Verdict: The TicWatch Atlas is a compelling Android smartwatch if you want a rugged, oversized design, an always-readable low-power display and several days between charges. Its 1.43-inch AMOLED, Wear OS apps, GPS and health tracking make it more capable than a basic outdoor watch. But in 2026 it is still running Wear OS 4, and Mobvoi’s future update commitment and product availability are uncertain. Buy it only at a substantial discount—and only if battery life matters more to you than current software, long-term support or advanced outdoor tools.
Best for: Android owners who want a durable-looking daily smartwatch, multi-day battery life and Google services. Skip it if: you use an iPhone, need LTE, have a small wrist, expect the newest Wear OS features or rely on top-tier health and navigation tools.

Mobvoi announced the Atlas in October 2024 as its most rugged TicWatch. It shares the Pro 5 family’s broad platform and dual-display idea, but wraps them in a larger, more overtly outdoor-style case. It is a full Wear OS watch for notifications, apps, payments and everyday fitness—not a dedicated expedition device in the Garmin Fenix mould. Launch announcement · Mobvoi specifications.
Built to look tough—and it is genuinely well protected
The steel-and-aluminum case, fiberglass-reinforced nylon, sapphire crystal and chunky bezel give the Atlas a substantial, industrial look. Mobvoi lists a weight of 47.2 g, but that is not necessarily the weight you feel on your wrist: an independent review described a worn setup above 80 g, likely with the strap included. The distinction matters when comparing it with lighter watches. The 24 mm fluororubber strap is replaceable, while the case is available in black or silver.

At 52.2 mm wide, the Atlas is a large watch. On smaller wrists it can overhang, feel top-heavy or catch on sleeves; it is worth trying on if you are unsure. The rotating crown gives you a physical way to navigate, although the broad case and crown may be less convenient during some exercises. The rubber strap is practical for sweat and water, but a large watch and strap can feel warm, and the thickness may be intrusive for sleep tracking. Its rugged appearance is not especially discreet with formal clothing.
Mobvoi lists MIL-STD-810H testing and a 5ATM water rating, and specifies open-water swimming. Those are useful durability credentials, not a promise that every watch will survive every impact or environment. MIL-STD-810H does not guarantee protection from all drops, temperatures or accidents. A 5ATM rating is suitable for swimming-related use under appropriate conditions; it is not an endorsement for scuba diving or high-pressure water sports. After salt water, mud or sunscreen exposure, rinse and dry the watch as appropriate, and do not treat sapphire or a rugged case as damage-proof. Mobvoi’s specifications.
The dual display is the Atlas’s best idea
The 1.43-inch, 466 × 466 AMOLED provides the colorful, sharp interface for maps, apps and watch faces. Above or alongside it in the display system is an ultra-low-power screen that can show the time and selected workout information while using far less power. That means you can glance at basic metrics without waking the brighter AMOLED every time.

The trade-off is that the low-power display is simpler and less polished; it is not a substitute for the AMOLED when you want detailed visuals. Battery life: strong, but the headline numbers need context
Mobvoi rates the 628 mAh battery for up to 90 hours in Smart Mode and up to 45 days in Essential Mode. These figures describe different operating modes, not two estimates of ordinary smartwatch use. Smart Mode retains the full smartwatch experience; Essential Mode prioritizes basic, low-power functions and gives up much of what makes the Atlas a Wear OS watch. Real endurance depends on the settings and workload. GPS workouts, frequent AMOLED use, always-on settings, health-monitoring frequency, sleep tracking, Wi-Fi, notifications, calls and music can all shorten it. Cold weather and an aging battery also reduce runtime. Reviews vary: Wareable praises battery life, while Phandroid reported roughly two to four days in its use. If your watch falls well short of your expectations, check whether the AMOLED is always on, how often health sensors sample, and whether GPS, Wi-Fi or music are being used frequently. Compare Smart Mode with Essential Mode separately: a long Essential Mode run is not comparable to normal connected smartwatch use. The Atlas is a better choice for people who want fewer charging stops, not for anyone expecting weeks of full Wear OS functionality.

