Samsung Health Monitor is available across many regions, but it is not a single globally uniform service. ECG, blood-pressure monitoring, Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN), and sleep-apnea screening each have separate country lists, hardware requirements, and regulatory approvals.
According to Samsung’s country document updated July 13, 2026, your access depends on the feature you want, the exact Galaxy Watch model, the Samsung Galaxy phone it is paired with, the devices’ purchase markets, and their software versions. A compatible watch alone does not guarantee access.
What is Samsung Health Monitor?
Samsung Health Monitor is the companion app for selected Samsung Galaxy Watches and Samsung Galaxy phones. It contains health-monitoring functions that are more restricted than the broader Samsung Health ecosystem, including:
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings and heart-rhythm classification.
- Blood-pressure estimates after calibration with an upper-arm cuff.
- Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification.
- Sleep-apnea screening.
- Storage, review, and—where supported—export of selected health reports, including ECG PDFs.
Samsung Health is the wider fitness and wellness platform for exercise, sleep, activity, and health records. Samsung Health Monitor is the separate app used for the more medically oriented or regulated features.

Where is Samsung Health Monitor available?
The most accurate answer is feature-specific. Samsung’s July 13, 2026 Software as a Medical Device country document lists ECG, blood pressure, IHRN, and sleep apnea separately.
| Feature | Availability pattern | Typical hardware threshold | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| ECG | Available in many markets across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Oceania, but not every country. | Active2 and Watch3 in some markets; Watch4 and newer in others. | The country list and model tier vary. |
| Blood pressure | Has its own country list, which does not exactly match ECG availability. | Active2 and Watch3 in some markets; Watch4 and newer in others. | Requires an upper-arm cuff and calibration every 28 days. |
| IHRN | Listed separately and generally associated with Galaxy Watch4 and later supported models. | Galaxy Watch4 or newer, depending on market and released model. | A notification is not the same as a diagnostic ECG recording. |
| Sleep apnea | Expanded internationally, with a separate list covering many markets in North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Oceania. | Galaxy Watch4 or newer; U.S. instructions specify Wear OS 5.0 or later. | It screens for signs of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea, not every type of sleep apnea. |
Samsung previously announced sleep-apnea availability in 70 markets in June 2025. That was an expansion milestone, not a permanent universal count; the newer country document is the better reference for current availability.

Why availability differs by country
Samsung describes these functions as software requiring country-specific medical-device approval or registration. Regulatory standards, review timelines, local implementation, and product-market rules differ from one jurisdiction to another.
Regional firmware, Galaxy Store distribution, phone and watch model variants, and the market where the devices were purchased can also affect access. Samsung warns that service may be restricted when users travel to unsupported countries. Factory-resetting a phone, or deleting and reinstalling the app while abroad, may also affect availability. See Samsung’s regional Health Monitor information for its travel warning.
FDA clearance or approval in the United States does not automatically make a feature available in another country. Likewise, owning a watch bought in a supported country does not guarantee that a phone bought elsewhere will expose the same function.

Compatible phones and watches
Samsung’s general requirements include:
- A compatible Samsung Galaxy phone running Android 12 or later.
- A compatible Galaxy Watch, generally Galaxy Watch Active2 or newer for supported app functions.
- At least 10 MB of free watch storage.
- Current phone, watch, and Samsung Health Monitor software.
- Bluetooth pairing through Galaxy Wearable.
- Devices purchased in, and being used under, supported market conditions.
Samsung Health Monitor is not officially supported on iPhone, non-Samsung Android phones, Samsung fitness watches, or Galaxy Fit devices. Sleep-apnea screening requires at least a Galaxy Watch4. Samsung’s U.S. instructions specify Android 12 on the phone and Wear OS 5.0 on the watch for that feature.

How to check your own availability
- Identify the country where the phone and watch were purchased.
- Check the exact Galaxy Watch model and its software version.
- Confirm that the phone is a compatible Samsung Galaxy device running Android 12 or later.
- Open Samsung’s current country-availability document.
- Check ECG, blood pressure, IHRN, and sleep apnea separately.
- Confirm any narrower model or operating-system requirement for your chosen feature.
- Update both devices and pair the watch through Galaxy Wearable.
- Install Samsung Health Monitor from the Galaxy Store after pairing.
Samsung says the app becomes available for installation after a compatible watch is connected to a Galaxy phone and the required software is up to date. If the feature is still missing, check the country and purchase-market conditions before treating it as a hardware fault.

