Windows may not detect your Amazfit because many Amazfit watches are designed to pair and sync through the Zepp mobile app, not directly with a Windows PC. Before changing drivers or buying a Bluetooth dongle, identify whether the problem is Windows Bluetooth, USB/File Explorer, or the phone-to-watch connection. Direct PC support and USB storage access vary by model.
Use the troubleshooting path below that matches what you are seeing.
First, identify which connection is failing

Does your Amazfit support direct Windows pairing?
Do not assume that an Amazfit watch behaves like headphones or a keyboard. Many models use Bluetooth Low Energy for communication with Zepp on a phone. A Bluetooth scanner might see a signal, but that does not mean Windows can use the watch as a conventional paired accessory.
For example, Amazfit’s Balance manual directs users to Zepp and warns against pairing the watch directly through ordinary phone Bluetooth settings. This is model-specific guidance, not proof that every Amazfit product has identical behavior.

Some watches may expose a separate Bluetooth function for calls or audio. That still does not guarantee that health-data synchronization, firmware updates, notifications, or file transfers work directly through Windows.
Check the exact model’s manual first. If it documents only Zepp mobile pairing, Windows will not detect it as a usable PC accessory—and continued Windows Bluetooth troubleshooting will not create an unsupported connection.
The correct setup: pair through Zepp
- Charge and turn on the watch.
- Install or update the Zepp app on an Android phone or iPhone, then sign in.
- In Zepp, open Profile, choose My Devices, and select Add device—the exact labels can vary by app version and model.
- Scan the watch’s QR code or select the model when prompted.
- Allow the Bluetooth, nearby-device, location, and notification permissions requested by the phone’s operating system.
- Complete pairing inside Zepp rather than starting from the phone’s ordinary Bluetooth menu.
- Keep the phone and watch close together until activation and synchronization finish.
A successful setup should produce a pairing confirmation in Zepp. It does not require the watch to appear as a normal Windows Bluetooth accessory.

Fix Windows Bluetooth detection
1. Confirm that Bluetooth hardware is available
On Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices and make sure Bluetooth is enabled. Turn off Airplane mode. If Bluetooth is missing entirely, check whether the PC has built-in Bluetooth or a working USB adapter.
On Windows 10, open Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, so it should not be treated as receiving current free security or technical support from Microsoft.
Open Device Manager from the Start menu and look for a Bluetooth adapter. A missing adapter, warning icon, or unknown device points to the PC or its driver—not necessarily the watch.

2. Run Microsoft’s Bluetooth troubleshooter
In Windows 11, open the Get Help app and run its automated Bluetooth troubleshooter. It may identify a disabled adapter, configuration issue, or driver problem. If it reports that Bluetooth hardware is absent, install the computer manufacturer’s official driver or use a compatible adapter only if your Amazfit model supports Windows pairing.
3. Put the watch into its actual pairing state
Make sure the watch is turned on, charged, close to the PC, and in the model-specific pairing or discoverable state. Restart the watch and retry. A watch already linked to another phone or host may need to be disconnected there first.
Low battery, distance, and an incorrect pairing state are common causes of Bluetooth discovery failures. Microsoft’s Bluetooth reconnection guidance covers these conditions.
4. Set Windows 11 discovery to Advanced
- Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
- Find Device settings.
- Set Bluetooth devices discovery to Advanced.
- Try adding the watch again—but only if the model supports direct Windows pairing.
Windows’ default discovery setting may show only common Bluetooth devices. Advanced discovery displays more device types; it does not overcome an unsupported Amazfit profile.
5. Remove stale entries
- Open Windows Bluetooth settings.
- Select the old Amazfit entry and choose Remove device.
- Turn Bluetooth off, wait about 10 seconds, and turn it on again.
- Restart the PC.
- Put the watch into pairing mode and try again.
If the model is mobile-only, stop here and use Zepp instead of repeatedly attempting Windows pairing.
6. Update the Bluetooth driver
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth.
- Right-click the Bluetooth radio or adapter.
- Select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows.
If Windows finds no newer driver, download the driver only from the PC manufacturer’s official support page. Avoid random driver-download sites.
7. Reduce interference
Move the watch closer to the PC and temporarily move unshielded USB 3.0 devices away from the Bluetooth adapter. On a desktop, try a rear motherboard USB port. If you use a USB Bluetooth adapter, a short USB extension cable can move it away from a busy USB 3.0 port; this is a practical interference workaround, not an Amazfit-specific requirement.

