The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is Samsung’s premium rugged smartwatch for Galaxy phone owners who want a large display, longer battery life, LTE, dual-frequency GPS, and stronger outdoor features than the standard Galaxy Watch line. In the US, Samsung’s current MSRP is $649.99 before tax, promotions, trade-in credits, accessories, or cellular service. It is a strong choice for runners, hikers, cyclists, swimmers, travelers, and multisport users—but its 47mm case is large, and Samsung’s headline “up to 100 hours” battery figure applies to Power Saving Mode rather than ordinary mixed use.
Samsung launched the original Ultra in 2024 and continues to list 2025-refresh color and SKU variants. The confirmed product platform remains broadly the same: a 47mm titanium LTE watch with a 590mAh battery, Exynos W1000 processor, 32GB storage, and Wear OS at its launch. This guide reflects Samsung’s US listings and pricing as of August 18, 2026.

Price and availability
Samsung’s June 2026 US MSRP file lists the Galaxy Watch Ultra LTE at $649.99. Samsung continues to sell the watch through its US website and Shop Samsung channels, although color availability, inventory, trade-in values, and promotions can change.
#1 Best Overall
- 47mm - 1.5" Super AMOLED, 480x480px, 590mAh Battery, MIL-STD 810H certified, IP68/10ATM 100m water resistant, ECG certified
- 64GB, 2GB RAM, Exynos W1000 (3nm), Penta-core, Mali-G68 GPU, Android Wear OS 5, One UI Watch 8 with AI Assistant
- Unlock your full potential with Galaxy AI: Track and improve your fitness performance, monitor heart health with precision, get personalized wellness tips, optimize your sleep for better health, stay connected with smart replies, and enjoy music or podcasts on the go—all from your Galaxy Watch.
- Compatible with Android devices Only. Supports Google Pay. 3G: 850/900/1700/2100/1900/2100MHz, 4G LTE: 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/18/19/20/25/26/28/40/66/71 - eSIM.
- International Model - No Warranty. 100% Unlocked but Most US carriers may not allow International models. Will still work as Bluetooth Watch. Works outside US with all carriers. (Country selection may not be available during setup. Select Any, as Country will updated later after Connecting to WIFI in Settings.)
The Ultra is listed as an LTE configuration in the cited US pricing material. That does not mean cellular service is included: LTE activation normally requires a compatible carrier plan, may add a recurring monthly charge, and can consume more battery when the watch is away from the phone.
Samsung also lists 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra buying pages, including Titanium Gray, Titanium Silver, Titanium White, and newer Titanium Blue variants depending on inventory and market. Do not assume that every 2024 and 2025 listing represents a completely different internal watch. The original 2024 model launched with the Exynos W1000, Wear OS 5, 590mAh battery, and 32GB storage; Samsung’s available documentation does not establish a major hardware redesign for the refresh. Check the exact model number, region, LTE status, included band, warranty, and return policy before buying.
For comparison, Samsung’s June 2026 US MSRP list gives the following prices:
| Model | Bluetooth MSRP | LTE MSRP |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch8 40mm | $349.99 | $399.99 |
| Galaxy Watch8 44mm | $379.99 | $429.99 |
| Galaxy Watch8 Classic | $499.99 | $549.99 |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra | — | $649.99 |
The Ultra therefore costs $100 more than the Watch8 Classic LTE at listed MSRP. Whether that premium is worthwhile depends mainly on battery, case protection, outdoor controls, GPS requirements, and LTE use—not simply on the number of health features.
Design, size, and display
The Ultra is a large watch by design. Its 47mm case measures about 12.1mm thick and weighs 60.5g before the band is attached. Grade 4 titanium helps keep the bare watch lighter than an equivalent steel construction, but it does not make the Ultra small or discreet.
Its cushion-style case surrounds a circular display and gives the watch a more protective, outdoor-oriented profile. A dedicated Quick Button can launch workouts or other configured functions, while Samsung’s interchangeable band system is intended for activities such as running, hiking, and swimming. A band is supplied with the watch, but replacement-band fit and availability should be checked for the specific Ultra attachment system rather than assumed from ordinary Galaxy Watch bands.
The size is an advantage for map views, workout data, notifications, and outdoor readability. It can also be a disadvantage on smaller wrists, under clothing, or during sleep. Comfort depends on wrist size, band tension, and whether the added case size is useful to you; Samsung does not make the Ultra universally comfortable.

