The Galaxy Buds3 FE are worth considering at Samsung’s current U.S. price of $119.99, especially for Galaxy phone owners who want active noise cancellation, a secure sealed fit, and Samsung’s ecosystem features without paying Pro money. They are not simply a cheaper version of the open-fit Galaxy Buds3, however. Their stem-and-silicone-tip design is closer to the Galaxy Buds3 Pro, while the single-driver hardware, lower water-resistance rating, lack of wireless charging, and missing premium features keep the price down.
This is a launch-era hands-on assessment updated with current U.S. pricing and specifications as of August 18, 2026.
What are the Galaxy Buds3 FE?
The Galaxy Buds3 FE are Samsung’s 2025 Fan Edition earbuds: a less expensive model designed to retain the core Galaxy Buds experience while trimming higher-end hardware and extras.

The most important clarification is that the Buds3 FE are not a miniature version of the open-fit Galaxy Buds3. They use silicone ear tips and a sealed in-ear fit, making their physical design more comparable to the Galaxy Buds3 Pro. Samsung launched them as the successor to the original Galaxy Buds FE, but with a new stem-style form factor.

As of August 18, 2026, Samsung’s U.S. product page lists the Buds3 FE from $119.99. That is below their original roughly $149 launch price and far below the Buds3 Pro’s listed $249.99 starting price. The current price makes the FE a stronger value proposition than it was at launch, although sale pricing can change the comparison.
Design and fit
The earbuds have a matte finish, a stem or “blade” shape, and silicone tips in three sizes: S, M, and L. The matte surface feels more restrained than the glossier treatment used by the Buds3 Pro, while the translucent or semi-transparent charging-case lid gives the case some visual distinction.
The case charges through USB-C and has a physical pairing button. Samsung lists Black and Gray finishes on its current U.S. page. Unlike the Pro model, the FE does not have blade lights.
The sealed fit is a major part of the buying decision. A good seal can improve passive isolation, bass response, ANC performance, and microphone behavior. A poor seal can produce weak bass and disappointing noise cancellation even when the earbuds are working correctly. It is worth trying all three included tip sizes rather than assuming the medium tips will fit.
The in-ear design should suit listeners who want a secure fit for commuting or exercise, but it will not suit everyone. People who dislike the pressure or occluded feeling of silicone tips may prefer the more open-fit Galaxy Buds3. The stem can also interact differently with glasses, hats, or hair depending on ear shape, so comfort should not be treated as universal.
Controls are more precise than ordinary touch controls
The Buds3 FE use stem gestures rather than relying only on taps on the earbud housing. Samsung describes these controls as follows:

- Swipe up or down: adjust volume.
- Pinch: play, pause, or skip depending on the configured gesture.
- Pinch and hold: activate a configured function, which can include supported translation-related controls.
- Voice controls: access compatible voice features, including Gemini on supported devices.
Pinching the stem can be easier to perform accurately than tapping the outer earbud, although the experience depends on how the earbuds sit in your ears. The controls are useful, but Samsung’s voice and AI features depend heavily on the connected phone and its software.

Sound quality: capable hardware, not Pro-level hardware
The Buds3 FE use a single 11 mm dynamic driver and a single amplifier. They support Bluetooth 5.4 and codecs including SBC, AAC, and Samsung Seamless Codec. Launch comparison coverage indicates that they do not support the Buds3 Pro’s SSC Ultra High Quality 24-bit/96 kHz mode.
A single-driver design does not automatically mean poor sound. The more practical questions are whether the tuning is enjoyable, whether the seal is consistent, and whether the earbuds preserve vocal clarity without becoming harsh at higher volume. The Buds3 Pro’s two-way woofer-and-tweeter system and dual amplification give it more ambitious hardware for separating bass, vocals, and treble, but that does not make the FE unsuitable for everyday listening.
Fit can change the sound substantially. If the ear tips leak, bass will usually be the first thing to suffer. Samsung’s EQ options may help tailor the presentation, but they cannot compensate for an unstable physical seal. Buyers who want the most spacious, detailed, or technically ambitious sound should stretch to the Pro when the price gap is small. For ordinary streaming, podcasts, calls, and commuting, the FE’s hardware is more defensible at $119.99 than its launch price suggested.
ANC and Ambient mode
ANC is one of the main reasons to choose the FE over basic wireless earbuds. Samsung says the Buds3 FE improve on the original Galaxy Buds FE and support both ANC and Ambient mode. Launch coverage attributed an ANC figure of up to 32 dB to Samsung, but that should not be interpreted as a universal real-world noise-reduction measurement.

That disagreement is not surprising: ear anatomy, tip selection, firmware, test equipment, and noise type all affect the result.

