Google’s Issue Tracker now marks the Pixel Watch 1’s weak-vibration problem after Wear OS 5 as “Fixed.” But the public entry does not identify a shipping update or show a verification version, so it does not establish that every affected watch has received a fix. Reports point mainly to unusually weak vibration from third-party apps—not a proven failure of every Pixel Watch vibration function.
What Google’s “Fixed” status does—and does not—tell you
The Google Issue Tracker entry titled “Vibration extremely weak on Pixel Watch 1 after WearOS 5 update” currently lists the status as Fixed. That is a meaningful update: it is not accurate to say the original issue is still officially marked open.
However, the publicly visible record does not show a populated “Verified In” field or name the Wear OS build that contains the fix. A tracker status is not the same as a documented rollout to every watch, nor does it prove that every weak-vibration symptom has the same cause. The careful answer is: Google marks the original Pixel Watch 1 issue fixed, but the public record leaves its delivery and universal resolution unclear.

After installing Wear OS 5, Pixel Watch 1 owners reported that vibrations from some third-party apps—including alarm and sleep-tracking apps—became extremely faint or nearly imperceptible. Some users said built-in or system vibrations remained stronger. These are community reports, not controlled measurements, but the distinction matters: they suggest a software or vibration-API path problem rather than proving that the watch’s vibration motor has failed.

A watch’s system haptics, phone-delivered notifications, and an app’s own vibration pattern do not necessarily use identical settings or delivery paths. A strong vibration preview in Settings therefore does not rule out a problem with a particular app’s alerts. Conversely, a weak vibration from one app does not establish that the whole watch is faulty.
The Google tracker’s scope is specifically the first-generation Pixel Watch after Wear OS 5. There are separate user complaints about notification strength on newer models, including the Pixel Watch 3, but those reports do not establish that the same Wear OS 5 regression affects those watches. Compare system, phone, and app vibrations
Use this practical isolation test before deciding whether the problem is the watch, an app, or a system-level issue. It is not an official Google diagnostic procedure.

- On the watch, open Settings → Vibration and raise the relevant controls. Google documents controls such as ring, notification, alarm, and touch or system haptics, though available options can vary by device and software version. See Google’s vibration settings guidance.
- Trigger the built-in vibration preview, if your software version provides one. Notice how strong that feels.
- Trigger an ordinary phone notification on the watch, then a vibration from the affected third-party app.
- Repeat the app test with at least one other app, if possible, and compare the results while wearing the watch the same way.
- System test, phone notifications, and several apps are all weak: check settings and modes, then consider a broader software or hardware issue.
- System vibration is strong but several third-party apps are weak: that pattern is consistent with the reported Wear OS 5 problem, though it does not prove the cause.
- Only one app is weak: check that app’s settings and contact its developer before blaming the watch or Google.
- System vibration is absent or consistently weak: escalate to Google support, particularly if it persists after updates and a restart.
Checks to try before resetting anything
- Restart the watch. This is low-risk and can clear a temporary software or notification problem.
- Check vibration controls. In Settings → Vibration, confirm the relevant alarm, notification, or other available control is not turned down.
- Check alert-suppressing modes. Review Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, and Theater or Cinema mode, and confirm the watch is not silencing alerts because it thinks it is not being worn.
- Check the affected app. Look for its own vibration-strength, alarm, notification-channel, or watch-alert settings. If just one app is affected, update it, then try removing and reinstalling it.
- Update software and apps. Check for available watch updates and updates to the Pixel Watch phone app and affected apps. Menu labels and update availability can vary by software version; do not assume a particular update contains the tracker fix unless Google identifies it.
- Check delivery and permissions if notifications are also unreliable. Recheck the app’s notification permissions and categories, and note whether the behavior changes when the phone is connected or disconnected. If relevant, temporarily review battery restrictions on the phone app.
- Isolate third-party additions. If you use a third-party watch face or automation, test without it to see whether the behavior changes.
Re-pairing may be worth considering if notification delivery itself is unreliable, but it is more disruptive than checking settings and restarting. A factory reset should be a last resort, not the first response to this reported regression. Community reports have described resets helping some notification-vibration problems, but a reset is not an established cure for the Wear OS 5 issue. It erases local watch data and requires setup again; it cannot repair an operating-system bug, a weak pattern generated by an app, or a hardware defect.

When to contact Google
Contact Google Pixel Watch support if vibration is weak or absent in system functions as well as apps, the problem continues after an available update and restart, or the watch has been dropped or exposed to liquid. Seek help promptly if a vibration-dependent alarm or accessibility alert is not dependable.
When you contact support, include the watch generation, Wear OS version and build number, when the problem began, which apps are affected, and whether the built-in vibration preview is stronger than real alerts. Mention any reset you performed. A short comparison video may help if support asks for evidence. Until alerts are dependable, use a backup alarm or another notification method for anything you cannot afford to miss.