How to set up the main features
General installation
- Pair the watch and phone in Galaxy Wearable.
- Update the phone, watch, and relevant Samsung apps.
- Open the Samsung Health Monitor page on the connected phone and tap Install.
- Open the app, accept the information, and grant the requested permissions.
- Create a profile and select Get started when the watch is detected.
ECG
- Open Samsung Health Monitor on the watch.
- Wear the watch snugly on the selected wrist.
- Rest your forearms on a table and remain still.
- Lightly place a fingertip on the watch’s top button.
- Stay still and silent for about 30 seconds.
- Review the result on the watch or in the phone app.
The ECG records electrical activity similar to a Lead I ECG and may classify the recording as normal sinus rhythm or possible atrial fibrillation. A result is not a complete cardiac assessment. Samsung’s support materials also explain how to review history and export an ECG report as a PDF.
Blood pressure
- Obtain a compatible upper-arm blood-pressure cuff.
- Calibrate the watch against the cuff.
- Repeat calibration every 28 days.
- Take readings while following the required resting, posture, and positioning instructions.
The cuff is sold separately. The watch estimates blood pressure using calibrated data; it does not replace a standalone clinical blood-pressure cuff. Samsung’s U.S. rollout began in phases on March 31, 2026, so availability should be checked for the specific account and device rather than assumed from the presence of the feature in another market.
Sleep apnea
- Open Samsung Health Monitor on the connected phone.
- Tap the Sleep apnea tab and enable the feature.
- Wear the watch snugly, approximately 1–2 inches above the wrist bone.
- Sleep with it for two nights within a 10-day period.
- Record approximately four hours of sleep each night.
- Review the result in Samsung Health Monitor.
Samsung says analysis can take up to 90 minutes after a qualifying night. The feature looks for signs of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea. It is not intended to diagnose central sleep apnea or every other form of the condition.

Why a feature may be missing
- Country mismatch: your country supports ECG but not the feature you want.
- Imported hardware: the phone and watch were purchased in different regions.
- Model limitation: the watch is too old for that particular function.
- Outdated software: the watch, phone, or Health Monitor app needs an update.
- Unsupported phone: the phone is an iPhone or a non-Samsung Android device.
- Phased rollout: the feature is approved but not yet enabled for your market or device combination.
- Travel or reset: Samsung says travel to an unsupported country, a factory reset, or reinstalling the app abroad may affect access.
Update both devices, confirm the current country list, and pair through Galaxy Wearable. Do not treat unofficial APKs, CSC changes, or modified apps as an authoritative solution: they can bypass intended restrictions, create safety problems, and stop working after updates. Contact Samsung support if the official requirements are satisfied but the feature remains unavailable.
What Samsung Health Monitor can—and cannot—tell you
Samsung Health Monitor can make selected heart, blood-pressure, and sleep observations more convenient, especially for people already using a Galaxy phone and watch. It is not a complete diagnostic system.
- A normal ECG does not rule out every heart condition.
- IHRN is an alert feature, not the same as recording a diagnostic ECG.
- Blood-pressure readings are estimates dependent on correct cuff calibration and measurement technique.
- A negative sleep-apnea result does not rule out sleep apnea.
- The sleep-apnea feature does not detect central sleep apnea and is intended to identify signs of moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea.
- Do not change medication or treatment based solely on an app result.
Samsung’s support information restricts the relevant functions to users aged 22 and older and warns that people with implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers or cardiac defibrillators should not use them. The sleep-apnea feature is also not intended for people who have already been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Anyone with symptoms or concerning readings should seek medical advice.

Is Samsung Health Monitor worth choosing?
It is a sensible choice for an existing Samsung Galaxy user in a supported country who wants ECG, heart-rhythm alerts, sleep screening, and integrated reports in the Samsung ecosystem.
It is a conditional choice for blood-pressure monitoring because the watch still requires a separate upper-arm cuff and calibration every 28 days. Someone whose main priority is dependable blood-pressure measurement may prefer a clinically validated standalone cuff.
It is a poor fit for iPhone owners, users with non-Samsung Android phones, buyers in unsupported countries, or anyone expecting a smartwatch to provide a complete clinical diagnosis. Before buying, verify the country, feature, watch generation, operating system, phone model, and purchase-market combination—not just the watch’s advertised health features.
