The roughly $25 Spigen Liquid Air case does not redesign the Pixel Watch 4, but it addresses two practical complaints: the watch’s exposed glass body and the difficulty of charging it in a case after Google moved the charging contacts to the side.
Spigen listed the Liquid Air at $24.99 on its U.S. site when checked on August 18, 2026. It is available in separate 41mm and 45mm versions and includes a case-specific charging stand designed to work while the case remains installed.
What problem does the Pixel Watch 4 case solve?
The phrase “Google’s biggest design flaw” is subjective framing from the original coverage, not an established engineering consensus. The underlying complaint is practical: the Pixel Watch 4 has a rounded, glass-heavy exterior that is vulnerable to everyday knocks, while its new charging system makes older accessories and many generic cases unreliable.

Google moved the charging contacts from the back of the watch to its side. That change is not purely negative. Google says the Pixel Watch 4 charges 25% faster than the Pixel Watch 3, reaching 0–50% in 15 minutes with the Quick Charge Dock. However, the new design creates a new alignment problem for cases and stands.

The side-contact architecture also means owners should not assume that a Pixel Watch 2 or Pixel Watch 3 charger, stand or case will work with the Pixel Watch 4.
How the Spigen Liquid Air works
The Liquid Air is a snap-on protective shell with raised edges around the watch face. It is designed to reduce exposure to scratches and everyday bumps while leaving the crown, buttons, sensors and charging contacts accessible through dedicated cutouts.

Its most useful feature is the included charging stand or adapter. Spigen says the stand is designed specifically for the Liquid Air, allowing the Pixel Watch 4 to charge without removing the case. That is more convenient than using a case that must be taken off every night.

A third-party stand may also fail if the case changes the distance or alignment between the watch and its side contacts.

The Rugged Armor Pro combines a protective case with an integrated band and includes its own dedicated charging stand. Spigen’s current category listing showed it at $34.99, rather than the approximately $25 price associated with some earlier coverage.
Choose the Liquid Air if you want to retain your current band and mainly need protection from desk edges, door frames and ordinary impacts. Choose the Rugged Armor Pro if maximum coverage matters more than the original look or band choice. Its stand is intended for the Rugged Armor Pro band, not for other bands or uncased charging.

What the Liquid Air does not protect against
The case’s raised edges can help shield the display during everyday contact, but they do not make the watch scratch-proof, shatterproof or drop-proof. A direct impact or hard fall can still damage the screen or body. The case is risk reduction, not insurance, and it is not equivalent to a sapphire crystal display.
A separate screen protector may provide additional coverage, but verify that it does not interfere with the case or the side-mounted charger. Do not assume that installing a case preserves or improves the watch’s water resistance. Follow Google’s water-use guidance and any instructions from the accessory manufacturer.

Compatibility checks before buying
- Match the size. Buy the 41mm case for a 41mm Pixel Watch 4 and the 45mm case for a 45mm model. They are separate versions.
- Check the charging method. The Liquid Air’s included stand is designed for that case. Google’s Quick Charge Dock supports the 41mm and 45mm Pixel Watch 4, but do not assume it will work with every case installed.
- Confirm contact alignment. After installation, make sure the watch sits fully in the stand, the charging contacts are unobstructed and the watch reports that it is charging.
- Check functions after fitting. Spigen provides sensor cutouts, but its compatibility claims are manufacturer claims rather than independent sensor testing. Confirm that heart-rate, blood-oxygen, ECG, temperature and workout functions behave normally.
Who should buy it?
Buy the Liquid Air if you frequently hit your wrist against hard surfaces, work around tools or desks, worry about cosmetic damage, or want to charge without removing a case. At the checked price, it is the best-value option in this comparison for owners who want to keep their existing band.
Choose the Rugged Armor Pro if you are willing to replace the stock band and want a more complete protective system. The higher price buys an integrated case-and-band design, but also limits you to its dedicated charging setup.
Skip both if you rarely expose the watch to impacts, strongly prefer the original minimalist appearance, already have a verified compatible protective setup, or want one stand to work with bare and cased watches alike.
Bottom line
The Spigen Liquid Air is worthwhile because it combines basic body protection with case-on charging for $24.99 at the latest listed U.S. price check. It does not fix every weakness of the Pixel Watch 4, and it cannot guarantee protection from serious impacts or preserve water resistance. But for owners concerned about exposed glass and inconvenient charging, it is the most sensible low-cost solution.
For heavier protection, spend more on the Rugged Armor Pro. For a bare watch, Google’s Quick Charge Dock remains the straightforward official option. Whichever route you choose, buy the correct 41mm or 45mm version and verify charger compatibility rather than relying on the case’s appearance alone.
