The XREAL 1S is a meaningful upgrade to the original XREAL One, not just a cosmetic refresh. It adds a higher-resolution 1200p display, a slightly wider 52-degree field of view, and a higher claimed peak brightness while keeping the One Series’ glasses-side spatial processing. Its headline feature is REAL 3D, which converts ordinary 2D video, photos, apps, and games into a stereoscopic effect in real time.
The important catch is that the 1S is still a tethered display accessory. It has no battery or independent operating system, so a compatible phone, computer, handheld, console adapter, or companion device must provide its video signal and power.
What is the XREAL 1S?
The XREAL 1S is a pair of USB-C display glasses in XREAL’s One Series. It places a large virtual screen in front of the wearer and adds glasses-side spatial features such as screen anchoring, follow mode, and 3D modes.

The X1 chip can handle the glasses’ spatial processing, but the glasses do not run phone apps independently. The connected device normally must support USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and provide sufficient power, which XREAL specifies as 5V/1A. XREAL’s connection guide lists the supported connection paths.

XREAL 1S versus XREAL One
| Specification | XREAL 1S | XREAL One | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 3840 × 1200 binocular, effectively 1920 × 1200 per eye | 1920 × 1080 | More vertical pixels for text, interfaces, subtitles, and productivity. |
| Field of view | 52° | 50° | A slightly larger-feeling image, but not a dramatic change. |
| Claimed peak brightness | 700 nits | 600 nits | Potentially better visibility in brighter surroundings. |
| Refresh rate | Fixed 90Hz, up to 120Hz | Up to 120Hz | Actual refresh behavior depends on the source and mode. |
| Color gamut | 108% sRGB | Not listed in the same specification table | A gamut claim is not the same as a guarantee of color accuracy. |
| Color accuracy | ΔE < 3 | Not listed in the same specification table | XREAL’s published claim; independent testing is needed for a definitive verdict. |
| Spatial processing | XREAL X1 chip, native 3DoF | XREAL X1 chip, native 3DoF | The main One Series spatial advantage remains. |
| Claimed motion-to-photon latency | 3ms | 3ms | Manufacturer specifications rather than independent measurements. |
The 1S’s strongest hardware changes are its 1200p resolution, 52° field of view, and 700-nit brightness claim. The lower U.S. price makes those improvements more significant: XREAL’s U.S. store listed the 1S at $449 on August 18, 2026. Pricing and availability can change by region and over time. Check XREAL’s current product page before buying.
The upgrade is less compelling if the original One is heavily discounted and your main use is watching video or playing games. The One may also receive REAL 3D through firmware updates, so the feature alone does not automatically justify choosing the 1S.
What REAL 3D does
REAL 3D takes a conventional 2D source and generates separate left- and right-eye views in real time. XREAL says it works with video, photos, short-form content, browsing, and games without requiring a special 3D file or a conversion app on the phone or computer. Processing occurs in the glasses.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThis is best understood as depth synthesis, not native stereoscopic video. The system estimates depth relationships in a 2D scene and uses them to create a sense of foreground and background separation. It cannot recover all the visual information captured by cameras recording genuine stereoscopic footage.
Results will depend on the source. Slower footage with clear depth relationships may look more convincing than fast action, rapid cuts, flat graphic overlays, dense particle effects, menus, or HUD elements. Games can gain a stereoscopic effect, but REAL 3D does not make every game render genuinely different images for each eye.

- YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
- ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
- 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
- LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
- WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.
How to turn on REAL 3D
- Connect the glasses to a compatible video source.
- Double-click the red X button on the glasses to open the on-screen menu.
- Select Spatial Screen.
- Choose 3D Mode.
- Select REAL 3D.
- Adjust the effect intensity for comfort or a stronger depth effect.
Update the glasses to the latest firmware before troubleshooting. XREAL’s support page and firmware resources are the appropriate places to check because firmware versions and rollout status can vary by product and region.
Display and spatial features
Why 1200p matters
The extra vertical resolution should be most useful for text-heavy work, web browsing, handheld interfaces, subtitles, and laptop productivity. It also supports a more comfortable 16:10-style layout than the original One’s 1080p presentation.
However, the benefit is not guaranteed in every scenario. The host device must output a suitable resolution, and perceived sharpness also depends on scaling, optics, fit, interpupillary distance, and how much of the 52° viewing area the user can see clearly.
There is also a specific limitation in XREAL’s documentation: when 3D mode is enabled in UltraWide Mode on the 1S, the display remains at 1080p. See XREAL’s UltraWide documentation for the current mode restrictions.
Anchor, Follow, and UltraWide
- Anchor mode: Holds the virtual screen in a fixed position, so it stays put when the wearer moves.
- Follow mode: Keeps the screen aligned with the user’s view while allowing a less rigid viewing experience.
- UltraWide mode: Creates a wider virtual display on supported computers and handhelds.
These functions use 3DoF tracking. In practical terms, the screen can respond to head rotation and remain anchored relative to the wearer’s view, but this is not room-scale 6DoF positional tracking. The glasses are not mapping a room or allowing the user to walk around a fully interactive virtual environment.

