, touchscreen controls, PebbleOS, notifications, apps, watchfaces, and an estimated 10–14-day battery life. Its current trade-offs are equally important: no heart-rate monitor, no serious sports features, uneven iPhone and Android functionality, a limited 30-day defect warranty, and delayed delivery.
The official store listing says new orders ship in September 2026. That makes the Round 2 most appealing to buyers who specifically want Pebble’s minimalist, open-source approach—not people seeking an Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, or Garmin replacement.
Availability has changed
Pebble announced the Round 2 on January 2, 2026, with an original May shipping estimate. That schedule slipped. In a July 14 update, Pebble said mass production was expected to begin during the last week of July, with existing preorder fulfillment targeted for the end of September. The official store listing says new orders ship in September.

What is the Pebble Round 2?
The Pebble Round 2 is a modern successor to the 2015 Pebble Time Round. It keeps the original’s circular, traditional-watch styling while addressing two of that model’s biggest compromises: its small screen and short battery life.
The new watch has a stainless-steel frame, an 8.1 mm-thick case, and a 26.8-gram watch head without its strap. Its 1.3-inch, 260 × 260-pixel display uses 64-color e-paper with a backlight. Navigation combines four physical buttons with a touchscreen, while PebbleOS provides notifications, watchfaces, apps, music controls, and basic activity features.
The official product page lists an estimated 10–14-day battery life, steps and sleep tracking, a microphone, vibration motor, three-axis IMU, and compass. A silicone strap and charging dongle are included in the $199 package.

The current product listing gives the display density as 200 DPI. An early secondary report gave a different figure, so the official current specification is the safer number to use. Likewise, the launch announcement mentioned dual microphones, while the current technical table confirms microphone capability but does not list a speaker.

Pebble’s July update listed optional custom leather straps at $20–$30. The watch comes in four configurations:
- Matte black with a 20 mm band
- Brushed silver with a 20 mm band
- Brushed silver with a 14 mm band
- Polished rose gold with a 14 mm band
Band width matters. A 14 mm watch requires a 14 mm strap, while a 20 mm model requires a 20 mm strap. The bands use quick-release fittings, so standard straps in the correct width should work. Pebble says buyers can select their color before shipment rather than necessarily choosing it at checkout.

The $199 price is listed in U.S. dollars. Taxes, customs charges, and duties may affect the final delivered cost. Pebble’s current FAQ also refers to an approximately $10 U.S. customs tariff per watch, subject to change before shipment, and says customers may cancel for a refund less card-processing fees if the tariff changes.
What the Round 2 can do
The Round 2 is designed around glanceable information and low-maintenance ownership rather than a large catalog of advanced health sensors.

- Apps and customizable watchfaces
- Physical-button navigation
- Step tracking
- Sleep tracking
- Microphone-based features where supported
Pebble’s broader Appstore advertises more than 10,000 apps and watchfaces across the ecosystem. That is not the same as the newer-generation total: in its July 14 update, Pebble reported 2,120 apps and watchfaces specifically created for Pebble Time 2 and Round 2. Existing Pebble software may need updates to display properly on the larger circular screen, so compatibility with every legacy app should not be assumed.
The open-source Pebble mobile app and community-built software are a major part of the product’s appeal. Buyers who enjoy custom watchfaces, lightweight apps, and a more enthusiast-driven platform will find more to like here than buyers expecting a fully mature mainstream smartwatch ecosystem.
What it cannot do
The Round 2 does not have a heart-rate monitor, and Pebble does not position it as a sports or fitness watch. There is no stated GPS, LTE connection, ECG, blood-oxygen sensor, or medical-grade health tracking. It should not be purchased for serious running, cycling, hiking, structured training, emergency calling, or advanced wellness measurements.
It also does not offer the breadth of phone integration or third-party applications associated with Apple Watch or Wear OS. The product’s appeal is narrower: an attractive watch that shows notifications, lasts for many days, and does not require the owner to charge it every night.

