The revived Pebble Time 2’s final industrial design was revealed on August 13, 2025, after the watch was first introduced as the Core Time 2. The result pairs a 1.5-inch, 64-color e-paper display with a more sculpted stainless-steel case, knurled buttons, a flat glass lens, and an RGB backlight. Its advertised battery life is up to 30 days, but that remains an estimate—not a guarantee.
The design reveal is old news; the buying status is not. As of September 23, 2026, the official store lists Pebble Time 2 for $225, in stock, with shipping within 48 hours. Here is what the final design changed, what the published specifications say, and what the watch is—and is not—built to do.
The final design: Pebble’s familiar formula in a more premium case
Pebble Time 2 keeps the basic idea that made Pebble distinctive: an always-on, reflective e-paper screen, physical controls, simple smartwatch functions, and an emphasis on long battery life. The 2025 redesign gives that formula a more finished, premium-looking shell. The case combines stainless steel with colored polycarbonate sections, and the front uses flat hardened glass. Four knurled stainless-steel buttons provide tactile controls alongside the touchscreen.
The metal sections contribute to the watch’s more substantial look and feel; the polycarbonate breaks provide radio-transparent areas and create visible color accents. That is a design rationale, not evidence of superior wireless performance: no independent radio testing is cited here.

The official reveal included product imagery and an early production sample, but those images should not be mistaken for proof of retail-finish quality or hands-on performance. A photograph cannot establish button feel, comfort, display readability in every condition, durability, battery runtime, or water performance.

What changed from the March 2025 version?
The March announcement presented the watch as Core Time 2 and showed a preliminary design. Pebble’s recovered trademark led to the Pebble Time 2 name in July; the August reveal then showed a substantially revised industrial design. The contrast is not simply a name change.

The revived watch is inspired by the unreleased Pebble Time 2 concept from 2016; it is not that old hardware finally being shipped. It is a new device that revisits the earlier ambition for a more premium color e-paper Pebble.

See the official specification and purchase page for the current listing. In the August 2025 reveal, waterproofing was still described as undecided; the current listing now gives a 30 m rating. That published figure should not be read as a swimming or diving recommendation without explicit guidance from the manufacturer.
Why the RGB backlight matters
“64-color display” and “RGB backlight” describe different things. The e-paper panel displays color; the RGB LED illuminates it when needed. The founder says the adjustable light can avoid the consistently blue-ish look associated with earlier e-paper Pebbles, with the possibility of warmer illumination later in the day and cooler light in daytime use.

E-paper remains the display technology, with its reflective, low-power character; the backlight is there to improve visibility when ambient light is insufficient. Its practical effect on battery life will depend on how often and how brightly it is used.

What the design means for everyday use
The steel-and-polycarbonate construction gives Pebble Time 2 a different visual position from a lightweight plastic watch, while the published weight—33 g without the strap—provides a useful comparison point. Its 22 mm quick-release strap also uses a common format. Whether the case feels comfortable on a particular wrist cannot be determined from dimensions or promotional images alone.
Physical buttons remain central rather than ornamental: they offer an alternative to relying solely on a touchscreen for routine navigation. The software proposition is similarly focused. Pebble’s revived platform emphasizes watchfaces, apps, customization, and open-source PebbleOS rather than trying to replicate every function of a large smartwatch platform. Readers can explore the Pebble Appstore and developer documentation; an open ecosystem does not, by itself, guarantee long-term updates or identical features on iPhone and Android.

It makes the most sense for someone who specifically wants an always-on e-paper screen, physical buttons, customization, cross-platform app support, and fewer charging interruptions. Former Pebble owners and readers who value a distinctive retro-modern design are the natural audience. Heart-rate, step, and sleep tracking are included, but their presence does not make this a serious training watch.
Look elsewhere if your priority is advanced sports analytics, a mature app ecosystem on the scale of Apple Watch or Wear OS, cellular connectivity, or deep iPhone integration. The company itself cautions buyers not to expect a perfectly polished smartwatch: rough edges and delayed features are possible, and third-party watch features on iOS may be more limited than Apple Watch features.

Battery life also needs a realistic reading. “Up to 30 days” is an estimate, not a measured promise for every user. Backlight use, heart-rate tracking, notifications, and other usage patterns can affect runtime. Likewise, a new product carrying the Pebble name should not be assumed to have the same support or durability record as the original company’s devices.
Price, availability, and buyer caveats
As of September 23, 2026, the official store lists Pebble Time 2 at $225, in stock, and shipping within 48 hours. The store lists four color options; check the product page for the available choices and selection at checkout. This is current retail availability, not the preorder status reported around the 2025 design reveal.
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars. The store notes an approximately $10 U.S. customs tariff per watch, subject to change, so check the checkout total. It says shipments leave from Asia and are sent DDP, but buyers outside the United States should confirm how taxes, duties, and any local charges apply to their destination. The current FAQ says manufacturing defects are covered for 30 days after receipt; review the official terms and support information before ordering.
