The vivo WATCH 5 is no longer an upcoming smartwatch. vivo launched it in China on April 21, 2025; the Bluetooth models went on sale April 29, followed by eSIM models on July 2. Its headline upgrade is endurance: vivo claims up to 22 days in a controlled Bluetooth-use scenario. The more realistic published Bluetooth-use figure is 11 days, while eSIM use is rated for up to 14 days in same-number mode or 7 days with a standalone number.
The watch combines a lightweight aluminum case option, a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, BlueOS 2.0, running-form analysis and several health-monitoring tools. However, availability, cellular service and some software features are strongly tied to China, compatible phones, carrier policies and app versions.

How much better is the battery?
On paper, the WATCH 5 improves on the WATCH 3’s advertised 16-day maximum Bluetooth endurance with a claimed maximum of 22 days. That is six additional days, or 37.5% more than the earlier advertised figure. It is best understood as a comparison of vivo’s published modes, not as an independently measured or standardized test result.
| Mode | vivo’s published endurance | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth, longest-use scenario | Up to 22 days | Controlled default settings and light usage |
| Regular Bluetooth use | Up to 11 days | The more useful expectation for typical ownership |
| Same-number eSIM | Up to 14 days | Published maximum under vivo’s specified conditions |
| Standalone-number eSIM | Up to 7 days | Cellular operation without relying on a paired phone |
For the 22-day estimate, vivo specifies smart heart-rate monitoring, sleep monitoring without high-precision sleep mode, 100 notifications per day, six calls, two alarms, 180 wrist-raise activations, 15 minutes of Bluetooth calls and music per week, and 60 minutes of GPS exercise per week.
That explains why the regular-use estimate is half as long. GPS-heavy running, an always-on display, frequent calls, music playback, LTE or eSIM use, continuous blood-oxygen monitoring and high-precision sleep tracking can all reduce battery life. The watch has a 505 mAh typical-capacity battery, with a stated minimum capacity of 480 mAh. vivo quotes a theoretical two-hour full charge at 25°C using its wired magnetic charger.

In practical terms, the WATCH 5’s strongest battery argument is not that every owner will achieve 22 days. It is that even the regular Bluetooth estimate could mean substantially less charging than many app-focused smartwatches.
Heart and health tracking: useful screening, not diagnosis
The WATCH 5 includes an optical heart-rate and blood-oxygen sensor, plus all-day heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen tracking, sleep monitoring and stress tracking. vivo also promotes arrhythmia analysis, heart-health research functions and a rapid blood-pressure-risk assessment.
The blood-pressure feature requires calibration against a conventional blood-pressure monitor. Launch coverage describes a three-calibration process before continuous monitoring. The resulting feature should be treated as a wellness or risk-screening tool for trends and possible warning signs—not as a clinical blood-pressure reading.
The watch can flag possible blood-pressure or rhythm-related risks under vivo’s supported measurement and calibration process; it is not a substitute for a validated blood-pressure monitor or professional diagnosis.

Do not buy the WATCH 5 as a replacement for a cuff, clinician or medically validated diagnostic device. If the watch produces a concerning result, repeat the measurement with appropriate medical equipment and seek professional advice. Health functions can also vary with the phone, software version, market and availability of vivo research programs.
Further details appear on vivo’s product page and in its feature explanation.
What the AI running coach actually does
vivo calls the feature professional AI running guidance. It is more substantial than a basic stopwatch: the training flow can cover warm-up, running and cooldown, while the watch analyzes running form and efficiency.

- Running power
- Ground-contact time
- Flight time
- Vertical oscillation
- Running efficiency
- Running-form analysis
There are important restrictions. vivo identifies running power as an eSIM-version-only feature, and running-efficiency analysis requires Android compatibility. Other functions require particular watch and vivo Health app versions. Current product notes list examples such as watch version V1.21.3 or later for some features, V1.26.25 or later for later running-efficiency functions, and specific vivo Health versions for Android and iOS support.

