Yes—Pebble is officially back as a smartwatch brand. The new Pebble-branded watches are being made and sold by Core Devices LLC, the company led by original Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky. This is not a reopening of the old Pebble Technology Corporation, nor is it a Google product. It is a small, direct-to-consumer revival built around Pebble’s familiar strengths: e-paper displays, physical buttons, long battery life, customization, and a deliberately simple relationship with your phone.
The return is real, but availability is uneven. As of August 18, 2026, the Pebble Time 2 is listed at $225 and in stock, the $199 Pebble Round 2 is scheduled to ship to new customers in September, and the Pebble 2 Duo is sold out.
What “Pebble is back” actually means
The most accurate description is that the Pebble product brand has returned, while the company behind the new watches is Core Devices. Current products are officially marketed under names including Pebble Time 2, Pebble Round 2, and Pebble 2 Duo.

Core Devices is a new operating company led by Migicovsky, not the old Pebble organization simply resuming its former business. Core Devices’ official website also says that it has no affiliation with Google.

So this is more than an unrelated manufacturer making a PebbleOS-compatible watch—but it is not a return to the original company’s former mass-market scale either. It is a founder-led, enthusiast-focused hardware project selling primarily through the RePebble website.
Why did Pebble return?
Core Devices says the market still lacks a watch that combines an always-on e-paper display, long battery life, physical controls, simple software, and extensive customization. Mainstream smartwatches have become more capable, but they also tend to demand frequent charging, encourage constant interaction, and prioritize health, apps, payments, cellular connectivity, or phone-replacement features.
Pebble’s approach is narrower. The watch is intended to complement a smartphone, not replace it. It is designed for glanceable notifications, alarms, music controls, activity tracking, watchfaces, and small watchapps without turning the wrist into another full-sized computer.
That makes the new Pebble products a better fit for people who value low distraction and multi-day battery life than for buyers seeking the most comprehensive smartwatch available.
How PebbleOS enabled the comeback
Google open-sourced PebbleOS in 2025 after Fitbit’s acquisition of Pebble’s software assets. That gave Migicovsky’s new company a practical starting point: Core Devices could build compatible hardware and continue developing the operating system without recreating Pebble’s software foundation from scratch.

The official store describes the current software as 100% open source and directs users to the Pebble App Store, developer documentation, CloudPebble, GitHub, and community forums. The platform retains the original Pebble idea that users and developers should be able to create watchfaces and watchapps rather than relying entirely on a locked-down manufacturer ecosystem.
Open source improves the platform’s prospects for community maintenance and experimentation, but it does not mean the software is finished. Core Devices’ own updates show that bugs remain, features are still being enabled, and the experience is evolving.

Prices and availability above reflect the official store information reviewed on August 18, 2026. The store’s status should take precedence over older launch coverage, particularly for the Round 2.
Pebble Time 2
The Pebble Time 2 is the most immediately available of the new watches. It has a 1.5-inch, 64-color e-paper display, a stainless-steel frame, a touchscreen, a heart-rate monitor, a microphone, water resistance, and support for PebbleOS apps and watchfaces. It is listed in four colors at $225, with the product page saying it ships within 48 hours.
The Time 2 is the clearest choice for buyers who want a larger color e-paper Pebble and need delivery sooner rather than later. However, hardware presence and software availability are not always the same thing. Core Devices previously said that some Time 2 hardware capabilities—including a second microphone and the advertised four-week battery-life capability—were not yet enabled in PebbleOS at the time of its production update. Buyers should check the latest software notes rather than assume every advertised capability is active on day one.

