Samsung’s One UI Watch 6 beta began rolling out on June 12–13, 2024, but it was never a worldwide or universal release. The first wave targeted selected Galaxy Watch owners in the United States and South Korea, with Galaxy Watch6 Bluetooth models reportedly first in line. Older Wear OS Galaxy Watches and LTE versions were expected to follow in stages.
This was a public preview of Samsung’s next watch software, not the finished release. One UI Watch 6 was based on Wear OS 5 and introduced new health insights, interface changes, gestures, watch controls, and battery options.
Important current context: this beta is now a historical launch event. Samsung began the wider stable One UI 6 Watch rollout on November 19, 2024.

What actually launched?
Samsung opened a limited public beta for One UI Watch 6, the company’s software layer for Galaxy Watches. The beta ran on Wear OS 5, Google’s underlying smartwatch platform, and was intended to collect feedback before the stable release.

Samsung’s announcement described eventual beta access for Galaxy Watch4, Watch4 Classic, Watch5, Watch5 Pro, Watch6, and Watch6 Classic owners in the United States and South Korea through Samsung Members. However, the first live rollout was narrower: contemporary reports identified Galaxy Watch6 Bluetooth models as the initial devices receiving access, with expansion expected later.
That difference explains the “for some” qualification. Being listed as an eligible model did not mean that every owner could enroll immediately.
Samsung’s announcement outlined the broader beta plan, while contemporary launch reporting documented the narrower first wave.

LTE owners should not interpret the early Bluetooth-first rollout as a permanent exclusion. Reports differed on timing, but LTE access was expected to follow separately.

Galaxy Watch3 and older models were not part of this Wear OS beta. Samsung identifies the Galaxy Watch4 and newer generations as its relevant Wear OS models; earlier watches use Tizen. The beta also required a compatible Android setup rather than an iPhone. See Samsung’s compatibility and support information.
How to check for the beta
- Pair an eligible watch with a compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
- Open the Samsung Members app.
- Look through the promotional or feature cards at the top of the app.
- Select the One UI Watch 6 beta card if it appears.
- Read and accept Samsung’s beta terms, then register.
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app and check for a watch software update.
The enrollment card may be absent even when the watch is from an announced eligible family. Possible reasons include the user’s country, watch firmware, connectivity model, paired phone, software versions, staged availability, or a full beta capacity. Samsung also notes that beta availability can depend on the specific device, operating-system version, and country; installing Samsung Members alone does not guarantee access.
If you enrolled but cannot see the update, first update Samsung Members, Galaxy Wearable, and the watch plug-in. Then restart the phone and watch, confirm the watch is paired to the phone used for enrollment, and check the software-update screen again. Keep the watch charged and connected reliably. Avoid repeatedly factory-resetting it simply because a staged update has not appeared.
A VPN is not a reliable workaround. Eligibility can involve the watch firmware, Samsung account, phone, and service region, so changing your apparent IP address may not make an unsupported device eligible.

What did One UI Watch 6 add?
More personalized health insights
The beta’s central feature pitch was Galaxy AI-assisted health guidance. Samsung highlighted more detailed sleep analysis, energy-level insights, and recommendations based on information such as activity, sleep, sleeping heart rate, and heart-rate variability.
The later stable-release explanation describes Energy Score as drawing on sleep, activity, sleeping heart rate, and sleeping heart-rate variability. These are wellness insights and recommendations—not medical diagnoses. Availability can vary by watch, paired Galaxy phone, Samsung Health version, country, and regulatory approval. Samsung discusses the AI health features in its One UI Watch 6 announcement.
Double-pinch interaction
A double-pinch gesture could be used for actions such as selecting interface elements, moving through notifications, and dismissing or controlling alarms. Samsung presented it as a more deeply integrated interaction, although it should not be described as an entirely unprecedented capability: it was related to the company’s existing Universal Gestures feature.

Messaging and watch-face changes
The beta added favorite emojis for quicker replies and allowed users to save message attachments to the watch. Saved images could be viewed in Gallery and used with a photo watch face.
Visual refinements included a new default font and a more modern interface treatment. Users who had selected a different font were reported to retain that choice after upgrading.
Battery and audio improvements
Power-saving mode gained controls that allowed users to limit some health features, potentially extending battery life at the expense of functionality.

When music playback started, the watch could automatically connect to an available Bluetooth headset or speaker. If no Bluetooth audio device was available, playback could use the watch speaker when supported by the music app.

Why availability was so restricted
Three separate limits shaped the launch:
- Geography: the initially announced beta markets were the United States and South Korea, not the entire world.
- Hardware: Samsung announced several eligible Wear OS watch families, but the first live build appeared on a smaller group, led by Watch6 Bluetooth models.
- Staging: Samsung could release access by model, connectivity type, firmware, or capacity rather than making the update available to everyone at once.
As a result, an owner in Europe, Canada, India, or another market could have a qualifying watch and still see no beta card. The same applied to an LTE owner during the Bluetooth-first phase.
Should you have installed the beta?
The beta made sense for enthusiasts who wanted early access and were comfortable reporting bugs. It offered an opportunity to try the new health insights, gesture controls, and interface changes before the stable update.
Waiting was the safer choice for anyone who depended on the watch for reliable notifications, communications, health tracking, or cellular connectivity. Beta software can affect battery life, sensors, notifications, apps, and Bluetooth or LTE behavior. Health features may also be incomplete or inconsistent.

- Sync important health and watch data first.
- Do not use beta software as a substitute for medical advice or a dependable medical device.
- Assume that leaving the beta may require a reset or another recovery procedure; do not expect rollback to be effortless.
- Avoid installing it on a watch that you cannot afford to troubleshoot or temporarily lose access to.

What happened after the beta?
The beta began in June 2024, expanded to additional Galaxy Watch4 and Watch5 Bluetooth models later that month, and continued through further test builds in July. Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch7 generation on July 10, 2024, as the reference generation for the new software.
On November 19, 2024, Samsung announced wider stable One UI 6 Watch availability for the Galaxy Watch6, Watch6 Classic, Watch5, Watch5 Pro, Watch4, Watch4 Classic, and Galaxy Watch FE. Therefore, One UI Watch 6 should not be treated as an active beta opportunity today. Owners checking their watches now should look for the stable software offered for their model and region instead.
