The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro looks more polished than a basic fitness tracker and offers excellent endurance—but its 21-day battery figure is a best-case typical-use claim, not a promise under every setting. Xiaomi rates it for up to 10 days with the always-on display enabled and 8 days in heavy-load mode. Think of it as a premium-looking fitness band with built-in GPS, not a full smartwatch with a broad app ecosystem.
A fitness band with a more refined finish
The 9 Pro’s premium impression comes from its materials and proportions. Xiaomi lists an aluminum-alloy frame with a sandblasted finish, a high-strength fiber-polymer body, and 2.5D cover glass. Its 1.74-inch rectangular AMOLED display has a 336 × 480 resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, automatic brightness adjustment, and a high-brightness mode rated up to 1,200 nits. Xiaomi gives the display’s narrow edges as approximately 2.2mm. Those features make the screen feel closer to a small watch face than the narrow panel on a conventional band. Xiaomi’s product specifications describe the display and frame.
The case measures approximately 43.3 × 32.5 × 10.8mm. Weight depends on what is counted: Xiaomi Singapore lists about 24.5g without the strap, while the manual specification gives about 40.4g with the strap. The standard strap is TPU and uses a quick-release mechanism. Frame colors include Obsidian Black, Moonlight Silver, and Rose Gold; leather or calfskin strap options and their availability vary by market. The included TPU band is practical, but it does not necessarily feel as dressy as the metal-framed tracker looks.

That distinction matters: a refined case and bright display do not make this a premium smartwatch. The screen remains compact, and buyers should not assume they will get the apps, calling, payments, or software flexibility associated with a full smartwatch.

Battery life: use the right number for your settings
Xiaomi publishes three endurance figures. The 21-day headline applies to typical-use mode; the other two are better guides for people who keep more features active.

Xiaomi’s heavy-load scenario includes an always-on display, high-precision sleep and sleep-breathing monitoring, all-day stress and blood-oxygen monitoring, frequent heart-rate checks, notifications, and movement recording. Frequent standalone GPS workouts can also affect your result. Screen brightness and how often notifications wake the display matter too. Xiaomi does not provide one runtime that applies to every combination of settings, so treat the figures as mode-specific laboratory estimates, not a guarantee.

The band has a 350mAh battery and charges through the supplied magnetic cable. Xiaomi estimates approximately 75 minutes for a charge under laboratory conditions. If low charging frequency is a priority, even the 8-day heavy-load rating is a strong part of the 9 Pro’s appeal; just do not expect 21 days while using every tracking feature continuously. Built-in GPS makes it more useful for outdoor exercise
The 9 Pro has built-in GNSS, supporting GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS. That means it can record a route without relying on your phone’s GPS, a meaningful advantage over simpler bands that use a connected phone for location. Xiaomi lists more than 150 sports modes, 15 professional sports modes, automatic recognition for six activities, running-posture recognition, ten on-wrist running courses, an electronic compass, and swimming recognition.

Specifications establish what it supports, not how well it performs in every situation. Xiaomi claims a 33% improvement in positioning accuracy over the Smart Band 8 Pro, but that is a manufacturer comparison rather than independent proof of route accuracy. GPS lock time and route quality can vary with buildings, trees, terrain, and conditions. The available specifications do not establish independent heart-rate or GPS accuracy, so serious athletes should not treat the feature list as a substitute for verified training performance.
Health and sleep tracking are for reference, not diagnosis
The band offers heart-rate, blood-oxygen, sleep-stage and sleep-schedule, and stress monitoring, along with breathing exercises and women’s health management. These functions can help you follow patterns over time, but the presence of a sensor does not establish clinical accuracy. Sleep stages are estimates, and a wrist-based blood-oxygen reading is not interchangeable with professional pulse oximetry.

Xiaomi says the band and Mi Fitness app are not medical devices. Do not use their readings to diagnose or treat a condition, or rely on them as a medical alert system. Anyone with health concerns should consult a qualified clinician rather than make decisions from tracker data.

The 9 Pro is rated 5ATM, and Xiaomi lists pool swimming, swimming near shore, and shallow-water activities among appropriate uses. That rating does not make the band suitable for diving, saunas, hot showers, or strong or rapidly moving water. Water resistance can decline over time, and the touchscreen is not designed for underwater operation. Xiaomi’s regional specifications detail the water-use caveats.

Phone compatibility and regional differences
The stated minimums are Android 8.0 or later and iOS 12.0 or later. The band uses Bluetooth 5.4 and the Mi Fitness app. Xiaomi flags some features as limited to Xiaomi or Redmi phones, so compatibility with an iPhone—or another Android phone—should not be read as a guarantee of identical functionality. Check whether the specific functions you care about, such as notifications or phone-related controls, work on your phone and in your region before buying.
Features, firmware, strap choices, warranty, and any NFC or payment support can vary by market. Do not assume that a version sold in one country has the same capabilities or support where you live. Check the local Xiaomi listing and confirm the seller’s warranty, return terms, and that any replacement strap or charging cable explicitly lists Smart Band 9 Pro compatibility.
Is the Smart Band 9 Pro still worth considering in 2026?
The newer Xiaomi Smart Band 10 is the obvious comparison. Xiaomi’s indexed UK materials describe it with a 1.72-inch AMOLED screen, up to 1,500 nits, and a battery claim of about 21 days, with charging estimated at about an hour. Those are Xiaomi specifications, and regional versions may differ. The 9 Pro’s distinct reasons to choose it are its built-in GNSS and aluminum frame. If you want phone-free route tracking and the more watch-like case, those advantages may matter more than choosing the newer model. If you always carry your phone and want a smaller, simpler tracker, Xiaomi’s Smart Band 9 is another option; Xiaomi’s comparison material says it lacks built-in GPS.

A Xiaomi France listing previously showed €59.99, reduced from €79.99, but that is a dated, country-specific sale signal—not a current offer or a guide to prices elsewhere. Check your local Xiaomi store, compare the 9 Pro with the Band 10, and factor in warranty and returns. A discount makes the older 9 Pro easier to recommend if its GPS and design suit you; at a price close to the newer model, compare local specifications and support carefully.
Who should buy it?
- Consider it if you want a bright, large-screen fitness band with a more refined frame, built-in GPS, everyday activity and sleep tracking, and fewer charging sessions than many full-featured smartwatches require.
- Look elsewhere if you need a broad third-party app ecosystem, reliable on-device calling, advanced messaging, confirmed payments in your country, medical-grade readings, or independently established training accuracy.
- Be realistic about endurance if you plan to keep the display on, use frequent GPS workouts, and enable intensive health monitoring. The 10-day AOD and 8-day heavy-load ratings are more relevant than the typical-use headline.
Review the official specifications and verify your local model and warranty before purchasing.
