The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro is a lightweight fitness band with a smartwatch-sized screen and built-in GPS, not a full smartwatch. Its 1.74-inch AMOLED display, phone-free route recording and long claimed battery life make it appealing for walks and casual runs. The trade-offs are limited smartwatch functions and uncertain local warranty: Brazilian listings found were third-party marketplace offers, not a verified official Xiaomi Brazil sale. Consider it if GPS and a bigger display matter more than apps, calls or payments—and check the seller and version before buying.
What the Smart Band 9 Pro is—and isn’t
The Smart Band 9 Pro sits between a conventional fitness tracker and an entry-level smartwatch. It tracks activities, sleep and selected health metrics, displays phone notifications and offers basic phone controls. Its defining upgrades over a smaller band are the larger, more watch-like screen and independent GNSS for outdoor routes.
It is not a full smartwatch: Xiaomi’s feature list does not indicate cellular service, wrist-based calling, contactless payments, onboard music storage or a general third-party app ecosystem. Music control means controlling playback on a connected phone, not leaving the phone behind to stream or play stored tracks. Xiaomi describes the band and Mi Fitness health features as non-medical; readings are for general reference, not diagnosis. Xiaomi’s product overview sets out the feature claims and limitations.

Design and comfort
The aluminum-alloy frame gives the Pro a more polished, watch-like appearance than a narrow capsule-style tracker. The body measures about 43.27 × 32.49 × 10.8 mm and weighs approximately 24.5 g without the strap. The TPU strap is specified for wrists measuring 135–205 mm. Those numbers keep it light, but the broad rectangular body can still look and feel large on a small wrist. Try to confirm the dimensions and strap details if fit is a concern.

The extra width has a practical upside: notifications, workout screens and other information have more room than on the standard Smart Band. Official regional colors include Obsidian Black, Rose Gold and Moonlight Silver, though selection depends on the market and seller. Xiaomi’s regional specifications list the dimensions, weight, fit range and materials.
Display: a real reason to choose the Pro
The 1.74-inch AMOLED touchscreen has a 336 × 480 resolution and Xiaomi-rated peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. Xiaomi also advertises a 60Hz refresh rate, while noting that refresh behavior can vary by interface. The larger screen should make glanceable information easier to read than on the standard band; the brightness figure is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of identical visibility in every outdoor condition.
It supports automatic brightness adjustment and an always-on display. AOD is convenient, but Xiaomi’s own battery estimates fall from up to 21 days in typical-use mode to up to 10 days with AOD. In practice, brightness, notifications and workout use also affect endurance. The display uses reinforced cover glass, but it is not immune to scratches or impact.
Built-in GPS: the Pro’s biggest practical upgrade
The band has independent GNSS, supporting GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS. That means it can record an outdoor route without a phone in your pocket—useful for a run or walk when you would rather travel light. This is the key reason to consider the Pro over the regular Smart Band 9, which is smaller and more band-like.

