Ultrahuman Rare is a luxury smart-ring collection introduced at CES 2025. Its Desert Rose and Dune models use 18-karat gold, while Desert Snow uses pt950 platinum (95% platinum). The rings retain the company’s familiar health-tracking approach—PPG optical sensors and six-axis motion sensing—rather than introducing a wholly new sensing platform. Ultrahuman advertises up to six days of battery life and a water-resistance rating of up to 100 meters.
The important practical catch is availability: as of August 18, 2026, Ultrahuman’s U.S. checkout page says it cannot sell or ship Rare to U.S. addresses, even though a regional shop page displays a $1,799 price.
What Ultrahuman Rare is
Rare is a product collection, not merely another Ring AIR color. Ultrahuman introduced it in January 2025 as the Desert Collection, comprising three jewelry-led designs: Desert Rose, Dune and Desert Snow. Ultrahuman calls Rare the “world’s first luxury smart ring”; that is the company’s marketing description, not an independently established industry fact.

The proposition is straightforward: put a conventional health-tracking ring inside a substantially more jewelry-oriented object. The premium is therefore about materials, finishing, exclusivity and ownership services as much as it is about electronics.

Gold, platinum and handcrafted styling
- Desert Rose: 18-karat gold.
- Dune: 18-karat gold.
- Desert Snow: pt950 platinum, meaning 95% platinum.
Ultrahuman says its gold comes from LBMA-approved refineries and is hallmarked by the Bureau of Indian Standards. It also describes handcrafted surfaces shaped with jewelry-metalworking techniques and sculptural, nature-inspired textures.
Those claims do not establish that every part of the ring is solid gold or solid platinum. The available product information does not specify the precious-metal thickness, the underlying electronics housing or the total metal quantity. Buyers should treat Rare as a precious-metal-finished electronic product unless the order documentation gives more detailed construction information.
Health tracking: familiar hardware in a luxury shell
According to Ultrahuman and TechCrunch’s launch report, Rare uses photoplethysmography (PPG) and six-axis motion sensors. Those sensors support software-derived indicators including:

PPG and motion sensors are hardware components; the scores and trend views are algorithmic interpretations. Reporting a physiological signal is not the same as providing a medical diagnosis, and the available launch material does not establish medical-grade accuracy or regulatory clearance.
The evidence points to a platform broadly comparable to Ring AIR rather than a fundamentally new sensor suite. Rare’s technology upgrade is therefore less obvious than its jewelry upgrade. It may look and feel more exclusive, but more expensive metal does not automatically improve accuracy, battery life or app quality.
Battery, water resistance and fit
Ultrahuman advertises up to six days of battery life. That is a best-case manufacturer estimate, not an independent endurance result. Actual runtime can vary with ring size, feature use, firmware, temperature, connectivity and battery aging.

The company also claims water resistance up to 100 meters (328 feet) and says the ring is designed for swimming and exercise. A depth rating is not a promise of immunity from every water-related hazard. Hot tubs and saunas, chemicals, soap, high-pressure water, impacts and aging seals can all matter; follow the current care instructions.
Rare is made to order. Use the free sizing kit before confirming the ring size, especially because a loose fit can reduce sensor contact while an overly tight ring can become uncomfortable. Ultrahuman advertises one-time size protection, but that does not remove the inconvenience of a replacement or guarantee identical terms in every country.
Price and availability
National Jeweler reported launch pricing of approximately £1,500–£1,800 in January 2025. An Ultrahuman regional shop page has displayed $1,799, but that should not be treated as a universal or current U.S. retail price: taxes, currency, shipping, promotions and region can change the amount.

Most importantly, Ultrahuman’s U.S. buying page currently says the company is unable to sell or ship Rare to U.S. addresses. Ultrahuman’s product information identifies selected retail availability in London and Berlin, with other locations described as forthcoming. Check the checkout page for your country before making a buying decision.

The official product page lists the ring, charger, USB-C-to-USB-C cable, certificate of authenticity and a free sizing kit. Production is made to order, with dispatch timing following size selection. A regional page indicates a 30-day return option, but jewelry, made-to-order goods, international taxes and country-specific terms can create exceptions, so confirm the policy at checkout.

At those displayed prices, Rare costs roughly five times as much as Ring AIR before taxes and shipping. The difference buys precious materials, jewelry styling, made-to-order positioning and service entitlements—not proven five-times-better health insights.
Do not confuse Rare with Ring PRO
Ultrahuman announced Ring PRO in February 2026, later than Rare. Ring PRO’s advertised up-to-15-day battery, newer processor and charging features belong to that separate model. They should not be attached to Rare.
Who should consider Rare?
Rare makes the most sense for a buyer who wants a tracker that can pass as fine jewelry, values gold or platinum construction, already uses Ultrahuman’s ecosystem, or places a high value on priority service and bundled software. It is especially difficult to justify for someone whose only goal is the best health-tracking value.
It is also a poor fit if you need independently validated medical accuracy, the longest possible battery life, a simple low-cost replacement path, or a purchase that can definitely be shipped to the United States. Battery replacement economics, repairability, long-term scratch resistance and the exact precious-metal construction remain unverified in the available documentation.
Questions to answer before ordering
- Can Ultrahuman legally sell and ship this variant to your address?
- What taxes, duties and shipping charges apply?
- What exactly does replacement coverage include—defects, accidental damage, loss, theft or battery wear?
- Is battery replacement offered after normal degradation, and at what cost?
- What are the country-specific return and warranty rules for a made-to-order ring?
- Will the selected size remain comfortable across seasons, exercise and different fingers?
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Ultrahuman Rare is best understood as a luxury-material and ownership upgrade around a familiar smart-ring platform. Its gold or platinum construction and bundled services may justify the price for jewelry-first buyers, but the available evidence does not show a proportionally more capable health tracker. Confirm regional availability—particularly the current U.S. shipping restriction—and the battery, repair and warranty terms before paying the premium.
