Xiaomi launched the Watch S4 eSIM 15th Anniversary Edition in mainland China on May 22, 2025. Priced at CNY 1,299, it is the first Xiaomi smartwatch announced with the company’s self-developed XRING T1 4G platform, alongside independent eSIM connectivity, HyperOS 2 and anniversary-specific materials.
This is a China-market launch, not a confirmed global release. Outside China, eSIM activation, language support, NFC services, warranty coverage and some HyperOS features may not work as expected.
What Xiaomi launched
The Xiaomi Watch S4 eSIM 15th Anniversary Edition is a premium variant of the existing Watch S4 family rather than a wholly new smartwatch line. It comes in Black and Green Flame, with a PVD-treated aluminium-alloy case or frame, a forged-carbon bezel and Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 software.

The launch price was CNY 1,299. A temporary Chinese national-subsidy price of CNY 1,104.15 was reported at launch, but that was not the normal price and should not be treated as a current 2026 price.

Xiaomi’s official announcement describes the model as its first smartwatch using the XRING T1 4G smartwatch chip. The Chinese product information is available on Xiaomi’s Watch S4 specification page.
Why XRING T1 matters
XRING T1 is Xiaomi’s self-developed 4G wearable platform, including a self-developed 4G baseband according to Xiaomi. That makes the anniversary Watch S4 strategically more important than a routine special-edition refresh: Xiaomi is using a smartwatch to demonstrate its move toward in-house silicon and cellular connectivity.
Reported technical details include a maximum CPU frequency of 500MHz, an integrated 4G modem/baseband and an integrated video-codec module. Xiaomi claims that XRING T1 delivers:

Those percentages are Xiaomi’s claims, not independently verified benchmark results. “In-house chip” should also not be read as meaning that every component was designed and fabricated by Xiaomi. The defensible description is Xiaomi’s self-developed wearable platform and baseband solution.

Published specifications contain two unresolved discrepancies. Brightness is reported as both 1,500 nits and up to 2,200 nits, which may reflect different measurement conditions such as general or full-screen brightness versus peak brightness. Weight is reported as either 44.5g or approximately 49g; the available reports do not clearly establish whether the figures use the same strap-inclusion convention.
What the eSIM actually enables
With a compatible eSIM service activated, the watch can use 4G for calls and messages without depending continuously on a nearby phone. That is the practical difference between the anniversary edition and a Bluetooth-only smartwatch.
- Bluetooth mode: the watch primarily uses the paired phone for communication and connected services.
- eSIM mode: the watch can communicate independently where the carrier, account and regional software support the required service.
eSIM hardware does not guarantee universal cellular compatibility. Activation depends on carrier provisioning, supported account types and the Chinese-market software configuration. Xiaomi has not provided a verified US or international carrier list in the available launch material. An imported Chinese model may therefore support 4G technically but still fail to activate on a reader’s local network.

Xiaomi reports up to nine days with typical eSIM use and up to 15 days in Bluetooth-only mode. These are advertised or laboratory-style figures, not guaranteed endurance in every configuration.

Frequent cellular calls, GPS tracking, workouts, health monitoring, high brightness and poor signal conditions can reduce battery life substantially. The nine-day figure should therefore be read as an “up to” estimate under Xiaomi’s stated conditions.
HyperOS 2 and the Xiaomi ecosystem
HyperOS 2 gives the watch its strongest value when it is paired with other Xiaomi products and services. Reported functions include:
- Mi Home integration;
- remote smartphone-camera preview;
- custom watch-face and gesture features;
- control of compatible Xiaomi vehicles, including SU7-series cars;
- WeChat support on the Chinese-market version; and
- network-plus-Bluetooth outdoor walkie-talkie functionality.
Support is not identical across Android, iPhone and non-Chinese Xiaomi accounts. Voice-assistant and messaging-reply features were reported as Android-limited, while vehicle controls depend on a compatible Xiaomi vehicle and supported account. NFC hardware likewise does not guarantee that local transport, payment or access-card systems will work.

The watch includes continuous heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen monitoring, stress tracking, sleep analysis and women’s-health tracking. It also offers more than 150 sports modes, automatic workout detection, AI-guided running and Pro Ski Mode 2.0.

A further feature is cuffless blood-pressure estimation through the Xiaomi Health Research app. This should not be described as medical-grade blood-pressure monitoring. It is an estimation feature and does not replace a clinically validated cuff or professional medical advice.
The 5ATM rating is appropriate for swimming and shallow-water exposure when used according to Xiaomi’s guidance. It does not make the watch suitable for scuba diving or high-pressure water activities.

The anniversary model’s main changes are concentrated in connectivity, silicon and design:
- XRING T1: Xiaomi’s self-developed 4G wearable platform is the headline hardware change.
- Independent eSIM: the watch is positioned for phone-independent calling and messaging where carrier support exists.
- Anniversary design: forged-carbon bezel treatment, special branding and Black or Green Flame finishes distinguish it visually.
- Battery positioning: Xiaomi reports up to nine days with typical eSIM use and up to 15 days in Bluetooth-only mode.
- Price: the launch price was CNY 1,299, although a current price for 2026 has not been established here.
Many health, fitness and HyperOS functions belong to the wider Watch S4 platform rather than being exclusive to the anniversary edition. Its premium is therefore mainly about XRING T1, cellular independence and the anniversary materials.

Availability outside China
The confirmed launch was in mainland China. The available evidence does not confirm a US, European or broader international release. It should not be described as globally available.
International buyers considering an import should verify all of the following before purchase:
- whether their carrier supports the watch’s eSIM provisioning;
- whether the watch and companion app support their preferred language and account region;
- whether OTA updates will work normally;
- whether NFC payments, transport cards and local services are supported;
- whether iPhone pairing includes the features they need;
- warranty, repair and return arrangements; and
- whether the seller accepts responsibility if cellular activation fails.
Basic Bluetooth pairing may work outside China while the most important differentiator—independent eSIM service—does not. That makes the regional software and carrier situation more important than the hardware specification alone.
Who should consider it?
The Watch S4 15th Anniversary Edition makes the most sense for Xiaomi ecosystem users in China who want a distinctive Watch S4 with independent connectivity, long claimed battery life and integration with Xiaomi phones, smart-home products or vehicles.
It is a riskier purchase for international buyers who need guaranteed carrier activation, broad payment support, local warranty coverage or full iPhone functionality. The XRING T1 announcement is significant for Xiaomi’s chip strategy, but that does not remove the practical limitations of importing a China-market smartwatch.
