Solos AirGo3 smart glasses are real, but they are not augmented-reality glasses with ChatGPT floating in front of your eyes. Announced on September 27, 2023, AirGo3 is a family of conventional-looking, open-ear Bluetooth glasses that use the Solos AirGo app and a connected iPhone or Android phone to deliver spoken AI answers.
That makes them interesting for hands-free questions, translation, notifications, reminders and calls. It also means they depend on a phone, an internet connection and Solos’ software. They have no visual display, and most AirGo3 models do not have cameras.
What Solos AirGo3 actually is
AirGo3 is a modular smart-eyewear platform rather than a headset. Its electronics are built into the temples and hinge areas, while interchangeable front frames let buyers switch between optical-style, sunglass and sport designs. Solos offers prescription and specialty-lens configurations on selected models.

The glasses use open-ear speakers, microphones, Bluetooth connectivity and a physical button or touch control. Audio remains audible to the wearer without sealing the ears like earbuds, although sound leakage can be noticeable in quiet surroundings.

The original launch covered three main frame families:
- Argon: sport-oriented frames, originally priced at about $249–$299.
- Xeon: everyday optical or sunglass-style frames, originally about $199.
- Helium: sport sunglasses, originally about $199.
For the original announcement, see Solos’ AirGo3 launch release. The original “new” claim belongs to 2023; it should not be treated as a 2026 launch announcement.
How the ChatGPT integration works
ChatGPT and other AI functions are accessed through the Solos AirGo app, not installed as a fully independent ChatGPT computer inside the frames.
- Pair the glasses with a compatible iPhone or Android phone.
- Install and configure the Solos AirGo app.
- Use the glasses’ control or the app to activate the assistant.
- Speak a question or request.
- The phone app sends the request to the relevant online AI service.
- The response is played through the glasses’ open-ear speakers.
In practical terms, the glasses act as a hands-free microphone and speaker system for a phone-mediated assistant. Without the paired phone, Bluetooth connection or network access, cloud AI functions will be limited or unavailable.

Buyers should also avoid assuming that a personal ChatGPT Plus subscription automatically unlocks AirGo3. At least some current AirGo3 product listings state that personal ChatGPT-account login is not supported. Solos’ own app integration, account requirements and subscription terms are separate matters. Check the exact product page and in-app terms before buying.
What you can ask AirGo3 to do
The 2023 launch messaging focused on conversational voice assistance. Examples included asking for travel suggestions, getting recipe help while cooking, asking general questions, sharing conversation transcripts, translating spoken language, reading notifications aloud and receiving reminders or wellness prompts.
Solos’ current AirGo app materials describe a broader software ecosystem that includes voice, text and image-based conversations, real-time web search, object and scene recognition, productivity tools, communication features, multiple AI models—including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini—and real-time translation modes. Those are current app-level capabilities and should not automatically be read as features of the original September 2023 AirGo3 launch build.

Solos has also promoted live translation and group communication features. However, the original coverage did not independently test translation accuracy, supported-language performance or latency. “Live translation” is therefore best treated as a Solos-described capability, not a guarantee of reliable two-way interpreting in every situation.

Why they look more normal than AR glasses
AirGo3 looks relatively ordinary mainly because it does not contain a large visor or a projected display. The frames resemble regular glasses or sunglasses, with the required hardware concentrated in the temples. Interchangeable fronts make it easier to choose an everyday or sport appearance.
That does not mean the glasses are invisible. Temples must accommodate batteries, speakers, microphones, Bluetooth hardware and controls, so some models may be thicker than ordinary eyewear. Fit, frame width, lens configuration and prescription availability vary. “Normal-looking” is a subjective design judgment, not a technical measurement.
AirGo3 is not display-based augmented reality
AirGo3 does not overlay text, maps, translated captions or graphics onto the wearer’s view. AI responses are heard, not seen.

