The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro is a large-screen fitness band with smartwatch-style features, built-in GNSS, health tracking and a claimed battery life of up to 21 days. It looks closer to a compact smartwatch than a traditional narrow fitness tracker, but it does not offer the app ecosystem, cellular independence or full software platform of an Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or Wear OS device.
Xiaomi introduced it in China on 29 October 2024 and began its global rollout in November 2024. As a result, it should be assessed in 2026 as an older model whose value depends on local stock, discounting and the features offered by your regional edition.

Design and customisation
The Smart Band 9 Pro uses an aluminium-alloy frame and a rectangular, quadrilateral display. Xiaomi listed Rose Gold, Moonlight Silver and Obsidian Black frame finishes for the global model, giving it a more jewellery-like appearance than a basic fitness band.

Its quick-release strap system makes changing the look relatively straightforward. Xiaomi shows TPU and leather strap options, along with a selection of watch faces that can display different information such as activity data, weather or other complications. “Customisation” here primarily means watch faces, on-screen information and interchangeable straps—not the downloadable apps and deep software personalisation associated with a full smartwatch.
Colourways, strap materials, bundled accessories and replacement-strap availability vary by country. Some regional Xiaomi pages indicate that particular straps may be sold separately, so check the local product listing before assuming a specific combination is included.
Display: bright and unusually large for a band
The 1.74-inch AMOLED display is one of the Smart Band 9 Pro’s main attractions. Xiaomi claims narrow 2.2mm bezels, a 60Hz refresh rate and up to 1200 nits of high-brightness mode (HBM), with automatic brightness adjustment and 2.5D cover glass.
The large panel should make notifications, workout information and watch faces easier to read than on a conventional slim fitness band. The 60Hz figure also promises smoother scrolling, although Xiaomi notes that refresh rate can vary by interface.
The 1200-nit figure is a peak HBM specification, not a guarantee that the screen will sustain that brightness in every situation. Actual outdoor visibility will depend on the brightness mode, sunlight and the interface being used.
Health tracking and its limits
The band tracks heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, stress and women’s health metrics. Its sleep tools include sleep-stage information, schedule analysis and Xiaomi’s “sleep animal” presentation. Breathing training and high- and low-heart-rate alerts are also included.

Some advanced monitoring options need to be enabled manually. Xiaomi warns that loose wearing can affect heart-rate, blood-oxygen and sleep results, so the band should sit securely against clean, dry skin without being uncomfortably tight.

The Smart Band 9 Pro and Mi Fitness are not medical devices. SpO₂, heart-rate and other readings are intended for general wellness and personal reference, not diagnosis or treatment. If a reading concerns you, verify it with appropriate medical equipment and seek professional advice.
Sports tracking and built-in GPS
With more than 150 sports modes, the Smart Band 9 Pro covers common activities as well as a wide range of less frequent exercises. Xiaomi lists 15 professional sports modes and automatic recognition for six modes, although automatic recognition must be activated in the settings.
For runners, the band offers running-posture recognition and 10 built-in running courses with different intensities. Its independent GNSS means outdoor routes can be recorded without carrying a phone, using GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS.
Xiaomi claims positioning accuracy is improved by 33% compared with the Smart Band 8 Pro. That is a manufacturer comparison rather than independent validation, and real-world results can vary with buildings, trees, weather, satellite visibility and how the band is worn.
Swimming recognition and water-sport support are available, making the band suitable for general pool use. Serious athletes should not assume that the large mode count represents the same depth of training analysis offered by a specialist sports watch.

Battery life: 21 days is the best-case headline

The headline 21-day figure applies to Xiaomi’s restrained typical-use test. That test disables advanced sleep monitoring, sleep-breathing monitoring and all-day stress and blood-oxygen monitoring, while using heart-rate monitoring every 30 minutes.
The 8-day heavy-load result is more relevant if you enable intensive health monitoring, always-on display and frequent notifications. Always-on display alone moves Xiaomi’s claim to up to 10 days. GNSS workouts, high brightness, continuous SpO₂ checks and large notification volumes can reduce runtime further.
The band has a 350mAh battery. Treat all figures as “up to” claims under Xiaomi’s test conditions rather than as a guaranteed number of days between charges.

Smart features and phone compatibility
The Smart Band 9 Pro can control music and provide alarms, a calendar, weather, compass, timer, stopwatch, flashlight, events, tasks, world clock, focus functions and phone finding. Xiaomi also lists camera control on some phone models.
It works with Mi Fitness on Android 8.0-or-newer phones and iPhones running iOS 12.0 or later. However, not every feature works equally across devices. Events are listed as available only with Xiaomi or Redmi phones, while camera control is limited to selected models. Notifications and background-dependent controls may also stop working if the phone restricts Mi Fitness.
If notifications fail, check that Mi Fitness is allowed to run in the background and that the phone’s battery-management settings are not suspending it. Also confirm that the phone model supports the particular camera or event function.

This remains a band-class product. It does not replace a full smartwatch if you need cellular calling, a rich third-party app store, advanced interactive apps or complete phone independence.
NFC and payments are region-dependent
Launch coverage reported NFC support for the Chinese version, but that should not be treated as proof of universal NFC or payment support. Xiaomi’s global product page does not list NFC in its general feature table.
Before buying, check the product page for your country and confirm the exact edition, payment service and banking support. NFC availability can differ between Chinese and global models and may also depend on local services.
Water resistance: suitable for swimming, not diving
The band is rated 5ATM. Xiaomi describes this as corresponding to tested submersion at 50 metres under relevant ISO 22810-related conditions, but it is not “waterproof” in every use case.
It is intended for swimming pools and shallow-water activities. Do not use it for diving, saunas, hot showers or exposure to strong, fast-moving water. Water resistance can deteriorate with age, wear or physical damage.

The user manual recommends using the supplied charging cable. For a replacement, confirm compatibility with model M2402B1 rather than assuming that another Xiaomi band cable will fit.

Price, launch history and availability
Xiaomi launched the Smart Band 9 Pro in China from CNY399 in October 2024. Global launch coverage reported a price of approximately $79 and a UK price of around £62–£62.99 in November 2024.
Those are historical launch prices, not verified August 2026 retail prices. Regional Xiaomi buying pages may be indexed even when they show no usable current price or stock information. Check your local Xiaomi store for the live price, warranty, colour options, bundled strap and return terms.
Is the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro still worth buying in 2026?
It remains a sensible choice if you find it at a substantial discount and want a bright, large display, built-in positioning, broad activity tracking and long battery life. It is also a good fit for Android and iPhone users who want notifications and everyday utilities without charging a full smartwatch every night.

Its weaknesses are more important in 2026. The hardware launched in 2024, its battery claims depend heavily on conservative settings, and functions such as NFC, payments, events and camera control vary by region or phone model. Xiaomi’s claims about improved heart-rate and GNSS accuracy are internal comparisons, not independent test results.
Choose a full smartwatch instead if you need a mature app ecosystem, cellular independence, richer communications or guaranteed payment support. Choose a running-focused sports watch if detailed training analysis and independently established sports metrics matter more than slimness and price. A basic fitness band may be better if you do not need the large screen or independent GNSS.
Before purchasing, confirm five things: the current local price, the exact regional edition, NFC and payment support, what strap is in the box, and the warranty available in your country.
