Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch beta ended on October 24, 2024, when a stable Wear OS 5-based update reached enrolled Galaxy Watch6 beta participants. That was the start of the transition to stable software—not a simultaneous update for every Galaxy Watch. Samsung announced the broader rollout to supported Watch4, Watch5, Watch6 and Galaxy Watch FE models on November 19, 2024, with timing varying by model, market and carrier.
What Samsung ended—and what it didn’t
Wear OS 5 is the underlying smartwatch platform; One UI 6 Watch is Samsung’s interface and feature layer built on it. The beta in question was Samsung’s One UI 6 Watch program, not a beta for every Wear OS watch. On October 24, 2024, enrolled Galaxy Watch6 users began receiving a stable build, marking the end of that beta program. The contemporary report describes that transition.
It did not mean all eligible watches received stable software that day. Samsung subsequently announced broader availability on November 19, 2024. Rollouts were staged, and availability depended on watch model, Bluetooth or LTE configuration, region and, in some cases, carrier.

- June 2024: Samsung opened the One UI 6 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch6 series, later extending beta participation to older models, according to contemporary coverage.
- October 24, 2024: A stable build reached enrolled Watch6 beta users and the beta ended.
- October–November 2024: Samsung’s regional rollout information put Bluetooth models first and LTE models later, with timing subject to local conditions. See Samsung’s regional announcement.
- November 19, 2024: Samsung announced the wider rollout to previous-generation watches in the listed families. Samsung’s announcement gives the supported models and feature overview.
Which Galaxy Watches are included?
Samsung’s broader announcement included these model families. Exact firmware availability can still vary by country, carrier and model variant.

Samsung identifies the Galaxy Watch4 and newer as its Wear OS watch generation; earlier models use Tizen. See Samsung’s platform and setup guidance. “Galaxy Watch4 and newer” does not mean every later feature works on every model.
What One UI 6 Watch brought
The update introduced or expanded a group of health, fitness and interface features, including Energy Score, more personalized health insights, sleep-related improvements, fitness tools and refreshed watch faces. Samsung also carried selected experiences from the Watch7 and Watch Ultra to supported earlier models. The software upgrade does not make older hardware identical to newer watches.

Energy Score combines several signals, including sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate and sleeping heart-rate variability, to present a daily readiness-style score. The feature and other health tools depend on compatible hardware, software and companion apps. Certain Samsung Health Monitor functions can also depend on a Samsung phone, local availability or regulatory approval. Check Samsung’s Health Monitor documentation for the relevant function and market rather than assuming every feature is available on every supported watch.
Samsung Health and Google Fit are not interchangeable in every respect: Samsung says their data cannot be synchronized, and Google Fit on Galaxy Watch does not provide sleep tracking. See Samsung’s app guidance.

If you joined the beta
The October stable build returned enrolled Watch6 users to the normal stable-update track; they should not expect further builds from that beta program. If your watch was enrolled, check for and install any offered software update rather than assuming the beta-ending announcement means the stable transition completed automatically on your device. Timing was not necessarily identical across regions. Back up important watch data and keep the watch and paired phone charged and connected while updating.
How to check for One UI 6 Watch
Using Galaxy Wearable on your phone
- Open Galaxy Wearable on the paired Android phone.
- Tap Watch settings.
- Tap Watch software update.
- Tap Download and install if an update is offered, then follow the prompts.
On the watch
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update.
- Follow the on-screen instructions if an update is available.
Samsung notes that some models place the update option under About watch, About band or About Gear. Its software-update instructions also say the watch may need at least 30% battery to install an update. Keep the watch connected to the phone, use Wi-Fi where possible, and allow time for installation and restart. Wear OS Galaxy Watches require Android-compatible setup; Samsung says newer Wear OS models are not compatible with iOS. See Samsung’s compatibility guidance.

If the update is missing or stuck
A missing update does not necessarily mean the watch is unsupported. The rollout was staged, LTE firmware could follow Bluetooth releases, and local availability could depend on market or carrier. Other common blockers include outdated phone or Galaxy Wearable software, a low battery, insufficient storage, a beta build awaiting a transition update, or an incompatible paired phone.

- Confirm the model under Galaxy Wearable → Watch settings → About watch.
- Restart both the phone and watch.
- Update Galaxy Wearable through Google Play and install relevant Samsung app updates.
- Check again in Galaxy Wearable and directly on the watch.
- Make sure the phone meets the watch’s Android compatibility requirements and has current system components.
- If Samsung has announced availability for your market and the watch remains unable to update, contact Samsung support.
Avoid unofficial firmware flashing as a shortcut: firmware intended for another region or variant can cause serious problems, including a nonfunctional device.

Should you buy or keep an older Galaxy Watch?
Watch4 and Watch5 owners did receive an upgrade path, so the beta news alone is not a reason to replace a working watch. But software eligibility is only one part of the decision. Battery condition matters on an older or refurbished watch, and newer health features may rely on sensors an older model does not have. Check the exact feature requirements, the watch’s battery health and the remaining software support you need before buying used.
Also consider phone compatibility: Wear OS Galaxy Watches need Android and are not suitable for iPhone owners. If you want Wear OS apps and future Wear OS upgrades, a Galaxy Watch3 or earlier is the wrong generation because it runs Tizen. For exact regional model and carrier availability, consult Samsung’s compatibility page and the local support listings.
This is a retrospective on the October 2024 beta ending and late-2024 rollout, not a new August 2026 update announcement. To see the software currently installed on an individual watch, use Galaxy Wearable or the watch’s Software update screen.