Phone-free route recording is not the same as complete independence. Pairing, synchronization and reviewing the workout still involve the phone and Mi Fitness; phone notifications also depend on the phone being connected. The available research confirms the GNSS feature but does not establish real-world lock time or route accuracy, so do not treat Xiaomi’s claim of a 33% positioning improvement over the Smart Band 8 Pro as an independently verified result. Tall buildings, trees and other conditions can affect satellite reception, as they do on wearables generally.
If reliable training metrics are central to your purchase, look for testing that reports route quality, distance, pace, lock time and battery use under comparable conditions. Xiaomi’s “150-plus sports modes” count is not a promise that every activity has equally detailed metrics. Walking, running and cycling are the clearest cases for onboard GPS; indoor workouts and strength training do not need satellite tracking.
Activity, health and sleep tracking
Xiaomi lists all-day heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen monitoring, sleep analysis, stress monitoring, menstrual-cycle tracking, breathing exercises, heart-rate alerts and swimming recognition. The band also includes running courses and selected automatic activity recognition. These can help you follow trends and remember workouts, but the measurements should not be mistaken for clinical findings.
Optical readings depend on a secure fit and can be affected by movement and other factors. Sleep stages and stress scores are estimates, not diagnoses. SpO₂ readings from the band are not a substitute for a medical pulse oximeter or professional assessment. Xiaomi says its updated heart-rate algorithm improves accuracy by 15% over the previous product; that is a company comparison, not independent validation. Battery and charging: read the claim as a best case
The 350mAh battery charges magnetically. Xiaomi estimates about 75 minutes for a full charge and claims up to 21 days in typical-use mode, up to 10 days with the always-on display, and up to eight days under heavy use. These are manufacturer estimates, not a promise that every owner will get those results.
Frequent GPS workouts, AOD, high brightness, continuous monitoring and a busy stream of notifications can all change battery life. The sensible expectation is fewer charging sessions than with many full smartwatches, not three weeks regardless of settings. If comparing battery reports, check whether they include GPS use and AOD rather than relying on a bare day-count.
Mi Fitness, phones and everyday functions
The band works with Mi Fitness on Android 8.0 or later and iOS 12 or later. The listed functions include notifications, alarms, weather, music controls, compass, timers, stopwatch, find-phone and selected camera controls. Some functions are restricted to Xiaomi or Redmi phones, and notification support should not be confused with full message replies or calling.

Confirm Portuguese-language support for the specific version and app configuration before buying, especially if a listing uses vague “global” wording. Water resistance: suitable for swimming, not every water setting
The 5ATM rating represents water resistance under laboratory conditions, not universal waterproofing. Xiaomi says the band is suitable for pool swimming and shallow-water activity, but not diving, saunas, hot showers or direct impact from fast-moving water. Water resistance can decline over time, so avoid treating the rating as permission for every aquatic activity.
Smart Band 9 Pro versus alternatives
- Smart Band 9: A smaller, more conventional band may be the better choice if you do not need the Pro’s larger display and independent GNSS.
- Smart Band 8 Pro: The predecessor may make sense at a discount. Xiaomi claims improvements in positioning, battery and haptics for the 9 Pro, but those claims do not by themselves establish a meaningful real-world advantage for every user.
- Huawei Watch Fit 3 or a Redmi Watch: Consider these if you prefer a more conventional watch presentation or want to compare smartwatch-oriented functions. Check the exact model and current local support rather than assuming features or prices are equivalent.
- A GPS fitness watch: More appropriate if structured training data and workout analysis matter more than light weight and a slim band shape.
Prices and availability for those alternatives vary, and the available evidence does not establish current comparable Brazilian prices. Compare what each model actually does for your workouts rather than choosing by feature count alone.

Brazilian marketplace listings were observed at roughly R$498–R$817, with examples varying by seller, color and payment method. These are volatile third-party listing snapshots, not an official Brazilian MSRP or a guarantee of today’s price. The listings found do not establish that Xiaomi sells the model directly in Brazil. Before ordering, check who actually sells and ships the unit, the exact model and regional version, Portuguese support, return terms, invoice and who handles warranty claims. Marketplace listings use inconsistent names and model references: one KaBuM listing identifies M2402B1 as a global version, while another uses BHR8714GL. Do not assume such codes or listings are interchangeable without confirmation from the seller. Also verify that the charger and strap match what is included; the regional specifications list the band, strap, magnetic charging cable and manual as package contents. Xiaomi Brazil support for an imported unit should not be assumed.

Useful listing references include one KaBuM global-version offer, another KaBuM listing and a Mercado Livre global Portuguese listing. Their presence is not an endorsement or confirmation of current stock, price or warranty.
Who should buy it?
Buy it if you want a readable, bright screen in a light band and will use GPS for phone-free walks or runs. It is also a reasonable fit if activity tracking, sleep trends, notifications and infrequent charging matter more than smartwatch extras, and you find a clearly identified global version from a seller with acceptable returns and warranty.
Think twice if you have a small wrist, need dependable local warranty, or expect the 21-day maximum while using AOD and GPS often. Skip it if you need payments, cellular service, calls, message replies, stored music, third-party apps, advanced training analysis or medical-grade readings. At a price close to a more capable smartwatch or fitness watch, its band-style feature set is harder to justify.