The 1.5-inch Super AMOLED display has a 480 × 480 resolution and a claimed peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. That is a peak specification, not a promise that the panel will sustain 3,000 nits in every mode or environment. Always-on display, high brightness, and outdoor visibility can improve usability while increasing power consumption. Samsung also promotes night-visibility watch faces for dark environments.
Performance and software
The original Ultra uses Samsung’s five-core, 3nm Exynos W1000 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It launched with Wear OS 5 powered by Samsung, giving it access to Wear OS applications, Google Play services, notifications, and Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health ecosystem.
Setup normally involves the Galaxy Wearable app and a compatible Android phone. The watch can work with non-Samsung Android phones in some configurations, but Samsung Galaxy ownership matters because some health and ecosystem features require a compatible Samsung phone. Feature access can also vary by country, software version, carrier, and regulatory approval.
Wear OS and One UI Watch software can change during the product’s life. The launch operating system should not be treated as proof of the exact software version installed in 2026. Check Samsung’s current update and compatibility documentation for the specific model and phone you plan to use.

Health and fitness features
Samsung promotes a broad set of wellness and exercise tools, including:
- Heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, cycle tracking, and body composition.
- Energy Score, personalized heart-rate zones, and Running Coach.
- ECG and irregular heart-rhythm notifications where supported.
- Sleep-apnea detection where supported.
- AGES Index, Vascular Load, and Antioxidant Index features where available.
- Fall detection and SOS functions.
- Functional Threshold Power for cycling.
- Multisport tracking for combining activities such as swimming, cycling, and running.
- GPX route support for running, walking, hiking, and cycling.
The Ultra’s outdoor focus is more apparent in the Quick Button, multisport tile, exercise power-saving mode, GPX support, and large display than in any single wellness metric.
Health features are not identical in every country. ECG, sleep-apnea detection, blood-pressure-related features, irregular-rhythm notifications, and other measurements may require a Samsung Galaxy phone, Samsung Health, specific software, and local regulatory clearance. They are wellness and monitoring tools—not substitutes for diagnosis, treatment, or professional medical advice. Do not interpret the watch as detecting heart attacks, diagnosing sleep disorders, or replacing a medical device.

GPS and outdoor tracking
The Ultra supports L1+L5 dual-frequency GPS. Using two frequency bands is designed to improve positioning in difficult conditions such as dense cities, tree cover, and mountainous terrain, where reflected or obstructed signals can reduce accuracy on simpler systems.

Dual-frequency GPS does not guarantee a perfect track. Results still depend on satellite visibility, terrain, buildings, foliage, weather, route geometry, software, and the selected activity mode. The watch’s GPS also does not provide satellite messaging or emergency communication when cellular and Wi-Fi coverage are unavailable.
For outdoor users, the practical feature set includes route import through GPX files, hiking and cycling support, multisport workouts, personalized heart-rate zones, and a dedicated physical control for quickly starting exercise. These tools are more compelling for regular outdoor activity than for someone whose smartwatch use is limited to notifications, steps, and occasional gym sessions.
LTE and phone-free use
The Ultra can provide more independence from a phone through 4G LTE, but it is not a smartphone replacement. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi provide the broadest connected experience when the watch is paired with a phone or network. LTE can support calls, messages, data, selected apps, and emergency functions away from the phone when the watch is activated on a compatible carrier.
Before paying extra for LTE, confirm:
- That your carrier supports the exact Galaxy Watch LTE model and region.
- That your phone and watch can use the carrier’s number-sharing or connected-device service.
- The activation process and recurring wearable-line charge.
- Whether roaming works in the countries you visit.
- How calls, texts, emergency functions, and data behave away from the phone.
Samsung explains that standalone LTE availability varies by country, carrier, network environment, and product. LTE use away from the phone can also reduce battery life, particularly when combined with GPS, streaming, or weak cellular coverage.
Battery life: what “up to 100 hours” means
The Ultra has a 590mAh battery, but Samsung’s battery figures describe different operating conditions:
| Scenario | Samsung’s stated figure or qualification |
|---|---|
| Power Saving Mode | Up to 100 hours |
| Always-on display | Up to 60 hours in Samsung’s comparison specification |
| Exercise power-saving mode | Up to 48 additional hours according to Samsung’s support material |
| GPS, LTE, high brightness, health tracking, and notifications | Actual endurance will be lower and varies with usage |
These are not interchangeable estimates of ordinary battery life. GPS-heavy workouts, LTE away from the phone, always-on display, bright outdoor viewing, music playback, frequent notifications, and continuous health monitoring all consume power. A buyer should understand “100 hours” as a maximum claim for a restricted power-saving scenario, not a guarantee of four days of normal full-featured use.

