Samsung is developing a next-generation Galaxy Ring, but the company has not formally announced a product called the Galaxy Ring 2. The ring was absent from Samsung’s July 22, 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event. Early 2027 is the leading reported window, not a confirmed launch date; Samsung has not announced its specifications, price, availability or iPhone support.
Here’s what is known, what remains rumor, and whether it makes sense to buy the Galaxy Ring Samsung sells today.
Is Samsung making a Galaxy Ring 2?
There is credible evidence that Samsung intends to make another Galaxy Ring. In June 2026, reports attributed comments about a future ring to a senior Samsung executive. That is stronger evidence than a patent filing or an unaffiliated leak, but it is not a product unveiling: Samsung has not published a Galaxy Ring 2 product page, specifications, launch announcement or preorder details. Android Authority’s report and TechRadar’s interview report are the basis for describing a successor as in development—not as officially unveiled.

Galaxy Ring 2 release date: early 2027 is a rumor
As of August 18, 2026, Samsung has not announced a public release date. The strongest current timing claim is a reported early-2027 reveal or launch, possibly around the next Galaxy S-series cycle. That is a forecast from secondary reporting, not a Samsung schedule, and it does not establish a month, preorder date, shipping date or country-by-country release. Android Central summarizes the early-2027 report.
Samsung’s July 22, 2026 Unpacked event introduced new foldables, watches and intelligent eyewear, but not a Galaxy Ring successor. That makes a 2026 launch less likely, though it does not rule out a later announcement. Samsung’s event recap lists the products presented.
Galaxy Ring 2 expected features: what reports suggest
Reports point to three plausible priorities for a successor: battery life, fit and sensor accuracy. None is a confirmed Ring 2 specification. A better fit could help comfort and keep sensors in consistent contact with the finger; more reliable readings could matter during sleep and everyday activity. Samsung has discussed computational design as a way to improve wearable fit, comfort and sensor performance, but that broader work is not proof of a finalized Ring 2 design. - Reported, not confirmed: longer battery life, more comfortable fit and improved sensor accuracy.
- Possible areas to watch: expanded sizing, a less intrusive profile, better durability, and closer integration with Samsung Health or Galaxy Watch. There is no confirmed Ring 2 information on these points.
- Unconfirmed: iPhone support, new health sensors, exact battery capacity, charging changes, colors, dimensions and materials.
There is no verified basis for saying the Ring 2 will have a display, GPS, cellular connectivity, a camera, a microphone, a speaker, ECG hardware, blood-pressure or blood-glucose measurement, or a particular AI assistant. Nor is any Ring 2 sleep-apnea capability confirmed. Treat claims about those features as speculation unless Samsung provides product-specific evidence.

What Samsung should improve—and why it matters
The original Galaxy Ring is a useful baseline, but ring shoppers should judge any successor against everyday fit and data quality, not a longer speculative feature list.
- Battery and charging: Samsung rates the current ring for up to seven days, depending on size and use. Real endurance varies, and charging interruptions can leave gaps in sleep or recovery records. A Ring 2 battery claim would need to be judged alongside practical use, not compared directly with another brand’s real-world test.
- Fit and sizing: A ring can feel different as fingers swell with heat, exercise or time of day. A loose fit may weaken sensor contact; a tight one can be uncomfortable. Ring sizing is not interchangeable with ordinary jewelry sizing because sensor placement and fit matter. Check the sizing process, return terms and available sizes before buying.
- Sensor consistency: Movement, temperature, contact and individual physiology can affect wearable readings. Look for clear performance claims and, eventually, independent testing—not just the promise of “more accuracy.”
- Durability and practical use: Buyers should check scratch resistance, warranty and replacement options. People who lift weights, handle tools or play contact sports may need to remove a ring. A ring is also less useful than a watch for live workout feedback.
- Compatibility and data control: Confirm which phones and Samsung Health features work in your country, what account is required, what data can be exported and whether any feature has separate terms.
Galaxy Ring 2 versus the current Galaxy Ring
The current model is a known, purchasable product; the successor’s details are not announced. The current US price below is a reference checked in August 2026, not a forecast for the Ring 2. Prices, stock, trade-in offers and feature availability vary by market and can change.

