The June 2024 Pixel Watch 3 leak got two important details right: Google released a 45mm model, and the finished watches had larger displays with smaller bezels. But its most striking measurement did not hold up. The CAD-based leak suggested a 14mm-thick smaller watch; Google’s final specification lists both Pixel Watch 3 sizes at 12.3mm high, matching the Pixel Watch 2.
What the Pixel Watch 3 leak claimed
On June 10, 2024, reporting on CAD-based renders attributed to OnLeaks described a smaller Pixel Watch 3 measuring about 40.79 × 40.73 × 14mm. The Pixel Watch 2 was listed at about 41mm across and 12.3mm high, so the leak implied a slightly smaller footprint but a noticeably thicker body. It also showed the familiar rounded case, domed glass, crown, side button, speaker, microphone and band connection.
The same report suggested a roughly 1.2-inch display, a 307mAh battery and a new 45mm version. The renders appeared to show narrower bezels, although they could not establish the exact edge of the usable screen. 9to5Google’s report on the leak identifies the images as CAD renders, not a Google specification sheet.

Was the Pixel Watch 3 actually 14mm thick?
No—not according to Google’s final specifications. The Pixel Watch 3 launched with both sizes listed at 12.3mm high, the same listed height as the Pixel Watch 2. The leak’s 14mm figure was therefore not the final retail specification. It may have reflected an early design or a different measurement convention, but the available reporting does not establish why the numbers differed.
It is safest to say that the leak suggested a thicker case, while the released watch’s official height matched the Pixel Watch 2’s. “The Pixel Watch 3 is 14mm thick” would wrongly present an unreconciled leak measurement as a confirmed product fact.
Were the bezels thinner?
Broadly, yes. Google described the finished Pixel Watch 3 as having larger displays and smaller bezels. The 41mm model has 10% more screen area than the Pixel Watch 2, while the 45mm model has 40% more. These figures support the direction suggested by the leaked renders, but Google does not give a simple bezel-width measurement in millimeters.

The two screen-area increases also need different context. The 45mm watch has a larger case as well as improved screen-to-body use, so its 40% gain cannot be attributed to thinner bezels alone. The render hinted at the design direction; Google’s later product information confirmed the larger-screen outcome, not an exact bezel dimension. Google’s launch announcement describes the display changes.
The 45mm model really did arrive
Google announced the Pixel Watch 3 on August 13, 2024, in 41mm and 45mm sizes, with retail availability announced for September 10. The larger option was new to the Pixel Watch line and one of the leak’s clearest correct predictions. It is more than a scaled-up case: it has a larger battery and a substantially larger display.

Google lists the 41mm bands for wrists around 130–210mm and the 45mm bands for wrists around 150–215mm, depending on configuration. Those ranges are useful starting points, not a substitute for checking band sizing and how a particular watch feels on your wrist. The 41mm model is lighter and more compact; the 45mm gives more screen space and a larger battery. Google’s specification page has the official figures.

How accurate was the battery rumor?
The leaked 307mAh figure matched Google’s typical capacity specification for the 41mm Pixel Watch 3. It does not describe the 45mm model, which has a 420mAh typical battery. The Pixel Watch 2 was listed at 304mAh, so the smaller model’s capacity increased only modestly; battery-life estimates should not be inferred from capacity alone.
Google lists up to 24 hours of use with the always-on display enabled and up to 36 hours in Battery Saver for both sizes. Those are manufacturer estimates, not a guarantee of identical real-world endurance for every user. The leak’s battery match also does not explain its incorrect thickness prediction: the available evidence does not identify what caused that discrepancy.
What the leak got right—and what it did not
- Right: A 45mm Pixel Watch 3 launched.
- Right for the 41mm model: The 307mAh battery figure matched Google’s final specification.
- Right in direction: The finished watch had more screen area and smaller bezels, as Google described.
- Not borne out by the final specification: The leaked 14mm height; Google lists both models at 12.3mm.
- Not established by the leak: Exact bezel width or the final usable screen boundary.
The released watch also brought an Actua AMOLED LTPO display with up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and a 1–60Hz variable refresh rate, plus Wear OS 5. Other headline specifications include the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform, 32GB storage, 2GB SDRAM, 5 ATM water resistance and an IP68 rating. These are product specifications, not evidence that the original CAD renders captured every final hardware detail. Google also announced new health and fitness features, including running metrics and loss-of-pulse detection.
For buyers comparing models, the Pixel Watch 3 works with most phones running Android 10 or newer and requires a Google Account and the Pixel Watch app; Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and 4G LTE versions are available. It was announced at US launch prices ranging from $349.99 for the 41mm Bluetooth/Wi-Fi model to $499.99 for the 45mm LTE model. Those are historical launch prices, not a claim about current pricing.