- UPDATES THAT GIVE YOU THE EDGE: Navigate the wild more easily with Now Bar⁵ and an improved user experience. Now Bar conveniently puts the info you use the most - like weather, timers, directions and more - right on your main Watch screen.
The larger battery makes the Ultra easier to live with than many smaller smartwatches, but sleep tracking still requires a charging strategy. You may need to charge before or after sleep, during a shower, or while preparing for an activity. Power-saving modes can limit or disable functions, so confirm which features remain active before relying on them for a long trip.
Charging speed and charger compatibility should be checked separately. Do not assume that every Qi charging pad will charge the watch normally or at its intended speed.

Samsung lists a Grade 4 titanium case, IP68 dust and water resistance, 10ATM water resistance, and MIL-STD-810H testing. These specifications support the Ultra’s outdoor positioning, but they do not make it indestructible or “military-proof.” MIL-STD-810H is a test-standard claim, not a guarantee against every impact, temperature, chemical, or environmental condition.
IP68 and 10ATM are controlled-condition ratings. Water resistance can decline with age, impact, repairs, seal wear, and exposure to chemicals. “10ATM” should not be simplified to “safe for diving,” and a water-resistance rating does not override Samsung’s activity guidance or warranty terms. Rinse the watch appropriately after exposure to salt water, chlorine, or other contaminants and avoid treating the rating as permanent protection.
Galaxy Watch Ultra vs Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic
The regular Galaxy Watch8 is the better-value choice for many users. Its 40mm and 44mm options are smaller and cheaper, and its listed US MSRP ranges from $349.99 to $429.99 depending on size and LTE. Choose it if your priorities are notifications, sleep tracking, walking, gym workouts, general wellness, and a lighter case.
The Watch8 Classic LTE costs $549.99 at the listed US MSRP—$100 less than the Ultra—and offers a more traditional watch appearance. It is the better fit if you prefer a rotating-bezel design, do not need the Ultra’s outdoor emphasis, and can accept a smaller battery and less rugged construction.
The Ultra earns its premium through the combination of a 590mAh battery, titanium case, 10ATM rating, large display, dual-frequency GPS, Quick Button, outdoor workout tools, and LTE configuration. It is not automatically a better watch for every Galaxy owner; it is a more specialized watch for users who will use those advantages.
Quick Recap
Who should buy the Galaxy Watch Ultra?
Buy it if you:
- Regularly run, hike, cycle, swim, or combine multiple sports.
- Want more battery capacity than Samsung’s standard watch range offers.
- Need a large, bright outdoor display and dual-frequency GPS.
- Want a rugged titanium watch with 10ATM and IP68 ratings.
- Want LTE connectivity away from your phone and accept the carrier cost.
- Use a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone and Samsung Health features.
- Are comfortable with a large 47mm case.
Choose another Galaxy Watch if you:
- Want a thinner, lighter, or smaller watch.
- Mainly need notifications, sleep tracking, walking, and general wellness.
- Do not need LTE, 10ATM water resistance, or outdoor-specific controls.
- Want to save roughly $200 to $300 against the Ultra’s listed MSRP.
- Prefer the traditional look and rotating bezel of the Watch8 Classic.
Reconsider it if you:
- Use an iPhone.
- Expect a full week of normal use with LTE, GPS, and complete tracking enabled.
- Do not want an ongoing cellular charge.
- Need medical monitoring rather than general wellness features.
- Have a small wrist and dislike thick, heavy watches.
Buying checklist
- Confirm that the listing is for the 2024 original or a 2025-refresh SKU and compare the exact model number.
- Verify LTE status, regional compatibility, included band, warranty, and return policy.
- Check carrier support before paying for LTE.
- Budget for cellular service, tax, accessories, replacement bands, and possible protection coverage.
- Treat $649.99 as the US MSRP, not a guaranteed sale price or trade-in-adjusted price.
- Confirm that desired health features are available in your country and work with your phone.
- Do not buy it solely for the “100-hour” claim unless Power Saving Mode meets your needs.
