The leak appears to describe possible future hardware, including rumored “Aperol” sunglasses and “Bellini” optical designs, along with improved battery endurance. However, Meta’s confirmed 2026 products are Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) and its new optical-first styles.
That distinction matters because Gen 2 already delivers the headline upgrades many buyers are waiting for: up to eight hours of rated battery life, a 12MP camera with 3K Ultra HD capture, improved audio, and prescription compatibility. The optical version is not merely a future rumor—it already exists as the Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics Gen 2 models.

The same reports suggest better battery endurance, design changes aimed at all-day wear, and a possible announcement around Meta Connect or another Meta hardware event. These remain unverified claims. There is no reliable primary-source specification sheet establishing a Gen 3 battery capacity, processor, camera, price, launch date, or retail availability. The important correction: Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 is already here
Meta and EssilorLuxottica officially identify the current generation as Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), not Ray-Ban Meta 3. Its confirmed improvements include:
- Up to eight hours of battery life, according to Ray-Ban’s official FAQ.
- An ultra-wide 12MP camera capable of 3K Ultra HD photos and video.
- Higher maximum volume and stronger bass.
- Prescription compatibility across the range, subject to frame and lens restrictions.
Meta engineering material says the battery cell increased from 160 mAh in Gen 1 to 210 mAh in Gen 2. Ray-Ban describes the resulting rated endurance as approximately twice that of Gen 1. Those are official Gen 2 figures—not leaked Gen 3 specifications.
“Up to eight hours” should not be interpreted as eight hours of continuous camera recording, calls, streaming, AI queries, or high-volume audio. Actual runtime depends on the feature mix, phone connectivity, temperature, and other usage conditions.

The optical Ray-Ban Meta already exists
In March 2026, Meta announced two optical-first Gen 2 styles: Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics and Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics. They are designed around prescription wear and all-day use, rather than being an unannounced Gen 3 product. Details are available in Meta’s prescription-glasses announcement.
The US Ray-Ban FAQ lists a total-power prescription range of -6.00 to +6.00 for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2. That figure should not be generalized to every frame, lens type, country, or optical provider. Before ordering, confirm:
- Spherical and cylindrical prescription limits.
- Progressive-lens and prism eligibility.
- Lens thickness and frame restrictions.
- Availability of transition, tint, and other lens options.
- Whether installation is being performed through a certified retailer.
Ray-Ban says prescription lenses can be fitted by an optometrist or preferred optical provider, but its warranty terms make certified-retailer installation especially important. Check the current warranty and prescription guidance before using an independent lens service.

What a genuine Gen 3 would need to improve
The following are sensible buyer priorities, not confirmed Gen 3 specifications:
- Longer real-world endurance without substantially thicker temples.
- Better heat management during camera and AI use.
- More frame sizes, bridge options, and prescription configurations.
- Wider support for progressive and high-index lenses.
- Lighter temples and improved balance for all-day wear.
- Easier lens replacement and clearer warranty rules.
