Yes: Pebble’s app ecosystem is active again. Core Devices has revived the brand with a current Pebble mobile app, new watches and an active app store. But the comeback is not a return to one unified storefront: Core’s feed is enabled by default, while Rebble’s community catalog may need to be switched on separately.
What came back—and what did not
The original Pebble company shut down years ago. Rebble says it maintained and operated app-store infrastructure during the period that followed, while app and watchface creators retained ownership of their work. Core Devices, the company associated with Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky, has since revived the Pebble brand and operates the current official Pebble app and its default store feed. This is a brand and software revival, not simply the original company reopening. Rebble’s account of its role and archive and Core’s Round 2 announcement describe those parts of the story.
The revival is more than a shelf of old downloads. It includes a current phone app, new PebbleOS hardware, developer publishing tools and continuing community software work. The catalog combines legacy apps and watchfaces with newer releases, but an item’s presence does not guarantee it has been updated or works on every watch.
How active is the App Store?
The Pebble Appstore is live, and Core Devices’ official store page describes a catalog of more than 10,000 apps and watchfaces. That is a vendor-stated catalog size, not an independently audited count, and it includes watchfaces and legacy software—not just current apps built for new watches.

A more specific figure gives a sense of new-generation activity: Core’s July 14, 2026 update reported 2,120 apps and watchfaces created for Pebble Time 2 and Pebble Round 2. That is a subset for those two models, not a replacement count for the full historical catalog. The Spring 2026 developer contest also invited developers to reclaim older apps and publish new ones for the revived watches.
The current iPhone app supports browsing and installing apps and watchfaces, pairing, notifications, firmware updates, health-data synchronization, sideloading and debugging. Its listing names both newer watches and older Pebble models. See the Pebble Core listing on the iOS App Store. Android users should follow the app link from the official Pebble site, rather than assume details from the iPhone listing apply to Android.
Core’s feed and Rebble’s feed are different
In the current app, Core’s feed is the default source. Rebble’s feed is separate, so an app published or maintained there may not appear in Core’s feed. The practical consequence is that a search in one storefront may not show the whole ecosystem.

The feeds’ distinction and configuration guidance are described in a Pebble forum discussion. Core and Rebble’s catalogs are not necessarily identical; that is a practical split, not a reason to assume either feed contains every app.
How to find and install apps or watchfaces
- Install the current Pebble app. Use the official app link for your phone platform from the Pebble site.
- Pair a supported watch. The iOS listing names Pebble 2 Duo, Pebble Time 2 and older models including Pebble, Pebble Steel, Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, Pebble Time Round and Pebble 2. Health features vary by model.
- Open the app or watchface marketplace. Search or browse the Core feed and check the item’s compatibility information before installing.
- Enable Rebble if an item is missing. Current forum guidance gives the path Settings → Apps → Configure Appstore Sources; enable the Rebble pages or feed, then search again. Menu names can change as the app evolves.
- Try the browser storefront. Open the Pebble Appstore; forum guidance says Rebble content is available near the bottom of the web storefront.
If you still cannot find an app, check whether it was republished to Core, whether it is filtered for your watch model, and whether the developer provides a current source or sideloading instructions. Feed and account state are separate variables: an item missing from one view may still exist elsewhere in the ecosystem.
Why an old app can be present but not work
A catalog listing is evidence that software was published or preserved, not a compatibility guarantee. An older app may rely on an online service that no longer exists, an older PebbleOS API, a particular screen size, or sensors absent from your watch. Newer apps may target Time 2 or Round 2 hardware.

- Check the app’s supported-device details and update history.
- Look for a developer page or community discussion that mentions current firmware and phone support.
- Match the watchface to your screen’s size and display capabilities.
- For an older watch, consider battery condition and hardware wear as well as software compatibility.
Core’s mobile app lists compatibility with several older Pebbles, but that does not mean every archived app works on every listed model.

What developers can build with the revival
The developer effort is a material part of the comeback. Core’s Spring 2026 update documented Pebble SDK version 4.9.148, C and JavaScript development, the command-line tool, browser-based CloudPebble, and the pebble publish workflow. Its July update described work on touch-screen, speaker, RGB-backlight and quick-launch APIs, as well as Alloy, a JavaScript framework for native Pebble apps, C-code integration and JavaScript debugging.

All three are listed as running open-source PebbleOS, but display, touch, sensors and other hardware differ. Those differences affect which apps and watchfaces make sense. Core’s July 2026 update also reported a median battery life of about one month for Time 2; that is a reported median, distinct from the product page’s estimate.
The official page lists a 30-day warranty for manufacturing defects after receipt and warns of possible rough edges, delays, unfinished features or breakages. It also says US customers may face an approximately $10 customs tariff per watch, subject to change. Check the current hardware page for the terms, price and delivery status that apply when ordering.
Where the revived ecosystem is strong—and where it is limited
What suits Pebble
- Long battery life, always-on e-paper displays and physical buttons.
- Timekeeping, notifications, alarms, lightweight tracking and customization.
- A large selection of apps and watchfaces, alongside open-source PebbleOS and active community development.
What to weigh before buying
- Store fragmentation: Core and Rebble are separate feeds, so discovery can take an extra step.
- Fitness scope: Core does not position these watches as serious sports-tracking devices. Buyers who need structured running, cycling or triathlon metrics may be better served by a specialist sports watch such as Garmin.
- Phone-platform limits: Core warns that third-party watches on iOS face restrictions, including limits on replying to notifications. Pebble is not an Apple Watch substitute for deep iPhone integration.
- Legacy uncertainty: Older apps may be unmaintained, dependent on discontinued services or incompatible with a particular model.
- Support and polish: The stated warranty is limited, and Core warns that the project can have unfinished features and breakages.
Is Pebble worth buying into in 2026?
For former Pebble owners, the revived app and store make it possible to return to a familiar button-driven watch while exploring both old software and new releases. Battery-focused buyers who want a simple watch with an always-on display may also find the approach appealing. Developers and tinkerers have a current SDK, publishing tools and new hardware APIs to work with.
Buyers who need advanced training metrics, polished notification replies on iPhone, a single seamless app marketplace or broad long-term hardware guarantees should be cautious. Before ordering, search for the apps you actually want in both feeds, confirm compatibility with the chosen model, and check current stock and shipping details. The comeback is substantive—but its value depends on whether Pebble’s deliberately narrower watch experience fits your needs.
