TAG Heuer’s Connected Calibre E4 Golf Edition was a dedicated golf configuration of its fourth-generation smartwatch, offered in 42 mm and 45 mm titanium versions. It combined TAG Heuer Golf mapping and shot-tracking tools with a luxury-watch case and materials. It is no longer a current release: TAG Heuer’s US product pages mark both sizes as discontinued, though old stock and pre-owned examples may still appear.
Quick verdict: It suits golfers who value TAG Heuer design and want golf functions built into an everyday smartwatch. It is a harder sell if your priorities are long battery life, the deepest golf analytics, or the best golf capability for the money.
What the Golf Edition added
This was more than a standard Calibre E4 with a golf-themed watch face. TAG Heuer sold it as a dedicated Golf Edition with golf styling, straps and accessories, alongside the TAG Heuer Golf app. Both sizes used a titanium case with black DLC treatment, a ceramic bezel marked for the 18 holes, a sapphire crystal and an AMOLED display. TAG Heuer described the 45 mm model as an ultra-light titanium golf watch and the 42 mm as the more compact option. See the 42 mm specifications and 45 mm specifications.
The defining proposition was a luxury smartwatch with an integrated golf experience—not a dedicated golf computer with luxury styling as an afterthought.

Golf features: maps, distances and shot tracking
TAG Heuer said the Golf app covered more than 40,000 courses. Its tools included high-resolution 2D course maps, distances to targets and hazards, scorekeeping, club recommendations and performance statistics. Coverage is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee that every course—especially a less common local course—has equally complete or accurate mapping. Check your home courses before buying.
The app was designed to detect swings and track shots automatically, reducing the need to enter every shot by hand. TAG Heuer’s Golf Edition brochure describes shot distances and accuracy, club statistics, adaptive recommendations based on recorded performance, and Driving Range heat maps showing where shots landed. TAG Heuer also described full-shot tracking from tee to green, including putting; its Full Shot Tracking explanation gives more detail. On iOS, the brochure also describes shareable 3D-shot videos.

These are intended features, not a promise that every swing will be captured correctly. Practice swings, chips, putting, wrist choice, GPS lock and unusual swings can complicate automatic detection. A missed or misidentified shot may need correction, and the available product material does not establish a guaranteed detection rate.

Both models share the core golf platform; the 45 mm is not a fundamentally more capable golf watch. Its larger display and battery come with a thicker, more prominent case. The 42 mm is the smaller-wrist option, while the 45 mm may be easier to read at a glance. TAG Heuer’s battery figures are estimates, not a promise of a full day under every configuration.

Smartwatch platform, compatibility and battery
Both sizes used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+, Wear OS by Google, sapphire crystal, heart-rate sensor, compass, microphone, barometer, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and GNSS. They were rated water-resistant to 50 metres. The official product pages list Android and iOS compatibility, but that does not mean every function works identically on every phone. TAG Heuer notes that availability may vary with platform, country, language and phone configuration, including Android configurations and Wear OS availability in China. Check the product-page compatibility notes against your actual phone and region.
TAG Heuer specified about 90 minutes for charging and approximately one day of battery life. GPS and sport use, display brightness, notifications, Wi-Fi, other apps and battery age all affect endurance. This is a watch to charge regularly, not a multi-round golf watch on the strength of its golf mode alone. For a used example, battery health and whether the proprietary charger is included matter as much as the original specification.

In 2026, the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ and Wear OS platform are also a generation-old foundation. That is a reason to treat future compatibility and support as buyer risks, not evidence of a specific end-of-support date. TAG Heuer’s E4 pages reference the newer Connected Calibre E5 generation as its successor; buyers who want the newest TAG Heuer platform should investigate that current generation separately.
Price, availability and whether it is worth it
TAG Heuer’s US pages show historical/listing prices of $1,500 for the 42 mm and $1,650 for the 45 mm, but mark both discontinued. Those figures are not current offers or reliable indicators of what a remaining or pre-owned watch should cost. Launch-era pricing can also be confusing: Bloomberg’s coverage of the broader Calibre E4 range cited higher starting prices of $1,800 for 42 mm and $2,050 for 45 mm. Range launch prices and later Golf Edition listings are not interchangeable, so consider any price in context rather than treating one number as a universal launch price.
The premium made more sense for the titanium construction, sapphire, finishing, TAG Heuer styling and golf-specific accessories than for golf data alone. Dedicated golf watches are generally the more practical choice for longer battery life, golf-first analytics and value. For an active golf ecosystem, compare Garmin’s golf GPS range and the luxury-oriented Garmin MARQ collection. Shot Scope GPS watches are another golf-first alternative to assess for course tools and analytics at a lower price tier. For an iPhone user prioritizing general smartwatch integration, Apple Watch Ultra is a different proposition; golf capability depends on the app chosen rather than TAG Heuer’s integrated experience.
Who should consider one now?
- TAG Heuer enthusiast: A plausible choice if you want the brand, materials and golf tools together, and find a genuine unit at a price you consider reasonable.
- Golf-first buyer: Compare current Garmin or Shot Scope options first if battery endurance, analytics or value matters most.
- Smaller-wrist buyer: The 42 mm case is the more compact choice, with a smaller display and battery.
- Buyer wanting a larger screen: The 45 mm offers more display area and battery capacity, but is thicker and larger on the wrist.
- iPhone user: Verify the functions you need on iOS and do not assume Apple Watch-level integration.
- Used-market shopper: Check authenticity, battery condition, charger, purchase documentation, warranty terms and app/phone compatibility before paying. A listing described as “new” may simply be old inventory.
Because these models are discontinued, prefer TAG Heuer, an authorized retailer or a reputable pre-owned specialist where possible. No current resale price can be inferred from the old official listing price; availability and condition vary.
