Redmi unveiled the Redmi Watch 5 and Redmi Buds 6 Pro at its China event on November 27, 2024, alongside the Redmi K80 series. The date is now historical: it was a China launch, not a global release scheduled for November 27, 2026. The Watch 5 arrived in standard and eSIM versions, while the Buds 6 Pro paired a triple-driver design with advertised active noise cancellation of up to 55dB. Later availability and features vary by market.
What Redmi announced on November 27, 2024
The November 27 event took place in China and introduced the Redmi Watch 5 and Redmi Buds 6 Pro alongside the Redmi K80 series. Pre-launch coverage listed a 7 p.m. China start time, equivalent to 4:30 p.m. in India. The event date refers to 2024; it should not be read as an upcoming launch. Gadgets 360’s launch coverage reported the announcement, while PhoneArena’s post-launch report covered the products and initial China availability.
Announcement, pre-orders and retail sales are separate milestones. The event unveiled the products for China; it was not a simultaneous worldwide release. Xiaomi listed products in some other regional stores later, but availability, specifications and features depend on the country and version.

The Watch 5’s headline feature is a 2.07-inch AMOLED display, reported at 432 × 514 pixels, with a claimed peak brightness of up to 1,500 nits and a 60Hz refresh rate. Redmi paired it with an aluminum-alloy frame and a stainless-steel rotating crown. The reported software is Xiaomi HyperOS 2—not Wear OS.

The standard model was advertised for up to 24 days of battery life. The eSIM version was rated for up to 12 days and adds cellular calling, messaging and walkie-talkie functions. These are manufacturer claims, not guaranteed runtimes; usage, settings and connectivity affect battery life, and the eSIM model’s claim is notably shorter.
NFC and smart-car-key functions were also reported, but such features are not universal. Their availability can depend on the watch variant, country, compatible vehicle, phone and local services. Do not assume that an imported China model will support the same payments, transit cards, languages, apps or cellular bands as a regional model. The black and silver color options were reported at launch. These details are summarized in PhoneArena’s launch report; Redmi Watch 5 should not be confused with the separate Redmi Watch 5 Lite.

Redmi Buds 6 Pro: drivers, ANC and listening features
The Buds 6 Pro are in-ear true-wireless earbuds built around a coaxial triple-driver arrangement: an 11mm dynamic driver with a titanium diaphragm and two 6.7mm piezoelectric ceramic drivers, according to Xiaomi’s global product page. Listed features include Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification, LDAC support, dimensional audio with head tracking, dual-device connectivity and Google Fast Pair on compatible Android devices. Three microphones and AI-assisted processing are specified for calls.

Those figures are measured separately under particular frequency ranges and conditions, not as simultaneous maximums. They are not a direct comparison with Bose, Sony, Apple or other earbuds: real-world isolation depends on fit, ear-tip seal, surroundings, wind and firmware.

Xiaomi claims up to 9.5 hours of playback from the earbuds, or up to 36 hours with the charging case. Its stated test conditions include AAC, 50% volume, ANC off and default settings, so use can reduce those figures. A five-minute charge is claimed to provide up to two hours of playback under Xiaomi’s test conditions.
There are feature trade-offs: Xiaomi says LDAC and dimensional audio cannot be used at the same time. LDAC needs a compatible source device and may affect battery life; it does not guarantee lossless audio from every app or stream. Spatial audio depends on compatible software and content. Audio sharing is limited to selected Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO and tablet devices, rather than being universal. The global product page provides Xiaomi’s specifications and compatibility qualifications.

China launch prices
Reported China launch prices were approximately CNY 599 for the standard Redmi Watch 5 and CNY 699 for the eSIM version. The Redmi Buds 6 Pro were reported at approximately CNY 399, with a CNY 499 Gaming Edition. These are China-market launch prices. Dollar equivalents sometimes published alongside them are currency conversions, not confirmed U.S. retail prices. The China listings are available through Xiaomi’s Watch 5 store page and Buds 6 Pro product page.
Where the products are available
Xiaomi later listed the Buds 6 Pro on its global product site, and official Xiaomi stores have listed the Watch 5 and Buds 6 Pro in Taiwan. Xiaomi Japan has also listed the Buds 6 Pro. That establishes availability in some markets, not a universal global release. Store prices and promotions vary: Taiwan listings have shown NT$1,799 for the Buds and NT$2,599 for the watch before temporary discounts, while a Japan promotion listed the Buds at ¥9,980 before a sale price. U.S. pricing and availability were not confirmed in the launch reports. Before importing a China unit, check warranty coverage, return costs, firmware and language support, app-region restrictions, cellular bands and eSIM carrier compatibility, plus payment and transit-card support. A marketplace listing alone does not establish official local support.
What the specifications mean for watch buyers
The Watch 5’s large, bright AMOLED screen, rotating crown and long claimed battery life may appeal to someone who wants notifications, fitness tracking and Xiaomi-phone integration without charging every day. The compromises matter: HyperOS is not Wear OS, and readers who depend on Google Wallet, a broad third-party app catalogue, ECG or a mature smartwatch ecosystem should verify those needs before buying. eSIM is useful only where the watch variant and carrier are compatible, and its advertised battery life is lower than the standard model’s.
For comparisons, treat the Watch 5 Lite as a different, lower-positioned product, not a substitute for Watch 5 specifications. Likewise, a move from the Watch 4 should be assessed against the newer display, HyperOS 2 and claimed battery figures, while remembering that manufacturer claims do not establish real-world runtime.
What the Buds 6 Pro features mean in practice
The Buds 6 Pro combine an ambitious driver layout, ANC, LDAC and head-tracked dimensional audio at a midrange China launch price. That makes them a feature-rich value option on paper, not a proven replacement for premium earbuds: no comparative testing here establishes class-leading noise cancellation or call quality. Fit is especially important because a poor seal can weaken bass, passive isolation and ANC.
They may suit Android listeners who can use Fast Pair and want LDAC or Xiaomi-device features. Buyers should check which features work with their phone and listening apps, and whether they value codec support or spatial effects more, since the two modes cannot be used together. iPhone users seeking close Apple ecosystem integration may prefer to compare platform-specific alternatives instead.
