Xiaomi’s MWC 2026 announcements ranged from a new Wear OS smartwatch to earbuds, a Bluetooth tracker, tablets, phones and an electric scooter. The headline for watch shoppers is the Xiaomi Watch 5: an international launch of Xiaomi’s Wear OS 6 watch, with Gemini, gesture controls and a manufacturer-claimed battery life of up to six days in smart mode. The products were unveiled in Barcelona on February 28; the prices below are reported UK or euro launch prices, not current offers or universal regional pricing.
The Xiaomi MWC 2026 lineup at a glance
Xiaomi’s event was a global rollout for several products, not necessarily their first announcement anywhere. In particular, coverage reported that the Watch 5 had appeared in China before its international MWC launch. Xiaomi Watch 5: the main event for watch buyers
The Watch 5 is notable because it uses Google’s full Wear OS platform rather than a more limited proprietary smartwatch system. Xiaomi says it runs Wear OS 6 and includes Google Gemini; Wear OS brings access to Google services including Wallet and Maps, while Xiaomi also pitches HyperConnect features for its connected-device ecosystem. Gemini functions may depend on country, language, account, connectivity and software version.

The standout claim is endurance: Xiaomi advertises up to six days in smart mode and up to 18 days in power-saving mode. Those are manufacturer figures for different operating modes, not like-for-like independent battery-test results. Features enabled, display use, connectivity and workout tracking can affect actual runtime. At MWC, Wareable reported it had not had hands-on time with a Watch 5 at the show, so the launch coverage does not establish real-world battery performance or gesture reliability.
Watch 5 specifications reported at launch
- 47 mm stainless-steel case, measuring 47 × 47 × 12.3 mm; about 56 g without the strap.
- 1.54-inch AMOLED display, 480 × 480 resolution, up to 1,500 nits peak brightness and 2.6 mm bezels.
- Sapphire glass on both sides, according to Xiaomi material and launch coverage.
- 930 mAh battery; Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform with BES2800 low-power co-processor.
- EMG, PPG and inertial-measurement sensors; Bluetooth 5.4 and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
- 5 ATM water resistance.
These are launch specifications, not independent measurements. Android Authority’s Watch 5 launch report also lists dual-band, five-band GNSS; check the regional specification sheet for the exact supported satellite systems and bands before relying on that detail. Do not assume that China-market eSIM configurations or features are included in every international version.
EMG gestures: hands-free controls, with practical caveats
The Watch 5 uses electromyography (EMG), alongside other sensors, for gesture controls. Launch coverage describes pinching twice to hang up a call and rubbing twice to dismiss an alarm. Other reported customizable actions include snapping fingers, shaking or rotating the wrist, and can be assigned to functions such as launching Gemini, opening the camera or starting YouTube Music.

That could be useful when touching the screen is awkward, but it is not a substitute for testing the controls in daily use. Fit, wrist position, movement, software version and the user’s ability to perform a gesture consistently may all affect recognition. Treat the listed gestures as reported features, not a guarantee that every gesture or action will work in every region or situation.
Health and fitness features
Xiaomi’s launch material and reporting list heart-rate, blood-oxygen, stress and sleep tracking, ECG analysis, more than 150 sports modes and 3D animated workout guidance. Android Authority also reports VO₂ max and weekly training-load metrics, offline mapping and Health Connect synchronization through the Mi Fitness app.
These are wellness and fitness features, not a promise of diagnosis or treatment. ECG and other health functions may be subject to regional approval, software and model limitations; availability can vary by country. Anyone making a health decision should rely on appropriate medical advice rather than a watch reading.

At the reported £269.99 or €299.99 launch price, the Watch 5’s appeal rests on the combination of full Wear OS, Xiaomi ecosystem integration and the unusually ambitious battery claim. It may suit Android users who want Google apps, multi-day use or onboard sports features. The 47 mm case could be large on smaller wrists, and buyers should check their local model, warranty, health-feature availability and Xiaomi’s software-update commitment before purchase.
Redmi Buds 8 Pro: inexpensive ANC earbuds
The Redmi Buds 8 Pro are the more accessible audio launch. Xiaomi advertises active noise cancellation (ANC) of up to 55 dB; the reported feature set also includes Dolby Audio, Hi-Res Audio support, five spatial-audio modes and twin 6.7 mm PZT ceramic tweeters. Launch coverage quotes around eight hours of playback per charge and lists Obsidian Black, Cloud White and Glacier Blue color options. The reported UK launch price is £64.99.
“Up to 55 dB” is a maximum claim, not a promise that every sound will be reduced by that amount. ANC performance varies with frequency, ear-tip seal, fit, wind and the character of the surrounding noise; voices and irregular sounds can remain audible. The eight-hour figure is per charge, not necessarily total listening time including the case. Independent tests would be needed to judge sound, microphone quality, comfort, transparency mode, codec support and multipoint behavior.

The Tag’s reported ability to work with both major tracking networks is potentially useful in a household split between iPhone and Android, but check platform-specific setup, privacy and anti-stalking behavior before choosing it over an established tracker. The power bank trades capacity for a thin profile; it is not the obvious choice if maximum capacity or fast wired charging matters more.

Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro
The Pad 8 is reported to pair an 11.2-inch, 3.2K, 144 Hz screen with a 9,200 mAh battery and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. The Pad 8 Pro keeps the reported 9,200 mAh capacity and upgrades to Snapdragon 8 Elite. A Pro Matte Glass version is said to reduce reflections by up to 44%, a Xiaomi claim rather than an independent measurement.

Reported UK configurations start at £399 for the Pad 8 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage; the 8 GB/256 GB version is £449. The Pad 8 Pro is listed at £529 for 8 GB/256 GB and £599 for 12 GB/512 GB. A keyboard or stylus can make a tablet more useful for work, but app support, file handling, accessory cost and whether those accessories are bundled vary. The specifications alone do not make either model a laptop replacement for every user.

Xiaomi 17 series and Leica Leitzphone
The reported international phone lineup includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. Coverage says the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max remain China-exclusive, so check the actual regional catalogue rather than assuming every model announced in China is sold globally. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is reported with a 200 MP, 4.2× periscope telephoto camera and a 6,000 mAh battery. The Leica Leitzphone is described as having a 1-inch main sensor and a rotating camera ring, alongside Leica-inspired design. Reported UK prices are £899 for Xiaomi 17, £1,299 for 17 Ultra and £1,699 for the Leitzphone.
Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 Ultra
The scooter was reported with 12-inch tyres and a claimed range of up to 75 km, at a UK launch price of £719.99. Range is a manufacturer figure; rider weight, terrain, speed, temperature and tyre pressure can change real-world distance. Product availability does not establish that riding it on public roads or sidewalks is legal where you live, so check local rules and warranty/service coverage.
What to consider before buying
- Watch 5: Consider it if you want Wear OS and Google services in a Xiaomi watch, but wait for independent evidence on battery, gesture consistency, GPS and sensor performance if those are decisive. Confirm case size, regional health features and software support.
- Redmi Buds 8 Pro: Worth comparing if your local price is near the reported UK launch price and ANC is a priority. Do not choose based on the 55 dB maximum alone; fit, calls and sound quality matter.
- Xiaomi Tag: Check which finding network and phone you will use, plus precision-finding support and privacy behavior on that platform.
- Magnetic power bank: Verify phone alignment and charging compatibility; the slim 5,000 mAh design prioritizes portability over capacity.
- Tablet, phone or scooter: Confirm the specific regional model, configuration, warranty and local accessory or legal requirements.
