Its 39 mm case is framed by a larger 41.7 mm bezel, while a central chronograph seconds hand, 30-minute counter, and chronograph-state indicator give the layout its distinctive character. The historical hook is explicitly fictional: Albishorn presents the watch as an imagined predecessor to the French Army Type 20, not as a documented military commission.
A design story, not a French Army commission
Albishorn describes the Type 10 as an “imaginary ancestor” of the Type 20 and imagines that it might have been commissioned in 1948 as the French Army’s first official chronograph. That is the brand’s alternate-history premise; the Type 10 was not an actual French Army commission. The Type 10 Classic is the black-dial version in Albishorn’s Air collection. Albishorn’s product page lays out the concept alongside the watch’s specifications.
The Classic has a textured black dial, beige Super-LumiNova numerals, a red anodized-aluminum pusher, and a bidirectional DLC-coated steel bezel. The case is stainless steel, with domed anti-reflective sapphire over the dial. The dashboard-style design is more than a visual reference: its chronograph displays are arranged to make the watch’s operating state part of the face.
How the chronograph works
The proprietary ALB02 M is a manual-winding, monopusher chronograph movement. Albishorn specifies 21 jewels, a 4 Hz beat rate (28,800 vibrations per hour), COSC chronometer certification, and a typical 65-hour power reserve. These are the manufacturer’s published specifications.

With a monopusher, the chronograph is operated through a single pusher rather than separate start, stop, and reset pushers. Albishorn’s Type 10 manual explains the state indicator and operation. The arrangement makes the indicator at 12 unusually prominent: it communicates the chronograph’s state at a glance, while the lower counters handle elapsed time and running seconds.
Case size and wrist presence
The case measures 39 mm across, but the bezel measures 41.7 mm. That distinction matters: the bezel is the broadest visible part of the watch, so the Type 10 can look and feel larger than the case diameter alone suggests. Fratello made the same observation in its hands-on coverage. Its writer considered the 47.7 mm lug-to-lug measurement relatively standard and described the unusual crown and pusher positions as workable on wrist; those are the publication’s impressions, not a separate fit test.

The case is made from 316L stainless steel, and Albishorn lists water resistance of 100 m. That is a maker-stated rating, not an independent water-resistance test; the product information cited here does not establish testing conditions or usage guidance.
Straps, edition, and listed price
Albishorn says the watch ships with two calf-leather straps, one beige and one black. Both fit the 20 mm lug width. The manufacturer lists the Type 10 Classic at CHF 3,950 and describes the edition as limited to 99 pieces. These are Albishorn’s published price and edition statements, not confirmation of current stock; the cited product page does not establish whether taxes or shipping are included. Who the Type 10 Classic may suit
The Type 10 Classic is most distinctive for its alternate-history framing and its state-indicating chronograph display. It is worth considering if you want a hand-wound chronograph whose dial departs from conventional subdial placement, and if you are comfortable assessing wrist presence by the 41.7 mm bezel as well as the 39 mm case. The included pair of straps also gives the black-dial watch two different visual treatments without requiring a separate strap purchase.
