Reports on June 25, 2024 said Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 and the device then widely called the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra had appeared in China’s 3C certification system. The reported listings pointed to LTE versions and Samsung charging hardware, making them a useful sign that launch preparations were well advanced—but not a complete specification leak.
What appeared in the Chinese certification reports?
Coverage from Gizmochina and Sammy Fans said Samsung’s watches had been listed in China’s Compulsory Certification database, commonly known as 3C. The reports identified the following details:
- The LTE Galaxy Watch 7 was associated with model number SM-L315.
- The larger watch was reported as SM-L705; some coverage rendered it as SM-705.
- The listing was associated with Samsung adapter model EP-T1510.
This was a regulatory database report, not a Samsung announcement, product page or retail listing. The available coverage cited the 3C database but did not provide a directly inspectable official database record, so the model and adapter details should be attributed to those reports.

What 3C certification means—and what it does not
China Compulsory Certification is a conformity system used for products sold or otherwise regulated in China. A watch or related power accessory appearing in the system can indicate that Samsung is working through regulatory preparation. It does not, by itself, establish that a product will launch globally, ship immediately in China, or use exactly the same configuration in every market.

- It does not guarantee a worldwide launch date.
- It does not prove immediate Chinese retail availability.
- It does not establish final consumer specifications or pricing.
- It does not prove that every listed adapter will be included in the retail box.
- It does not demonstrate that the Chinese LTE model will work with US or European carriers.
The most defensible reading was therefore that Samsung was certifying hardware connected with LTE watch variants and a charging setup, rather than revealing the complete products.
What the listing supported
The reports provided several reasonably strong clues:
- LTE variants were in preparation. The reported SM-L315 and SM-L705 families were presented as cellular versions of the upcoming watches.
- The model families were moving through a formal regulatory process. That is consistent with a launch approaching in mid-2024.
- Samsung charging hardware was involved. Adapter reference EP-T1510 appeared alongside the reported watch entries.
The timing mattered. The reports appeared roughly two weeks before Samsung was expected to hold Galaxy Unpacked in Paris on July 10, 2024, making the certification a credible launch-readiness signal.

The 3C reports did not independently confirm the watches’ core consumer specifications. At that point, the following remained unverified by the certification story:

- Display dimensions and resolution
- Processor, memory and storage
- Battery capacities
- Case materials, colors and band options
- Water-resistance and durability ratings
- GPS hardware
- Health sensors and sleep-apnea detection
- Galaxy AI functions
- US, European or other regional pricing
Those details circulated through leaks, retailer pages and speculation, but they should not be presented as facts established by a 3C appearance.
The 10W charging question
Charging was the easiest detail to overstate. Sammy Fans described the certification evidence as involving a 10W adapter-related result and contrasted it with a separate, alleged 15W FCC detail. Gizmochina identified the Samsung adapter reference without turning it into a complete watch-charging specification.
The cautious conclusion is that EP-T1510 was associated with the regulatory or test setup. The evidence does not establish the maximum charging speed of the final retail watches. Regulatory testing can use a lower-power adapter than a device’s theoretical or separately certified maximum, and an adapter listing may describe included, compatible or test equipment rather than the watch’s charging limit.
Why the name “Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra” was temporary
Before launch, leaks and secondary reports commonly called the larger model the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra. Samsung ultimately used the official name Galaxy Watch Ultra, without the “7.” That distinction matters: the Ultra launched as a separate premium tier alongside the numbered Watch 7 rather than as an officially named Watch 7 variant.

What Samsung eventually announced
Update: Samsung unveiled both watches on July 10, 2024, confirming the date anticipated in the certification coverage. In the United States, pre-orders opened that day and general availability followed on July 24, according to Samsung’s official announcement.

The final products showed why the certification could only tell part of the story. Samsung’s comparison information lists the following differences:

Samsung’s Hong Kong specification page for the Ultra lists a 47mm case, 32GB storage, 2GB memory, a 3,000-nit display, a 590mAh battery and up to 100 hours in power-saving mode. How the pre-launch prices compared with reality
Gizmochina reported an Amazon Canada listing for the Watch 7 at about 358.55 Canadian dollars, which it converted to roughly $262 US. The same report cited rumored Galaxy Watch Ultra pricing of approximately €689–€699. Those were retailer and rumor signals, not Samsung’s official global MSRPs.
Samsung’s eventual US prices were different: the Galaxy Watch 7 started at $299.99 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra launched at $649.99. Retailer listings can be provisional, region-specific or incorrect, so they should not be treated as launch confirmation.
How to read the certification story
- Separate the evidence levels. The 3C reports supported model existence, LTE preparation and an adapter association. They did not validate every leaked feature.
- Keep regional limits in view. Chinese certification does not prove identical hardware, pricing or carrier compatibility elsewhere.
- Treat model suffixes carefully. Country, carrier and Bluetooth/LTE configurations can produce different endings. Later Samsung product pages use the SM-L705 family for Ultra LTE variants, while early reports were inconsistent.
- Do not convert an adapter listing into a charging guarantee. The reported 10W figure conflicted with an alleged 15W FCC detail and may describe testing equipment rather than final capability.
- Use the final name. Samsung launched the product as Galaxy Watch Ultra, not Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra.
Bottom line
The June 25, 2024 3C reports were a meaningful regulatory breadcrumb: they indicated that LTE versions of Samsung’s next watches, associated with model families SM-L315 and SM-L705, were moving toward release. They were not a full specification leak. Samsung’s July 10 announcement confirmed the approaching launch, revealed the official Galaxy Watch Ultra name and supplied the pricing and specifications that the certification could not.