That makes the WATCH 5 potentially useful for recreational runners who want form and efficiency feedback, but it does not make it equivalent to a full Garmin training plan, a sports-science assessment or a professional coach. Serious athletes should verify the exact metrics, sensors, export options and training tools available in their region before buying.

Best Value
- The new Google Pixel Watch 5 offers a smarter way to a healthier you.[1,2]; Designed for Gemini Intelligence, get proactive help, and personalized insights from Google Health[3,4]; watch is compatible with Android devices only; not compatible with iOS devices
- Precision-crafted to do it all: The Google Pixel Watch 5 features the domed Actua 360 display with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and up to 40 hours of battery life[1,5]
- Metrics that matter: Advanced sensors help you stay ahead of your health and wellness; and Google Pixel’s most accurate heart rate tracking is fine-tuned for your activity[6,7]
- Understand your sleep like never before: Your watch captures insights like the time spent in sleep stages to breathing regularity, then summarizes it all in a personalized Sleep Score[8,9]
- Detects loss of pulse, then calls for help: Pixel Watch 5 is the only smartwatch to feature Loss of Pulse Detection, which can prompt a call to emergency services[10]
The trade-off is important: buyers who prioritize multi-week endurance and everyday notifications may prefer BlueOS, while buyers who need Google services, Apple integration, a large third-party app library or mature international payment support may be better served by watchOS or Wear OS.
Android, iPhone and eSIM compatibility
vivo supports connections with Android and iOS in certain configurations, but “works with iPhone” does not mean feature parity. Advanced health, running, calling, payment and ecosystem functions can vary by operating system, phone model, app version and region.
The eSIM version is also not a universal cellular smartwatch. Its same-number and standalone-number modes depend on Chinese carrier policies and compatible plans. International buyers should verify all of the following before importing one:
- Whether the exact WATCH 5 model is sold or supported in the country.
- Whether the carrier supports that watch model and its eSIM service.
- Whether same-number multi-device service or standalone-number service is available.
- Whether the vivo Health app supports the phone, language and region.
- Whether local payments, transport cards, maps and emergency functions work.
- What warranty, repair and software-update support applies to an imported unit.
Chinese pricing and an imported listing do not establish official US availability. Buyers outside China should confirm regional support directly rather than assume that Bluetooth pairing, NFC or cellular service will behave like the Chinese version.
Which WATCH 5 should you choose?
| Buyer | Best interpretation |
|---|---|
| Vivo phone owner in a supported Chinese-market setup | The strongest fit, especially if battery life and ecosystem features matter more than app variety. |
| iPhone user | Potentially compatible, but verify iOS feature support and do not expect Apple Watch-level integration. |
| Recreational runner | Worth considering for running-form and efficiency metrics, provided the required model and software are supported. |
| Serious runner | Compare it with Garmin and verify training-load, route, sensor and data-export requirements first. |
| Health-monitoring buyer | Suitable only for wellness tracking and risk awareness, not medical diagnosis. |
| eSIM buyer | Choose it only after confirming the carrier, plan, region and desired operating mode. |
| Battery-life-focused buyer | The WATCH 5 is compelling on paper, but plan around the 11-day regular Bluetooth estimate rather than 22 days. |
vivo WATCH 5: who should buy it?
The WATCH 5 makes the most sense for Vivo owners who can use its supported Chinese services and want long endurance, sleep tracking, notifications, calls and fitness tools in a relatively light case. It is also interesting for recreational runners who value form and efficiency feedback without charging every day.
It is a weaker choice for US buyers seeking straightforward official availability, for users who require a broad global smartwatch app ecosystem, and for anyone expecting medically validated blood-pressure or arrhythmia diagnosis. Buyers who prioritize structured running analytics should also compare Garmin’s running-focused ecosystem; iPhone users should consider the Apple Watch platform; and Android users who value apps and Google services may prefer Wear OS options.
The core proposition is clear: the vivo WATCH 5 trades some global ecosystem breadth for excellent claimed endurance, lightweight hardware and a broad set of wellness and everyday features. Whether that is a good trade depends less on the 22-day headline than on your phone, country, carrier and need for third-party apps.
