The $230 Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 deal was real, but it was a historical Black Friday 2024 offer—not a current promotion. Engadget reported the 40mm Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi Galaxy Watch 7 in Cream at Amazon for $229.99 on November 21, 2024, down from its listed $299.99 price.
That was a $70 reduction, or roughly 23% off. The deal did not apply to every Galaxy Watch 7: the 44mm and LTE versions were separate, more expensive configurations.

Engadget described the offer as a record low for the model at the time. That claim needs a date qualifier: later Black Friday coverage from 9to5Google reported selected 40mm Amazon variants at approximately $202.60 on November 25, 2024. In other words, $230 was an excellent deal when reported, but it was not necessarily the lowest price reached by every Watch 7 variant during the entire shopping period.

Why the Galaxy Watch 7 was appealing
The Galaxy Watch 7 was Samsung’s mainstream flagship smartwatch for 2024. Its appeal came from a combination of Wear OS 5, a newer processor platform and expanded health and wellness software.
- Wear OS 5: Google’s smartwatch platform supports apps, notifications and Google services.
- Health tracking: Samsung highlighted improved heart-rate tracking and broader activity and wellness monitoring.
- Energy Score: The watch combines activity, sleep and other tracked information into a daily wellness indicator.
- Sleep insights: Sleep-related measurements and guidance are designed to help users identify patterns.
- Suggested replies: Galaxy AI features can suggest message responses, although permissions, supported apps and compatible Samsung hardware may be required.
- Sleep-apnea feature: Samsung describes this as a software-only feature requiring a compatible Galaxy Watch and phone.
These are tracking and wellness capabilities, not a guarantee of medical accuracy or a substitute for professional care. Samsung’s sleep-apnea disclosures specifically describe the function as an over-the-counter software medical application with device, phone, account, region and software requirements.

Engadget’s deal article also noted that it had not reviewed the Galaxy Watch 7 itself, so its price coverage should not be treated as a full hands-on review verdict.
What the deal did not include
It was not the 44mm model
The discounted watch was the smaller 40mm version. The 44mm Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi model is a separate configuration with a larger case and display and a higher price. Samsung’s U.S. listings have shown the 44mm Bluetooth model at $279.99, compared with $249.99 for the indexed 40mm Bluetooth model.
The 40mm case is generally the better fit for smaller wrists and shoppers focused on price. Choose 44mm if screen size is more important than minimizing the purchase cost. Do not assume that battery endurance is identical between the two sizes without checking the current specifications.

It was not an LTE model
The $230 watch used Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi connectivity. It was not the 40mm or 44mm LTE version.

Who should consider an equivalent deal?
- Samsung Galaxy-phone owners: The watch is most attractive when paired with Samsung’s ecosystem and Samsung Health.
- Android users seeking Wear OS: A discounted Watch 7 can provide a full-featured smartwatch experience below $250.
- Buyers who carry a phone: Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi avoids the added cost of LTE service.

The newer watch may offer generational improvements, but a deeply discounted Watch 7 can remain the stronger value if its features meet your needs.
For the best comparison, first decide whether you need 40mm or 44mm and Bluetooth or LTE. Then compare the exact configuration’s current price against the newer model—not just the headline product name.