- Giant Virtual Screen – Immersive Theater Anywhere: Step into a breathtaking virtual screen up to 500 inches, transforming movies, games, and apps into larger‑than‑life experiences. Whether you’re commuting, flying, or unwinding at home, your personal cinema travels with you—bringing immersive entertainment wherever life goes.
- Premium Display Quality – Smooth, Sharp, and True-to-Life: XREAL 1S delivers ultra‑smooth viewing with a 120Hz refresh rate in 3DoF mode and a 90Hz global refresh that eliminates flicker and blur. Every unit is individually color‑tuned for precise, natural hues. The redesigned optical engine boosts clarity by 9%, delivering crisp detail from center to edge. Advanced optical alignment ensures each image point locks perfectly to your eye, keeping visuals sharp, vivid, and lifelike.
- Spatial Viewing Modes – Work, Watch, and Play on Your Terms: Shape your environment with XREAL 1S. Effortlessly switch between 0DoF follow mode, 3DoF anchor mode, Ultrawide Mode (32:9 or 21:9), Real 3D Mode, and Side-View Mode — ideal for both deep focus and entertainment. Pair with XREAL Eye to unlock 6DoF spatial anchoring, allowing for total freedom of movement while your screen stays pinned.
- Native 3DoF Spatial Screen – Plug & Play Freedom: XREAL 1S brings your AR experience to life with native 3DoF spatial viewing powered by the X1 chip. No apps, no setup — simply connect to any USB‑C DP‑enabled device and step straight into expansive spatial content. With rock‑solid stability and smooth head tracking, every session feels natural and comfortable, free from motion sickness and distractions, keeping you fully immersed.
- REAL 3D – Instant Spatial Depth for Everything You Watch: XREAL 1S debuts the world’s first on‑glasses REAL 3D spatial technology, instantly transforming all your content—from games and movies to apps and photos—into true 3D with a single switch. XREAL lists Mac and Windows computers, iPads, Windows handhelds, Steam Deck, and some Android desktop modes among common UltraWide-compatible devices. It lists iPhone, standard Android phones, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation among common devices that do not support the mode. Compatibility can depend on the exact device, operating system, and display configuration.

Device compatibility
| Source | Connection |
|---|---|
| Compatible Android phones and tablets | Direct USB-C connection if the port supports DisplayPort output. |
| iPhone 15, 16, and 17 series listed by XREAL | Direct USB-C connection where supported by the specific model and setup. |
| Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and similar handhelds | Usually direct USB-C connection with video output. |
| USB-C Mac and Windows computers | Direct connection if the port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. |
| Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch 2 | XREAL identifies the XREAL Hub as required. |
| PlayStation and Xbox | Require an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. |
| HDMI-equipped computers | Require an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. |
Do not assume that every USB-C port supports video. USB-C describes the connector, not the capabilities behind it. If there is no image, confirm DisplayPort output, use the supplied or a known-good full-featured cable, check power requirements, and verify whether the source needs a powered hub or desktop display mode. For consoles and HDMI devices, use the connection hardware specified for that device in XREAL’s compatibility guide.
Who should buy the XREAL 1S?
Buy it for travel, films, and handheld gaming
The 1S makes sense if you want a private, large virtual screen for a phone, laptop, Steam Deck, or compatible handheld when carrying a monitor is inconvenient. REAL 3D is a useful bonus for people who want to experiment with depth effects in ordinary films, clips, photos, and games.
It is especially appealing when the alternative is watching a small phone or handheld screen during travel. The glasses’ transparent or tinted optics can still be affected by glare, and built-in audio has the usual privacy and sound-leakage limitations noted in independent coverage.
Buy it for laptop productivity—with qualifications
The 1200p display is more relevant to text and interfaces than the original One’s 1080p panel. UltraWide mode can also provide a broader workspace on supported hosts. But this is not automatically a replacement for a conventional multi-monitor desk: the effective viewing area is limited, comfort varies by fit, and the number of virtual screens depends on the host operating system and XREAL software or accessories.