Battery life: 10–14 days, not a guarantee
Pebble estimates 10–14 days of battery life. That is substantially better than the original Time Round, but it should not be interpreted as a guaranteed two-week result.
Battery performance will vary with:
- Backlight frequency and brightness
- Animated or information-heavy watchfaces
- Health-tracking activity
- Bluetooth connection behavior
- Notification volume
- Software maturity
- Battery age and condition
Pebble has specifically identified backlight use, animated watchfaces, and health tracking as significant power consumers on its watches. The e-paper display should reduce the need for frequent charging and remain readable in bright ambient light, but it will not deliver the fluid motion or animation speed of an OLED smartwatch. That is a technology trade-off, not a confirmed defect.
Water resistance needs a qualification
Pebble describes the Round 2 as water resistant, while its technical table gives a 30 m target. “Target” is weaker wording than a finalized, certified usage rating. Buyers should verify the final documentation and restrictions before treating the watch as suitable for swimming or other prolonged water exposure.

iPhone and Android support are not identical
The Round 2 supports both iPhone and Android, but support is not feature-for-feature equal.
At launch, speech input and message replies were described as Android-only. Pebble has said iOS support in the European Union was planned, and its July update indicated that it was still working toward iOS notification replies through Apple’s AccessorySetupKit and related Bluetooth changes.
The practical conclusion is straightforward: basic iPhone compatibility exists, but advanced notification-reply functionality is platform- and region-dependent and remains under development. Android is currently the safer choice for buyers who care about voice input and replying to messages from the watch.

The Round 2 is not literally a thinner redesign: its 8.1 mm case is thicker than the original’s commonly reported figure. Its meaningful improvements are the larger, better-used display area, far longer estimated battery life, stainless-steel construction, and added touchscreen interaction.
Round 2 versus Pebble Time 2
The Pebble Time 2 is the more capable choice within Pebble’s current range, while the Round 2 is the more distinctive one.

Choose the Time 2 if battery life and heart-rate tracking matter more than a traditional circular case. Choose the Round 2 if its design is the reason you are considering Pebble in the first place.
The $149 Pebble 2 Duo is a cheaper alternative with a 1.2-inch black-and-white e-paper display and polycarbonate frame, but it is currently listed as sold out.
Preorder and ownership risks
Pebble’s own store FAQ makes the Round 2’s status clear: delays are possible, launch features may not all be ready, software may have rough edges, and things can break. This is a small, enthusiast-oriented operation rather than a mass-market smartwatch company.

The stated warranty covers manufacturing defects for only 30 days after receipt. Customers must ship a defective watch back before Pebble sends a replacement. That is a materially shorter warranty window than many buyers expect from consumer electronics, and it should be included in the purchase decision.

There is also a difference between documented risk and speculation. Pebble has acknowledged touchscreen issues on newer watches, but the published problem data primarily concerns Time 2. It does not establish a Round 2 failure rate, so reports about Time 2 should not be presented as proof that the circular watch has the same defect.
Who should buy the Pebble Round 2?
The Round 2 makes sense if you:
- Want a circular watch with a conventional timepiece appearance.
- Prefer physical buttons alongside touch controls.
- Want an always-on display and multi-day battery life.
- Need notifications, music controls, apps, and watchfaces rather than advanced health tools.
- Do not need heart-rate monitoring, GPS, LTE, or serious workout analytics.
- Use Android and want the broadest current support for voice and message features.
- Enjoy open-source software and community customization.
- Are comfortable with preorder timing and a small company’s evolving software.
Who should wait or skip it?
Wait if you need a firm delivery date, mature iPhone notification replies, independent reviews of final production hardware, confirmation of the final water-resistance rating, or a longer warranty.
Skip it if you need GPS workouts, heart-rate or ECG data, blood-oxygen tracking, LTE, emergency calling, extensive smartwatch apps, or polished Apple Watch- and Wear OS-level integration. A Garmin sports watch is a better category fit for training, running, cycling, hiking, and structured fitness. Apple Watch and Wear OS watches are better for deep phone integration, voice assistants, health sensors, and mainstream apps.

The Pebble Round 2 is a compelling specialist smartwatch, not a universal one. At $199, it offers the circular styling the old Time Round made appealing, a much larger display, buttons plus touch, open-source customization, and an estimated 10–14-day battery life. It also costs less than the $225 Time 2.
That price is justified only if those qualities matter more to you than health sensors, sports tracking, app depth, immediate availability, and a long warranty. Android users who want a minimalist daily watch are the strongest candidates. iPhone users should wait for clearer notification-reply support, while athletes and health-focused buyers should choose a Garmin, Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, or another purpose-built fitness smartwatch instead.
For everyone else, the sensible approach is to treat the Round 2 as an enthusiast preorder: check the September shipping estimate, calculate taxes and duties, confirm the strap width, and buy only if you are comfortable with evolving software and a 30-day defect warranty.
