Gadget Review’s August 7, 2025 roundup names eight Seiko entries spanning the Seiko 5 Sports, Prospex, and Presage lines, but it is best treated as a discovery list—not a verified current buying guide. Some entries cover multiple references or collections, and several specifications, prices, and availability claims have not been confirmed by Seiko pages available here. The clearest official specification set is for the Presage SPB495J1.
What the eight entries actually represent
The roundup numbers eight entries, not eight fully verified individual references. Its “Seiko 5 Sports SKX Update” and “Moon Eyes” entries lack complete reference numbers, while the Style60s entry describes a collection rather than one identified watch. Treat the names below as the roundup’s labels; confirm an exact reference before comparing listings or buying.
- Seiko 5 Sports SKX Update: Gadget Review describes a 2019 revival with bracelet and rubber-strap versions and black/navy or orange/yellow dial options. It quotes $425 for steel and $385 for rubber, and reports Amazon availability at publication. Those are the roundup’s claims, not verified current prices or stock. It does not provide a specific reference number.
- Prospex Marine Master SLA081J1: The roundup attributes a titanium case, 8L45 movement, 72-hour reserve, 600 m water-resistance rating, 600-piece limited run, and $4,600 price to this model. These details are not independently confirmed here: the Seiko-linked page returned 404 when accessed. That retrieval failure does not establish that the model does not exist.
- Presage SPB495J1: The roundup calls it an enamel-dial dress watch and quotes $750. Seiko’s official US product page describes the SPB495 as a Presage Classic Series Craftsmanship Enamel Dial watch inspired by its 1895 Timekeeper pocket watch. Seiko specifies Caliber 6R5H, a 24-hour display at 6 o’clock, approximately 72 hours of power reserve, a 40.2 mm diameter, and 10 bar water resistance. The page displayed USD 1,400 when accessed in 2026, a substantial difference from the roundup’s figure; the region, exact SKU, and price date must be established before treating either as a current price. See Seiko’s official SPB495J1 page.
- Prospex Alpinist GMT SPB493J: Gadget Review reports a compass bezel, sapphire crystal, 200 m water resistance, 6R54 GMT movement, a 500-piece Asian-market run, and a price around $1,650. Those details were not independently confirmed against an official product page in the sources available here.
- Seiko 5 Sports SRPL91K and SRPL93K: The roundup describes July 2025 releases with domed sapphire crystals, timing bezels, luminous hands, and a $695 price. The official Seiko URL linked for SRPL91 returned 404 when accessed; this does not prove the model is nonexistent, but the stated features and price remain uncorroborated here.
- Presage Style60s: The roundup mentions three dial colors, a 4R36 movement, 39.5 mm cases, Hardlex, and a $575 price without establishing a specific reference. Seiko confirms that the Style60’s design draws on its 1964 Crown Chronograph and combines vintage design with contemporary elements, but its collection page does not confirm those particular 2025 colors, specifications, or price. See Seiko’s Style60s collection page.
- Seiko 5 Sports SKX781 Monster / BEAMS: Gadget Review attributes a 42.5 mm case, 4R36 movement, and Japan-only availability at around $550 to this collaboration. The exact identity, specifications, and availability were not independently confirmed here.
- Seiko 5 Sports Moon Eyes / Moon Equipped: The roundup describes a black-and-yellow collaboration, 42 mm case, 4R36 movement, 100 m water resistance, an original $450 price, and sales through select Seiko dealers and automotive retailers. It supplies no exact reference number; the specifications and present availability remain unverified here.
How to read the practical-versus-luxury mix
The list combines distinct kinds of appeal rather than a single tier or use case. The SPB495J1 has the strongest official evidence for a dress-oriented option: Seiko identifies its enamel dial and historical inspiration, while its official specifications document the display, movement, reserve, dimensions, and water resistance. The Style60s has confirmed vintage-design context from Seiko, but the roundup’s specific 2025 configurations still need reference-level verification.
The Prospex entries are presented by the roundup as tool-watch choices, with the SPB493J described as an Alpinist GMT and the SLA081J1 as a high water-resistance Marine Master. Their detailed claims should remain attributed to the roundup until matched to accessible manufacturer specifications. The Seiko 5 Sports entries range from everyday or sports styling to collaborations, but generic names and missing references make precise comparisons difficult.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A bezel, a water-resistance figure, or a dive-inspired design alone does not establish suitability for a particular underwater activity. Check the exact watch’s manufacturer guidance and intended use rather than inferring it from appearance or a single rating.

- Match the listing to the full reference number, including suffixes such as J1 or K, and confirm the dial, strap or bracelet, and market are the same.
- Check the manufacturer’s page or an authorized regional retailer for current specifications, price, and stock. The prices in Gadget Review’s August 7, 2025 article are publication-time claims, not a current inventory check.
- For limited editions or collaborations, verify the reference and the stated market availability. A reported production limit or Japan-only release should not be treated as confirmed based on this roundup alone.
- For the SPB495J1 in particular, do not assume the roundup’s $750 and Seiko’s USD 1,400 US-page display describe the same region, SKU, or price date; the discrepancy is unresolved.
The original roundup is Gadget Review’s August 7, 2025 article. Its claims are useful leads, but exact-reference verification is necessary before treating all eight entries as confirmed models with current prices and availability.