Existing XREAL One owners
The upgrade is most defensible if you value sharper text, the slightly wider field of view, the higher brightness claim, or want the 1S at a lower price than the original One launched for. If you mainly watch video and play games, and your current One already provides the screen size and spatial functions you need, wait for a substantial trade-in or resale advantage before upgrading.
Do not buy it expecting a standalone headset
The 1S has no built-in battery and still needs a host device for video and power. It is not an independent Android computer, a wireless display, or a room-scale mixed-reality headset. Buyers seeking hand tracking, 6DoF movement, and a self-contained virtual environment should evaluate a full VR/MR headset instead.

XREAL One
Choose the One if it is substantially cheaper and your priority is the X1 chip and native 3DoF rather than maximum resolution. Its published specifications are 1920 × 1080 resolution, 50° field of view, and 600-nit claimed peak brightness. It may also support REAL 3D after a firmware update, subject to current eligibility and rollout.
XREAL One Pro
The One Pro is the premium option for users who value a larger-feeling spatial display. XREAL lists a 57° field of view, up to 120Hz refresh, 700-nit perceived brightness, 3ms M2P latency, native 3DoF, and an 87-gram weight. Its U.S. store listed it at $599, reduced from $649, on August 18, 2026. The 1S remains the more attractive choice for resolution-per-dollar and text-heavy use.

VITURE and other display-glasses platforms
VITURE’s platform is commonly positioned as more software-oriented, with companion-app workflows, while the XREAL One Series puts core spatial processing in the glasses. That is a product-design distinction rather than a universal quality verdict. Choose based on the exact optical design, app ecosystem, brightness, field of view, prescription options, and host devices you plan to use.

A portable monitor
A conventional portable monitor is usually simpler for desk-like work and avoids wearing glasses, but it is less private, less convenient in cramped travel spaces, and does not provide XREAL’s glasses-side screen anchoring or REAL 3D modes.
Price and accessories
The XREAL U.S. store listed the 1S at $449 on August 18, 2026. The package shown by XREAL includes the glasses, USB-C cable, nose pads, cleaning cloth, protective case, and manual. The store also listed free shipping over $100, a 30-day return policy, and a one-year warranty; confirm the terms at checkout.
Additional costs depend on the use case:
- XREAL Eye: Listed as a $99 optional bundle add-on. It adds a modular camera and unlocks additional spatial features.
- XREAL Beam Pro: Listed as a $199 optional bundle add-on. It is a companion device for streaming and spatialized Android content.
- Prescription lenses: One/1S lenses were shown at a $49.90 sale price, with $149.90 as the crossed-out reference price when observed. Confirm prescription limits, lens type, turnaround, and return policy.
- Connectivity hardware: Nintendo Switch-family systems, PlayStation, Xbox, and HDMI computers may require an XREAL Hub or HDMI-to-USB-C adapter.
These accessories are conditional, not universal recommendations. A phone, laptop, or handheld with suitable USB-C video output may need nothing beyond the glasses, while a console-focused setup can cost more than the headline price suggests.
Common problems and fixes
No image
- Confirm that the source’s USB-C port supports DisplayPort video output.
- Try the supplied cable or a known-good full-featured USB-C cable.
- Check whether the host supplies enough power or needs a powered hub.
- Use the appropriate HDMI-to-USB-C adapter for HDMI sources.
- Test the glasses on a known-compatible USB-C laptop or handheld.
REAL 3D is missing
Confirm that the glasses are a One Series model, update the firmware, and open the menu by double-clicking the red X button. The setting is under Spatial Screen → 3D Mode → REAL 3D, not necessarily in a phone app. The source must also be providing an active display signal.
3D looks unnatural or causes discomfort
Lower the effect intensity, try slower footage with clearer depth, and disable the mode for text, menus, or fast games. Adjust the nose pads and fit. Eye strain, crosstalk, image instability, or persistent discomfort are reasons to stop using the mode.
UltraWide is not ultrawide
The host may be mirroring rather than extending its display, or the device may not support the selected aspect ratio. XREAL notes that mirror mode can preserve the main screen’s aspect ratio and prevent the expected UltraWide effect.
Outdoor use
XREAL lists three levels of electrochromic dimming plus auto-dimming. Strong sunlight can still reduce perceived contrast, so the 700-nit specification should not be treated as a guarantee of outdoor readability.