Samsung announced the original Ring on July 10, 2024. Its titanium body measures about 7.0 mm wide and 2.6 mm thick. Samsung’s original documentation gave a weight range of about 2.3–3.0 g for sizes 5–13; later documentation covering sizes 5–15 lists weights up to about 3.3 g. These figures describe different documented size ranges, not a Ring 2 specification. Samsung’s launch details and its later technical documentation provide the figures.

Should you buy the current Galaxy Ring or wait?

The trade-off is straightforward: buying now gets you a real product with known capabilities, but a successor could target battery, fit and sensor accuracy—the very areas that matter to many ring buyers. Waiting avoids buying immediately before a possible new generation, but leaves you without a confirmed date or guarantee that the features you want will arrive.
Will Galaxy Ring 2 work with iPhone?
There is no confirmed answer. Reports say Samsung has not ruled out iPhone support for a successor, but that does not establish that it will pair with iOS, that Samsung Health will support it on iPhone, or that every feature will be available. TechRadar reported the iOS possibility; Samsung has not published a compatibility specification.
These are separate questions: whether a phone can pair with the ring; whether Samsung Health is available and supports it; whether all health features work; and whether Galaxy-exclusive controls or AI features require a Samsung phone. Even if basic iPhone pairing arrives, full feature parity would need confirmation. Current Galaxy Ring buyers should also check the live regional product page: some current health and Galaxy AI features require a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone.

Samsung has announced neither a Ring 2 price nor its subscription policy. Do not assume the successor will cost the same as the current model or inherit its terms. For reference only, Samsung US showed the current Galaxy Ring from $299.99 before trade-in in August 2026. Before buying either generation, check the Samsung Health terms, Samsung account requirements, phone compatibility and whether advanced AI or health features have separate conditions. Samsung’s current US page says some Galaxy AI features require a compatible Galaxy phone. The Ring 2’s requirements are not known.
Alternatives if you need a wearable now
If you do not want to wait, choose by what you need rather than comparing products against Ring 2 specifications that do not exist yet. Oura is another established smart-ring platform to consider for sleep and recovery; check its current model, membership terms and price. RingConn and Ultrahuman offer different smart-ring ecosystems, which may suit people who do not use Samsung Health. Verify current prices, phone support and plan terms directly with each maker. For live exercise feedback, GPS and broader smartwatch features, compare a Samsung Galaxy Watch; it is more visible and less unobtrusive than a ring.
Health tracking is not medical diagnosis
The current Galaxy Ring is a wellness wearable, and no Ring 2 medical capabilities have been confirmed. Tracking and insights can help describe patterns, but they are not the same as diagnosing a condition. Fit, movement, skin contact, temperature, charging gaps and individual physiology can affect measurements. Do not treat a rumored sensor or a Galaxy AI insight as clinically validated evidence, and consult a health professional about medical concerns.

Why a successor could matter in Samsung’s wearable lineup
Samsung’s 2026 messaging presents wearables as part of a connected health and AI ecosystem: its Galaxy Watch is positioned as a health-focused AI companion, and the July Unpacked lineup also included intelligent eyewear. That suggests—but does not confirm—that a future ring could be marketed as a quieter, complementary health sensor rather than a smartwatch replacement. Samsung’s Watch positioning and its Unpacked recap show the broader strategy, not Ring 2 features.
Verdict
The Galaxy Ring 2 is best described as confirmed development, unconfirmed details, and likely 2027 timing. Wait if you want the next Samsung ring and do not need one now. Buy the current Galaxy Ring only if its known features and price work for you today. Do not make the decision on the assumption of a particular launch month, iPhone support, medical sensors or a price Samsung has not announced.