This distinction matters when comparing AirGo3 with display-based AR headsets or camera-equipped AI glasses. A non-camera AirGo3 model cannot automatically see a menu, identify an object through its lenses, photograph a scene or show navigation directions in the wearer’s field of view. Current Solos app descriptions mention image recognition, but Solos also sells newer camera-equipped products; those capabilities must not be merged with ordinary non-camera AirGo3 specifications.

Hardware, battery and current pricing
Current official Solos listings place AirGo3 models at roughly $199–$299, depending on the frame. The collection includes models that are unavailable or backordered, so the price range is not the same as guaranteed availability. Check the exact model, country and date on the official AirGo3 collection before treating a listing as purchasable.

Battery figures are manufacturer estimates, generally tied to particular usage conditions. Calls, repeated AI queries, notifications, translation and other simultaneous functions can reduce runtime compared with light music playback. IP67 should not be interpreted as unlimited waterproofing.

- Charge the glasses and enable Bluetooth on the phone.
- Pair the glasses through the app or phone settings.
- Grant the permissions required for Bluetooth, microphone, notifications and any relevant location or camera functions.
- Create or sign in to the required Solos account.
- Test a short voice request and confirm that the reply routes to the glasses.
- Configure translation, notification reading, reminders and any premium features separately.
Because AirGo3’s AI is phone- and cloud-dependent, it is less useful when the phone is unavailable, the app loses its connection or network service is poor. Responses may also take longer than interactions performed directly on a phone.

The subscription changes the value calculation
Solos’ original announcement described a $9.99-per-month premium plan with benefits including enhanced text-to-speech, standalone SolosChat, improved AI performance and expanded AI language capabilities. Current plan names, prices and entitlements can change, so verify them in the AirGo app or checkout before publication or purchase.
The real cost can therefore include the frame, prescription or specialty lenses and a recurring AI fee. A $199–$299 hardware price should not be presented as the complete ownership cost for every buyer.
AirGo3 compared with the alternatives
- Choose AirGo3 if your priority is discreet, open-ear eyewear with spoken AI access and you accept phone dependence.
- Choose camera-equipped AI glasses if visual recognition, photography or scene-based questions matter more than the simpler audio-first design. Confirm the exact model; later Solos products are not interchangeable with AirGo3 specifications.
- Choose ordinary Bluetooth audio glasses if you mainly want music and calls without a proprietary AI ecosystem or recurring AI subscription.
- Choose a phone and earbuds if you already own suitable glasses and want broader assistant choice, easier app switching and no specialized eyewear purchase.
Privacy and practical limitations
Voice requests, recordings, transcripts and AI responses pass through a phone app and online services. Review Solos’ current privacy and data-retention terms, particularly before using the glasses for sensitive conversations. In public spaces, also consider whether recording or transmitting speech could affect bystanders.

Open-ear audio helps preserve awareness of surroundings, but it is not private in the way sealed headphones can be. The lack of a camera reduces one category of privacy concern on non-camera AirGo3 models, but it does not eliminate the issues associated with microphones, cloud processing or spoken notifications.
Who should buy them?
AirGo3 makes the most sense for someone who wants to ask hands-free questions, hear reminders or notifications, take calls and listen to audio without wearing earbuds or a conspicuous AR headset. The interchangeable-frame approach is also more practical for people who want prescription-style or everyday eyewear.
They are a weaker fit for anyone expecting visual AR, camera-based AI, guaranteed standalone operation, high-end visual recognition or a one-time purchase with no possible subscription. Buyers should also check stock carefully because official listings show inconsistent availability across AirGo3 variants.
Verdict
Solos AirGo3 succeeds at making phone-connected AI eyewear look more like ordinary glasses than futuristic computing hardware. Its ChatGPT connection is genuine in the sense that Solos provides spoken access to OpenAI-related features, but the experience is mediated by the Solos app, a smartphone and online services. The product is best understood as audio smart glasses with an AI layer—not AR glasses, not a standalone ChatGPT device and not automatically a camera-equipped visual assistant.
