WHOOP One is the least expensive way to get WHOOP’s core sleep, strain, recovery, and coaching experience in the United States. The $199 annual package includes a WHOOP 5.0, band, charger, and 12 months of membership. It is a strong fit for people who will act on recovery guidance and prefer a screenless wearable; it is a weaker value if you want smartwatch features, medical monitoring, or a tracker you can keep using without recurring fees.
Prices and offers below reflect US availability checked August 16–18, 2026. Taxes, promotions, renewal paths, account status, and country can change the amount shown at checkout.
What WHOOP One actually is
WHOOP One is not a $199 tracker with optional premium software. It is a hardware-and-service package: WHOOP supplies the 5.0 sensor, and the annual membership provides the app, analytics, coaching, feature updates, support, and membership-linked warranty.
Recommended Free Tools
The WHOOP 5.0 is screenless. You read trends and recommendations in the WHOOP app rather than on your wrist, so there are no notifications, maps, calls, payments, or live workout metrics on the band itself. That simplicity helps continuous wear, but it is a poor substitute for a running watch or smartwatch.
#1 Best Overall
- What You Get - A 12-month membership, WHOOP 5.0 device, a SuperKnit band, and a waterproof* Wireless PowerPack. Choose from a range of band and accessory combinations, and add a waterproof Wireless PowerPack for on-the-go charging.
- HSA/FSA Eligible - All 12-month WHOOP memberships and battery packs qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement.
- Screenless, Distraction-Free - No screen, no buzzing notifications. WHOOP focuses entirely on your health and performance, with up to 14+ day battery life so you can wear it around the clock.
- Healthspan with Pace of Aging - Understand how your daily habits shape long-term health. Healthspan measures your WHOOP Age and Pace of Aging so you can take science-backed action to slow biological aging and extend your prime years.
- 24/7 Health Insights - WHOOP monitors your heart rate every second of every day, delivering personalized Sleep, Strain, Recovery, VO2 max, Menstrual Cycle, and Heart Rate insights along with a Real-time Stress Monitor that pinpoints your stressors and shows how your body responds in the moment, so you can make better decisions about training, rest, and daily performance.
WHOOP describes the device as supporting more than 14 days of battery life. That is an advertised figure, not a guarantee; workout frequency, temperature, battery age, charging habits, firmware, and sensor use affect real-world results.
WHOOP also supports wearing the sensor away from the wrist with compatible accessories. Independent coverage has discussed bicep and sports-bra use, but verify which locations and accessories WHOOP currently supports rather than treating every workaround as officially approved.

What the app does with your data
Sleep and sleep need
WHOOP says it analyzes all four sleep stages, estimates how much sleep you need, and provides guidance such as a recommended bedtime. The useful distinction is between sleep duration (time asleep), sleep stages (estimated portions of sleep), sleep need (the amount WHOOP calculates you require), sleep performance (how much of that need you met), and consistency (how regularly your schedule aligns).
Rank #2
- What You Get - A 12-month membership, WHOOP MG device, a SuperKnit Luxe band, and a waterproof* Wireless PowerPack.
- Heart Screener with On-Demand ECG - Take an ECG reading from your wrist in seconds to check for signs of atrial fibrillation. Heart Screener gives you a medical-grade view of your heart rhythm whenever you need it.
These are wearable estimates, not clinical measurements. WHOOP’s “lab-level” or similar accuracy language is marketing positioning unless independently validated for the specific claim. Use several nights of trends rather than treating one unusual stage reading as fact.
Strain and training load
WHOOP’s strain score is a proprietary framework for cardiovascular and muscular load. It is most useful as a consistent internal scale: compare your own training days, sleep, and responses over time, then see whether the recommended exertion target changes what you do. It is not a universal physiological unit or a medical measurement.
Recovery guidance
WHOOP says recovery reflects how your body responds to training, poor sleep, illness, stress, travel, and the menstrual cycle. A daily indication can help you choose a hard session, an easier workout, or rest. Treat it as decision support, not permission to ignore pain, fever, unusual symptoms, or medical advice.
Trends and behavior change
The membership is easiest to justify when you use the feedback loop: wear the sensor consistently, review relationships between sleep and training, and adjust behavior. A score collected but never acted upon has little value regardless of its technical sophistication.