Fix Amazfit USB detection
1. Confirm that USB data access is expected
Charging over USB does not prove that the watch supports Windows file access. Some older models document MTP or internal-storage access, while many newer models rely on Zepp for their supported operations.
The Amazfit Smartwatch manual documents connecting its charging dock to a computer and opening internal storage. Do not generalize that behavior to Balance, Bip 6, T-Rex 3, Active 2, or every other Amazfit model without checking the relevant manual.
2. Use the supplied dock and a data-capable cable
A charge-only cable can power the watch while carrying no data. Use the supplied dock where possible. If you need a replacement, choose the exact model’s official accessory or a confirmed USB data cable, not a charging-only cable. Amazfit’s computer-connection guidance specifically calls out this distinction.
3. Clean and reseat the contacts
- Disconnect the watch.
- Inspect the watch contacts and dock pins.
- Remove dust, residue, or corrosion carefully.
- Reconnect the dock firmly.
- Ensure the watch has sufficient charge.
A watch can charge successfully even when dirty or failed data contacts prevent enumeration.
4. Test the USB path directly
Try a different USB port, preferably a direct port rather than a hub, monitor, keyboard, extension, or docking station. On a desktop, try a rear port. Test another known-good data cable and, if possible, another computer. Amazfit recommends avoiding hubs and changing the port or computer when the device is not recognized.

- Open Device Manager.
- Check Portable Devices, Universal Serial Bus controllers, and Other devices.
- Look for an MTP device, unknown device, or warning icon.
- Disconnect and reconnect the watch while Device Manager is open.
- Note whether an entry appears or disappears.
If Windows reacts but File Explorer shows no drive, the watch may expose MTP without a drive letter, or its model may not provide general-purpose storage. Use the exact model’s documented transfer method.
Prefer Windows Update, the PC manufacturer, or Amazfit support for drivers. Do not install an unspecified third-party “mobile assistant” or driver package.

If the phone cannot find the watch in Zepp
This is a phone-to-watch pairing problem, not a Windows detection problem. Use this sequence:
- Open Zepp and confirm phone Bluetooth is enabled.
- Charge the watch and place it nearby.
- Check Zepp’s required Bluetooth, nearby-device, location, and notification permissions.
- If the model-specific instructions require it, remove or ignore an old phone Bluetooth entry.
- Restart phone Bluetooth and restart the phone.
- Retry pairing from Zepp’s device-add screen.
Amazfit’s Bip 6 guidance, T-Rex 3 guidance, and mobile-device FAQ emphasize these same model-dependent checks.
Use a factory reset only as a last resort, after checking that important data is synchronized and understanding that local unsynced data or settings may be lost.
When to stop troubleshooting
If the model’s manual provides no Windows Bluetooth or USB data path, the likely resolution is simply to use Zepp on a phone. A Bluetooth dongle is useful only when the PC lacks working Bluetooth and the watch supports the required Windows profile.
Escalate to Amazfit support when the watch also fails to pair with Zepp on multiple compatible phones, or when a model documented as USB-capable still fails with a known-good dock, data cable, direct USB port, and another computer. Those tests provide stronger evidence of a watch, dock, or contact fault than Windows Bluetooth failure alone.

Can Amazfit watches connect directly to Windows?
Some model-specific Bluetooth or USB functions may be supported, but many Amazfit watches are intended to pair and synchronize through Zepp on Android or iPhone. Check the exact model manual before attempting direct Windows pairing.

Charging needs power contacts, while data transfer needs working data contacts and a data-capable cable. The model may also support charging only rather than USB file access.

Do I need a Bluetooth dongle?
Only if the PC lacks working Bluetooth and the Amazfit model supports direct Windows pairing. A dongle will not make a mobile-only Zepp device compatible with Windows.
Can I sync Amazfit data without a phone?
The supplied evidence supports Zepp on a mobile device as the normal synchronization route. Do not assume that Windows alone can replace that workflow; check your model’s current official documentation.
Why does the watch appear as an unknown MTP device?
Windows is detecting a USB device but cannot use it correctly. Check the model’s USB support, dock contacts, data cable, direct USB port, and Device Manager drivers.
Will factory resetting fix detection?
It may clear a pairing state, but it is not a first-line fix and can erase local unsynced data or settings. Try Zepp permissions, Bluetooth restarts, cable and port checks, and model-specific instructions first.
Is Zepp available as a Windows desktop app?
The supplied evidence does not verify a current official Windows desktop Zepp client. Treat Zepp mobile pairing as the supported general path unless Amazfit documents otherwise for your model.
Can I use a USB-C cable instead of the supplied dock?