The Atlas runs Wear OS 4. It supports the Play Store and familiar Google services including Maps, Wallet and Messages, along with notifications and compatible Wear OS apps. The Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage provide capable foundations, and reviews generally describe navigation and app use as reasonably smooth. The software version, rather than basic speed, is the bigger concern.
By 2026, newer Wear OS releases and Google features have moved ahead. Reviewers noted the absence of native Google Assistant support, and the Atlas does not offer newer features such as Gemini support. More importantly, Mobvoi has not provided a clear, reassuring feature-update roadmap. Recent reporting says TicWatch products have disappeared from some Mobvoi and retailer listings and describes Mobvoi’s position as continuing “essential” support. That is not an official confirmation that the company has exited the smartwatch market, nor proof that the Atlas will receive no updates. Mobvoi’s companion-app experience can also feel less straightforward than buying into Google, Samsung or another larger ecosystem. The Atlas remains a useful Wear OS watch today, but its future value is less certain than its hardware suggests. If current software, a documented support commitment or the latest Google features are high on your list, choose a newer watch with a clearer update position.

Fitness, health and GPS: broad coverage, mixed confidence
The Atlas tracks heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, sleep stages, sleep blood oxygen, respiratory rate during sleep, stress, steps, calories and daily activity. It includes more than 100 exercise modes, automatic workout detection, a compass, barometer and altitude-related tracking. Selected field and court sports get heat maps. This is a broad feature set for a general-purpose smartwatch.

Review findings are mixed: GPS and some heart-rate or calorie comparisons were described as reasonably solid, but Wareable found optical heart-rate reliability weaker than some rivals, and blood-oxygen readings were not consistently precise. Fit, wrist movement, strap tension, sweat, tattoos and temperature can affect optical readings; blood oxygen is especially sensitive to movement and sensor contact. Look at trends and workout usefulness rather than treating an isolated reading as definitive. For positioning, it supports GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS, as well as a compass and barometer. That is useful for recording routes and outdoor workouts, but the watch lacks dual-band GNSS, according to Wareable. Time to satellite lock, route accuracy and elevation accuracy are separate questions: starting under a roof or among tall buildings, dense trees, permissions or software limitations can affect results. A watch with GPS is not automatically a navigation watch with comprehensive maps, route planning or expedition-grade reliability.
Compared with a dedicated Garmin outdoor watch, the Atlas offers a stronger general smartwatch app ecosystem but less emphasis on advanced training analytics, recovery metrics and navigation. It is a sensible companion for everyday exercise and occasional outdoor activity; serious trail users should evaluate the mapping and training features they actually need rather than assuming rugged styling supplies them.

The Atlas has a microphone, speaker, Bluetooth 5.2, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and NFC. Google Wallet setup is available from the watch: double-press the side button, complete the tutorial, tap Add Card and follow the phone prompts. Maps and other compatible apps are available through Wear OS. The watch does not have LTE, so it is not a cellular-independent replacement for a phone. Fall detection and emergency functions can be useful conveniences, but they are not a substitute for an emergency beacon or a guaranteed rescue system. Mobvoi warns that fall detection may not catch every fall. Emergency features can depend on the phone or a suitable network connection, location and calling permissions, configured contacts, battery and correct regional emergency details. Confirm what is configured before relying on it outdoors, and carry appropriate safety equipment for remote trips. Mobvoi’s manual and emergency qualifications.
Setup and pairing
The Atlas is for Android phones running Android 8.0 or later, with Google Play Store; Mobvoi excludes Android Go devices. It does not work with iPhones. The manual’s pairing steps are:
- Install Mobvoi Health from Google Play and turn on the watch.
- Select a language on the watch.
- In Mobvoi Health, open Device → Add a new device, select the watch and follow the pairing prompts.
- Keep Bluetooth enabled and the phone close; a shared Wi-Fi connection can also help connectivity.
If you previously used an older Wear OS by Google or Mobvoi app, the manual advises uninstalling it before pairing. If setup fails, check that the phone is supported and has Play Store, toggle Bluetooth, keep both devices close and charged, and pair from Mobvoi Health rather than beginning in the phone’s Bluetooth menu. If necessary, use Mobvoi Health → Settings → Unpair and reset, then pair again. Menu labels can vary by app version. A reset may erase local watch data, and deleted exercise records may not be recoverable, so sync or preserve anything important first. Official setup and troubleshooting manual.
Should you buy the TicWatch Atlas?
The Atlas made a stronger case when its Wear OS platform was newer and future support seemed less uncertain. In 2026, its enduring strengths are clear: rugged construction, a large dual-display design, useful Google services and battery life that can stretch to several days in ordinary use. Its weaknesses are just as relevant: oversized fit, no LTE, mixed sensor reliability, no dual-band GPS, Wear OS 4 and no dependable major-update outlook.