The FE should be most useful against steady low-frequency sound such as aircraft, buses, trains, and HVAC systems. Voices, wind, and high-frequency street noise are more difficult for any ANC earbuds. Ambient mode is useful when you need awareness, but its naturalness and the amount of hiss will vary by environment and fit.
Do not buy the FE solely because an advertisement uses phrases such as “class-leading ANC.” The sensible expectation is useful everyday noise reduction, with performance that can range from very good to merely adequate depending on the user and conditions.
Calls and voice features
Samsung says the Buds3 FE add a microphone and use enhanced background-noise reduction. Call performance should be judged by environment rather than by a single blanket verdict. Quiet-room calls are the easiest case; office chatter, wind, traffic, and public transport put much more pressure on the microphones.
Voice commands may also be affected by background noise, phone compatibility, and software support. The FE can be a practical calling headset, but buyers who make frequent calls in difficult outdoor conditions should look for independent microphone samples rather than assuming the marketing description guarantees clear speech everywhere.
Battery life, charging, and durability
Samsung’s current U.S. specifications list the following maximum figures:

Each earbud has a 53 mAh battery and the case has a 515 mAh battery. These are “up to” figures, not guaranteed results. Volume, calls, ANC, codec, temperature, and connection conditions all affect endurance.

The case uses USB-C. Samsung does not include a charging cable on the current U.S. product page, and wireless charging is not supported. That is a meaningful omission if you already charge a phone or premium earbuds on a wireless pad.

The earbuds are rated IP54. That means dust resistance and protection against fresh-water splashes under the specified test conditions. The case is not water-resistant. Do not swim with the earbuds, submerge them, take them into a pool or beach environment, or charge them while wet. Dry the earbuds and your hands before placing them in the case.
Samsung ecosystem features: useful, but not universal
Auto Switch is not conventional multipoint
Samsung’s Auto Switch can move audio between compatible Galaxy phones, tablets, and Galaxy Book PCs when the relevant devices, Samsung account, and software requirements are in place. It is convenient inside Samsung’s ecosystem, but it should not be described as universal Bluetooth multipoint.
If you regularly switch between, for example, a Windows laptop, an iPhone, and an Android phone, the FE may be less convenient than earbuds with standard multipoint.
360 Audio has clear limits
360 Audio works with compatible Galaxy smartphones and Galaxy Tab devices running supported One UI versions. The Buds3 FE do not support head tracking. The feature is therefore better understood as a compatible Galaxy video and spatial-audio option, not a full substitute for the Pro model’s broader feature set.
Gemini and Interpreter rely on the phone
Samsung’s Gemini-related functions require compatible devices and software; the cited support includes devices running One UI 8.0 or later, along with a Google Gemini account and other possible regional, language, and internet requirements.

Interpreter and translation features similarly require a compatible Galaxy device, Samsung account, supported language, and sometimes a language download. The earbuds are not independently translating speech. The phone, apps, account, internet connection, and language support perform much of the work.

The Buds3 FE can be used with Android and iOS devices for standard Bluetooth audio. ANC and ordinary listening are available in the relevant device environment, but feature parity is not the same across platforms.
- Works broadly: Bluetooth audio and standard listening, with ordinary call functionality depending on the device.
- Best on Galaxy: Auto Switch, 360 Audio, Galaxy AI integrations, deeper configuration, and Samsung Find-related features.
- Least suitable: iPhone users who expect a complete companion-app experience or seamless Apple ecosystem integration.

Choose the FE if you want the sealed fit, ANC, Samsung integration, and a substantially lower price. Choose the Pro when the gap is relatively small after discounts and you care about the two-way speaker system, higher-end codec support, IP57 protection, or premium adaptive features.
The Pro is technically superior, but it is not automatically better value. At a full $249.99, the FE’s lower price leaves room for its compromises. If the Pro is heavily discounted, the calculation changes quickly.
Galaxy Buds3 FE versus Galaxy Buds3
The regular Galaxy Buds3 use an open-fit design, while the FE uses silicone tips and a sealed fit. The FE can therefore provide stronger passive isolation and a more secure workout fit, while the Buds3 may be more comfortable for people who dislike in-ear pressure.
This is not simply a ranking where one model replaces the other. Fit preference determines much of the decision. Someone who cannot tolerate silicone tips may prefer the Buds3 even if the FE offers better isolation. Someone who needs commuting ANC and a stable seal may find the FE the more practical choice.
Who should buy the Galaxy Buds3 FE?
- Galaxy phone, tablet, or Galaxy Book owners who want ecosystem features.
- Listeners who prefer a sealed, secure fit.
- Buyers who want useful ANC below flagship pricing.
- People who do not need wireless charging or top-tier codec support.
- Anyone finding the FE near Samsung’s listed $119.99 price.
Who should buy something else?
- Choose the Buds3 Pro if a sale reduces the price gap and you value premium audio hardware, IP57, adaptive features, or higher-resolution codec support.
- Choose the regular Buds3 if you dislike silicone tips or the sealed feeling of in-ear earbuds.
- Choose another brand if universal multipoint, iPhone-first management, wireless charging, or stronger water protection is essential.
- Avoid relying on the FE for swimming or beach use: IP54 does not make the earbuds or case waterproof.
Verdict
At Samsung’s listed U.S. price of $119.99, the Galaxy Buds3 FE are a sensible mid-range choice for Galaxy owners. They deliver the essentials that matter most to many users—ANC, a secure sealed fit, stem controls, respectable battery claims, and Samsung integrations—without requiring the Buds3 Pro budget.
