Yes—but not in the way the headline suggests. Verizon has offered holiday bundles in which a qualifying phone, smartwatch and tablet were effectively covered by 36 months of promotional bill credits. The devices were not simply free with no conditions: customers needed an eligible phone trade-in for the cited 2024 promotion, qualifying phone service, new connected-device lines for the watch and tablet, and enough time on Verizon for all credits to be applied.
The specific holiday offer most closely matching this claim was Verizon’s 2024 promotion. Its device lineup and terms should not be treated as proof that the same deal is active in September 2026. Check Verizon’s current deals and the offer shown in your My Verizon account before ordering.
Which Verizon promotion does this refer to?
The headline most closely matches Verizon’s historical holiday promotion announced for 2024. Verizon presented three phone-watch-tablet combinations:

These models belong to that dated promotion, not necessarily to Verizon’s current offer. Verizon has since run other bundles with different devices and rules. For example, reporting on a 2025 Samsung bundle described a no-trade-in offer that instead required new eligible service lines. A 2026 Samsung promotion likewise had different qualifying-plan and connected-device requirements. Those offers should not be combined with the 2024 deal as though they were one continuous promotion.

What “free” means here
“Free” means the device payment is offset by monthly promotional credits. It does not mean that the customer pays nothing for the account, taxes, activation, or cellular service.
Under the cited 2024 terms, the phone could receive up to $1,000 in promotional credits over 36 months. Depending on the bundle, the watch and tablet could receive credits covering up to $499.99 or $549.99 each. The precise device prices and credit amounts were tied to that promotion.

How much service was required?
The historical 2024 terms listed a phone line on Unlimited Ultimate at a stated minimum of $90 per month with Auto Pay, plus taxes and fees. They also listed a minimum of $20 per month with Auto Pay for each eligible watch and tablet line.

Using those historical figures only:
- Phone service: $90 per month
- Watch line: $20 per month
- Tablet line: $20 per month
- Combined service: $130 per month before taxes, fees and discounts
- 36-month service illustration: $4,680 before taxes and fees
This is not necessarily the additional amount every customer would pay. An existing Verizon customer may already have a phone line, qualify for multi-line discounts, or choose a different current plan. Conversely, changing plans can remove an existing discount. The $90 and $20 figures are historical offer terms, not guaranteed September 2026 prices.
Who qualified?
The cited offer was marketed to both new and existing Verizon mobile customers, but “existing customer” did not mean that every account automatically qualified. Depending on the transaction, customers needed to meet several conditions:
- Add a new phone line or complete an eligible upgrade.
- Use a qualifying phone plan.
- For an upgrade, have the existing phone active on the account for at least 60 days before trade-in.
- Trade in an eligible smartphone from Apple, Google or Samsung for the relevant 2024 bundles.
- Add new eligible service lines for the watch and tablet.
- Keep the qualifying lines and plan active during the 36-month credit period.
The current offer may require a port-in, a new line, a particular plan or no trade-in at all. Sign in to My Verizon and inspect the eligibility displayed for your specific line rather than relying on the public headline.

Does every Verizon bundle require a trade-in?
No. The 2024 holiday bundles described above required a qualifying trade-in for the phone promotion. Later Verizon bundles used different structures. Android Central reported that a Samsung Black Friday bundle in 2025 did not require a trade-in, although it did require new eligible service lines. A later 2026 Samsung bundle also used different qualifying-plan and line requirements.

That distinction matters: “Verizon offers a free phone, watch and tablet with a trade” is not a universal description of every Verizon promotion. Confirm whether the live offer requires a trade-in, a port-in, new lines, or a plan change.
What phones qualify for trade-in?
For the cited 2024 promotion, Verizon specified smartphones from Apple, Google or Samsung for the relevant bundles. The exact models, condition requirements and promotional value were offer-specific.
Verizon’s general trade-in program accepts a broader range of categories, including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, basic phones, mobile hotspots, netbooks and certain prepaid phones. General trade-in acceptance does not guarantee eligibility for a maximum promotional credit.
Keep these three concepts separate:
- General eligibility: Verizon will accept the device category.
- Promotion eligibility: The device meets the live offer’s brand, model and condition rules.
- Maximum value: The device qualifies for the highest advertised credit under the required plan and transaction.
How to complete the trade-in safely
Verizon’s general process is to identify the device and its condition, back up and erase your data, and mail the device within the stated deadline. Verizon says the credit is applied after the trade-in is received; its general guidance says to send the device within 30 days, but the live promotion’s deadline controls.

- Save screenshots of the offer, trade-in estimate and promotion terms.
- Record the phone’s IMEI and photograph its condition from several angles.
- Back up your data and perform a factory reset.
- Turn off Apple Find My or Android activation protection and remove any account lock.
- Package the device carefully and keep the shipping receipt and tracking number.
- Confirm that Verizon received and evaluated it.
Do not send the old phone until you have documented the new order and trade-in submission. Verizon says completed trade-ins are final after the device is sent and the credit is accepted, so the old device may not be recoverable.

The credits are conditional. They can stop if you no longer satisfy the promotion’s requirements, and the remaining device-payment balance may become due under the financing agreement.
Potential credit-disrupting events include:
- Canceling the phone, watch or tablet line.
- Leaving Verizon.
- Upgrading early.
- Changing to a plan that is not eligible.
- Returning or replacing a device under different terms.
- Missing the trade-in deadline.
- Sending the wrong model or a device that does not meet the submitted condition.
- Separating lines or restructuring the account.
Before canceling or changing plans, compare the remaining promotional credits with the savings from the cheaper plan. A lower monthly bill can be outweighed by the device balance that becomes payable when credits stop.

Is the bundle a good deal?
It may fit if you:
- Already expect to stay with Verizon for at least 36 months.
- Need a new phone and genuinely want cellular service on both companion devices.
- Have an old phone with limited private-sale value.
- Would choose a similar plan even without the promotion.
- Can use the watch and tablet away from your phone’s Wi-Fi connection.
It may be a poor fit if you:
- Only want the phone.
- Would use the watch as Bluetooth-only or the tablet as Wi-Fi-only.
- May switch carriers or change plans before 36 months.
- Must move to a substantially more expensive plan.
- Could sell the old phone privately for significantly more than its Verizon trade-in value.
- Prefer owning unlocked devices without carrier financing.
How to compare it with buying unlocked
Do not compare the retail price of three devices with a supposed $0 hardware price. Compare the full three-year cost:

Incremental service charges + plan-upgrade cost + taxes and fees + optional extras + opportunity cost of the trade-in − promotional credits.
Then compare that result with buying an unlocked phone, using a Wi-Fi-only tablet or Bluetooth watch, and keeping your current mobile plan. An unlocked purchase may cost more upfront but can be better for someone who wants to change carriers, sell the device, or upgrade before the 36-month period ends. Manufacturer options include Apple, Samsung and Google.

Before accepting any Verizon phone, watch and tablet promotion, confirm all of the following in the live cart and offer terms:

- Whether a trade-in is required.
- The eligible trade-in brands, models and condition.
- The trade-in submission deadline.
- Whether the transaction is a new line, upgrade, port-in or combination.
- The required phone plan and current monthly price.
- The monthly price for each watch and tablet line.
- The credit amount and 36-month duration.
- Auto Pay, tax, activation and upgrade requirements.
- What happens to credits and the remaining device balance if you cancel, upgrade or change plans.
Only after those details match your expected usage should you submit payment or ship the old phone.
