The Samsung Galaxy Ring is a screenless health and wellness tracker designed to collect data in the background and send it to Samsung Health. It makes the most sense for Galaxy phone owners who want discreet sleep tracking, already use Samsung Health, and do not want a recurring subscription for the core experience. It is not a miniature smartwatch: there is no display, GPS, calls, or notifications.
In the United States, Samsung size-specific buying pages showed $399.99 in August 2026, while its main product page displayed “from $299.99.” Treat the $399.99 figure as the current purchase-page price signal, not a guaranteed checkout price, and confirm the live listing before ordering. The biggest practical cautions are Android feature differences, the need to size carefully, and the Ring’s limits as a workout or medical device.
What the Galaxy Ring is—and what it is not
The Galaxy Ring is a lightweight, screenless wearable for continuous wellness tracking. Its sensors collect information; a compatible phone and Samsung Health provide the setup, interface, and interpretation. Samsung lists an accelerometer, PPG sensor, and skin-temperature sensor. The Ring has no display, apps, cellular connection, standalone GPS, or on-device controls for reviewing detailed metrics. Samsung’s launch announcement describes the Samsung Health experience as having no subscription requirement for its core features (Samsung Mobile Press).
Think of it as a discreet sensor, not a smaller Galaxy Watch. Its appeal is low-friction tracking, particularly overnight, for people who find a watch uncomfortable in bed. You still need a phone to set it up, sync it, and see its insights.

What does the Galaxy Ring track?

Energy Score is a wellness summary, not a direct measurement of energy, fatigue, readiness, or disease. Samsung’s feature and prerequisite details appear on its Galaxy Ring purchase page. Treat scores, trends, and alerts as informational; consult a qualified clinician about medical concerns.
Which phones work with it?
Samsung’s launch materials specify Android 11 or later, more than 1.5GB of device memory, Bluetooth, Samsung Health, and a Samsung account for some services. Android compatibility does not mean every feature works identically on every Android phone. Basic setup and Samsung Health functions may be available on a compatible non-Samsung Android device, while Galaxy-specific capabilities such as the stated Energy Score insights have additional Galaxy AI phone requirements.
The Ring is not officially presented as iPhone-compatible in Samsung’s materials. If you use an iPhone, do not buy on the assumption that you can set it up or use its health features; choose a ring with an explicit iOS support path instead. Oura’s support documentation, for example, lists iOS 16 or later and Android 11 or later with Google Play services (Oura general FAQs).
How it works with a Galaxy Watch
The Ring can complement a compatible Galaxy Watch, especially when the watch comes off at night. When both are worn, Samsung says the Watch becomes the primary device for some measurements; some Ring functions, including heart-rate and sleep measurements, may switch off to conserve power. Samsung says this shared-tracking arrangement can extend Ring battery life by up to 30%. If the Watch battery runs out, Ring tracking resumes automatically, though data synchronization may not be immediate. See Samsung’s shared-tracking support page.
This arrangement is useful if you want the Watch’s screen, GPS, notifications, calls, and workout information during the day but prefer a ring overnight. It does not make the Ring a replacement for those interactive watch functions, and it means some Ring measurements may pause while the Watch is handling tracking.
Battery life and charging
Samsung’s current support page gives different estimates by ring size. These are manufacturer “up to” figures, not guaranteed runtimes; activity, measurement settings, syncing, temperature, firmware, and usage can affect battery life.

Samsung says a full charge in the charging case takes approximately 90 minutes. If the Ring is completely drained, initial activation may take at least 10 minutes. The case can be charged by cable or, with a compatible Galaxy phone or tablet, by placing it on the device’s back for reverse wireless charging. Details are in Samsung’s charging support article. Samsung lists a titanium construction, three finishes—Titanium Black, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Gold—and sizes 5 through 15. Published dimensions are approximately 7.0mm wide and 2.6mm thick, with weight varying from about 2.3g to 3.3g by size. Connectivity is Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4.
The Ring carries 10ATM and IP68 ratings. Samsung’s purchase-page terms describe 10ATM as resistance consistent with up to 100 meters of fresh water for up to 10 minutes, and IP68 as up to 6 feet of water for up to 30 minutes under the rating’s test conditions. These classifications do not mean unlimited waterproofing in every environment. Rinse residue and dry the Ring after exposure to water, soap, chlorine, or salt water. Samsung describes the finish as scratch-resistant, not scratch-proof.
- Remove it for heavy lifting, contact sports, and work with tools, metal, stone, or abrasive surfaces; a hard object can scratch or crush a ring and may trap the finger.
- Do not treat water-resistance ratings as a reason to leave residue on the device or expose it indefinitely.

How to choose a size
Do not assume your ordinary jewelry size will transfer. Samsung warns that Galaxy Ring sizing differs and recommends using its sizing kit, then wearing the sample for more than a day before confirming an order. That extra time matters because fingers can swell overnight, during exercise, or in heat.

- Order Samsung’s sizing kit and try the likely candidate size.
- Wear it for at least a full day and overnight rather than judging it after a quick try-on.
- Check comfort when making a fist, gripping objects, typing, and sleeping; consider how the fit may change with heat or exercise.
- Confirm only when it remains comfortable and secure across those conditions. A loose fit can reduce sensor contact; a tight fit can become uncomfortable as fingers swell.
The sizing sample helps select a size; it does not guarantee perfect sensor accuracy. The US range runs from sizes 5 through 15. Samsung’s product page explains its sizing-kit guidance.

Price, included items, and returns in the US
As of August 2026, Samsung size-specific US buying pages showed $399.99, financing advertised at $16.67 per month for 24 months, or four installments of $100 every two weeks. The main product page separately displayed “from $299.99,” so Samsung’s pages do not present a consistent price signal. Promotions, trade-in eligibility, or page context may explain the difference, but the discrepancy is unresolved: check the actual selected size and checkout total before buying. The purchase page showed trade-in offers up to $150 subject to terms, and Samsung Care+ at $49 for a two-year term. These are US page offers and can change.
The US purchase pages list the Galaxy Ring, its charging case, and a USB-C charging cable in the box. A wall adapter may not be included; Samsung says an existing charger plug can be used with the cable. Samsung purchase pages also warn that returns may incur a 5% restocking fee unless the item arrived damaged or defective. Read the current terms before ordering, particularly if sizing is uncertain. Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch, or Oura?

Oura lists iOS 16 or later and Android 11 or later with Google Play services, and ties detailed app functionality to membership; its current membership cost varies by country and should be checked on its live page. See Oura’s official FAQs. There is no basis here to declare either ring categorically more accurate: comparisons depend on metric, fit, software, wear conditions, and study design.

Who should buy the Galaxy Ring—and who should skip it?
It is a good fit if you
- Use a compatible Android phone, especially a Samsung Galaxy phone, and already use Samsung Health.
- Want sleep and wellness tracking without wearing a watch all night.
- Prefer not to pay a recurring subscription for the core tracking experience.
- Are comfortable checking results on a phone and willing to take time to get the fit right.
- Own a Galaxy Watch and want a more comfortable overnight companion.
Look elsewhere if you
- Use an iPhone or need broad, verified cross-platform support.
- Want notifications, calls, maps, GPS, or live workout metrics on the wearable.
- Need a standalone tracker that works without a phone, or clinically validated medical monitoring.
- Cannot wear a ring consistently or regularly do activities likely to scratch, crush, or trap it.
- Expect every Samsung Health or Galaxy AI feature to be available on every Android phone.