|---|---|---|
| WHOOP One | $199 | WHOOP 5.0 |
| WHOOP Peak | $239 | WHOOP 5.0 |
| WHOOP Life | $359 | WHOOP MG |

A three-year One commitment totals $597 before tax, assuming the price does not change and no promotion applies.

How the free trial works
WHOOP currently advertises one month of Peak with a certified pre-owned WHOOP 5.0. That is not the same as a free new One package. Before starting, confirm whether the device is new or certified pre-owned, when the trial starts, which plan renews, the renewal date, shipping charges, return instructions, and cancellation deadline.

Changing tiers
WHOOP says you can upgrade from One to Peak or Life at any time with a prorated charge. The change may include a replacement 5.0 or MG device; an upgrade is not necessarily a software switch. You generally do not need to return the current device. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and a higher-tier device can continue on a lower tier subject to that plan’s limitations.
When you stop paying
WHOOP is subscription-centered. Continued app access and features depend on an active membership, but the exact post-cancellation behavior should be checked in the current account terms rather than assumed. Export or preserve information you may need before cancelling, and review renewal terms before the next charge.
Warranty conditions
The lifetime warranty is subject to WHOOP’s terms, direct-purchase conditions, and an active membership. It should not be treated as unconditional coverage for every third-party purchase.

Who should buy WHOOP One?
It makes sense if you:
- Train regularly and will use recovery-informed recommendations.
- Care more about sleep and training trends than notifications or live pace.
- Want a screenless, continuously worn band with long advertised battery life.
- Accept an annual subscription as the cost of the coaching ecosystem.
Choose something else if you:
- Want to own a tracker without indefinite payments.
- Need GPS, maps, music, calls, payments, or on-device workout data.
- Already have an Apple Watch or Garmin that covers your needs.
- Primarily want basic steps, sleep, or heart-rate tracking.
- Need medical monitoring or a diagnostic device.
Practical checks before ordering
- Confirm the live US price, taxes, shipping, band color, charger, and whether the offer is One or a Peak trial.
- Record the renewal date and the plan that will renew.
- Check whether trial hardware is certified pre-owned and read return instructions.
- Decide whether the screenless design fits your workouts.
- Review WHOOP’s current cancellation, warranty, and post-membership terms in your account.
- During use, keep the band fitted correctly, update the app and firmware, and judge trends across multiple days rather than one anomalous reading.
Safety and medical limits
WHOOP One is a wellness and performance product. Do not change medication, diagnose illness, or override symptoms based on a recovery or strain score. Life-tier ECG, rhythm, and blood-pressure-related features have specific eligibility and regulatory limitations and do not turn WHOOP into a general-purpose medical monitor.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is WHOOP One worth $199 a year?
It can be, if you consistently use sleep, recovery, and strain coaching and accept recurring membership costs. It is poor value for casual tracking or buyers who need a screen and smartwatch functions.
Does WHOOP One include ECG or blood-pressure features?
No. Those are associated with MG hardware and Life-tier features where supported; One includes the 5.0 and core wellness coaching.
Is the free WHOOP trial a One trial?
WHOOP currently describes it as one month of Peak with a certified pre-owned WHOOP 5.0, so confirm the renewal plan and date before starting.
The Bottom Line
Buy WHOOP One when you want the lowest-cost entry to WHOOP’s screenless sleep, recovery, strain, and coaching system and will use it consistently. Choose Peak for genuine interest in Healthspan and stress tools, Life only for a specific MG-enabled feature need, and a subscription-free Garmin, Fitbit, or other wearable when long-term ownership matters more than WHOOP’s coaching ecosystem.