Pebble Round 2
The Pebble Round 2 is the style-focused model, designed as a successor to the 2015 Pebble Time Round. It uses a thin stainless-steel body, removes the large bezel, and places a full-face 1.3-inch, 64-color e-paper display behind the round case.
Core Devices has described battery life as approximately two weeks for the Round 2. That is an advertised target, not a guarantee of identical results for every user. The product is listed at $199 in three colors, but the official store currently says new orders ship in September. Earlier reports discussed July shipping; those dates are now stale for new orders.
Pebble 2 Duo
The Pebble 2 Duo is listed as a black-and-white model, but the official store currently marks it sold out. It should therefore be treated as part of the product range, not as an immediately orderable alternative.
Pebble Index 01
The Index 01 is a smart ring rather than a smartwatch. The official store lists it as an “external memory for your brain,” and a July 2026 company update said it had entered mass production. The reviewed store page did not show a current price or clear purchase status, so it is too early to treat it as a readily available Pebble watch substitute.
What the new watches do well
- Longer-running, glanceable displays: E-paper is central to Pebble’s identity and helps support an always-on watch experience without the visual and charging demands of many OLED smartwatches.
- Physical controls: Buttons remain useful when you want to control music, navigate notifications, or check information without swiping through a phone-like interface.
- Customization: Watchfaces, watchapps, developer tools, and community software remain important parts of the platform.
- Phone compatibility: The companion app is described as supporting both iOS and Android.
- A broad ecosystem: The official store advertises more than 10,000 apps and watchfaces across the wider Pebble ecosystem. A July update separately said that 2,120 apps and watchfaces had been created specifically for Time 2 and Round 2. Those figures cover different scopes and should not be treated as contradictory counts of exactly the same catalog.
What Pebble does not try to be
These watches are not direct Apple Watch, Pixel Watch, or Galaxy Watch replacements. They are not positioned as full smartphone substitutes, cellular communication devices, or the strongest choice for advanced health and fitness tracking.

You should not buy one expecting the breadth of a mature smartwatch platform, guaranteed medical-grade measurements, comprehensive emergency features, or a fully independent phone experience. The appeal is the opposite: fewer distractions, simpler interactions, physical buttons, and less frequent charging.

The warranty is only 30 days
The official store says the warranty covers manufacturing defects for 30 days. That is not the same as a broad satisfaction guarantee. Core Devices also says it does not offer buyer’s-remorse refunds.
This is one of the most important differences between buying a new Pebble and buying from a large established electronics brand. Read the warranty and order terms for your destination before paying, especially if you are importing the watch.
Early hardware and software problems have been reported
In its July 2026 update, Core Devices acknowledged reports of inaccurate step and sleep tracking, accelerometer failures, touchscreen problems, high power consumption, and cracked glass. These are company-reported issue categories, not independently measured failure rates.

If your watch battery drains unusually quickly, the company directs users to report the problem through the Pebble app.
Core Devices also said it had received 51 reports of front-glass cracking and was sending replacements. The company characterized those reports as approximately 0.25% of Time 2 units at that point. That percentage comes from the manufacturer and has not been independently audited.
Availability can change
Time 2 is listed as in stock, but the Round 2 has moved to a later schedule for new orders and the Pebble 2 Duo is sold out. A small manufacturer can have more variable production and support capacity than Apple, Garmin, Google, or Fitbit. Do not rely on an older shipping article if the current product page gives a different estimate.
International orders need extra checking
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars and orders ship from an Asian warehouse. Taxes, tariffs, duties, VAT, and handling charges can vary by destination. Core Devices describes shipments as DDP, but its order pages still explain that destination-specific charges and payment requirements may apply. Check the final order summary for your country before completing the purchase.

- Former Pebble owners who miss the original interface and community.
- Users who prioritize battery life over a large app catalog.
- People who prefer physical buttons and a low-distraction watch.
- Developers, tinkerers, and open-source enthusiasts.
- Buyers comfortable with direct ordering from a small company and with software that is still maturing.
If you fit that profile and want the currently available model, the Pebble Time 2 is the practical choice. Choose the Round 2 instead if its round, thin design matters more than immediate delivery.
Who should skip it?
Look elsewhere if you need advanced training metrics, extensive health and safety features, cellular calling, a large repair network, a generous return window, or the reassurance of a long-established manufacturer.
For those priorities, an Apple Watch is the more mature option for iPhone users; Garmin is aimed more directly at serious fitness, GPS, and outdoor use; Fitbit focuses on mainstream health and activity tracking; and the Google Pixel Watch offers a conventional Wear OS experience. These are use-case alternatives, not claims based on hands-on comparative testing.
Verdict
Pebble is genuinely back, including the Pebble name on current products. But the comeback should be understood accurately: it is a small, founder-led, direct-to-consumer hardware project built around open-source PebbleOS and a focused e-paper philosophy—not a return to the old Pebble company’s former scale and not a full-featured challenge to the Apple Watch.

The Pebble Time 2 is the model to consider if you want the new platform now. The Round 2 is the style-led option if you can wait for its September shipping schedule. In either case, the short 30-day manufacturing-defect warranty, no buyer’s-remorse refunds, uneven availability, and evolving software are central parts of the purchase decision—not footnotes.
