Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe Amazfit T-Rex 3 arrived in India in September 2024 at ₹19,999, following its IFA 2024 global unveiling. It combines a 48mm-class rugged body, a 1.5-inch AMOLED display rated up to 2,000 nits, dual-band GPS, offline maps, 10 ATM water resistance and a claimed battery life of up to 27 days. However, this is a historical launch: the official India product page checked on August 18, 2026 listed ₹21,999 and marked the watch sold out.
It remains most attractive to trekkers, runners and outdoor users who prioritise endurance, physical buttons and navigation over cellular connectivity or the deeper app ecosystems of Apple, Samsung and Garmin.

Rugged design: what “military-grade” means
Amazfit calls the T-Rex 3 military-grade and specifies operation from 158°F to −22°F (approximately 70°C to −30°C). Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent proof that every unit will survive every extreme environment. The watch has a stainless-steel bezel, polymer frame, four physical buttons and a 22mm strap accepting wrists of roughly 145–210mm.

- ULTRA-BRIGHT AMOLED DISPLAY: With peak brightness of 2,000 nits, the Amazfit smart watch delivers easy reading of maps and workout data in any light. Night mode and Glove Mode enhance visibility for clear viewing
- DURABILITY FOR EXTREME CONDITIONS: This rugged smart watch, engineered with a 316L stainless steel bezel, withstands temperatures from -22F to 158F, and is water-resistant to 328 feet and can be used for freediving to a depth of 147 Feet
- EXTENDED BATTERY LIFE: The Amazfit T Rex 3 offers over 3 weeks of power with typical use or up to 180 hours in GPS mode, providing long-lasting performance for hiking trips or outdoor activities
- PRECISION NAVIGATION TOOLS: The smart watch for men and women provides free global maps with dual-band positioning. Six satellite systems offer fast, accurate GPS connections and precise turn-by-turn navigation
- EXPANSIVE FITNESS TRACKING: This fitness watch offers 170plus workout modes and AI-generated training plans, providing real-time updates to guide your fitness journey from hiking to surfing
The 48.5mm case and 68.3g body favour readability and impact protection but can feel bulky on smaller wrists or during sleep. Standard Gorilla Glass is not sapphire and is not scratch-proof. Rugged construction also cannot prevent damage from severe impact, misuse or worn seals.
AMOLED display and outdoor controls
The 1.5-inch, 480 × 480 AMOLED panel offers high contrast and a dense 322 ppi image for maps and workout metrics. Amazfit quotes up to 2,000 nits peak brightness; peak output is not the same as sustained full-screen brightness in every condition. Touch operation includes night-display colour options and a Glove Mode designed for gloves up to 2mm thick. Always-on display and high brightness reduce endurance.
Battery life: every advertised mode
| Mode | Claimed maximum |
|---|---|
| Typical use | 27 days |
| Heavy use | 13 days |
| Battery saver | 40 days |
| Clock mode | 81 days |
| GPS Accurate | 42 hours |
| GPS Long Battery Life | 114 hours |
| GPS Max Battery Life | 180 hours |
| Low-temperature GPS on | 28 hours |
| Low-temperature GPS off | 32 days |
The figures are “up to” results under Amazfit’s test conditions. Always-on display, frequent GPS, high brightness, continuous health checks, notifications, Bluetooth accessories and cold temperatures can substantially reduce runtime. The 700mAh battery uses a magnetic charging base and has an approximately three-hour theoretical charging time.
GPS, maps and navigation
Dual-band GPS and support for six satellite systems are paired with offline maps, route-file imports, turn directions, topographical contours, ski-resort maps and slope information. Compass, barometric pressure, altitude, storm, tide and sun/moon data extend its outdoor toolkit. Directions can be read through connected Bluetooth headphones.

- BIGGER DISPLAY. MAX CLARITY: Active Max features a shine brighter screen with a 3,000-nit display engineered for ultimate clarity, even under the harshest sunlight. See your data clearly on a large 1.5″ ultra-bright AMOLED display built for easy readability in any condition — from the gym to the mountains.
- BIGGER BATTERY, MAX ENDURANCE: Go longer between charges with reliable power built for every routine. With up to 25 days of battery, the Active Max smart watch keeps up with your routine day and night.
- BIGGER STORAGE. SMARTER MAPS: With 4GB of onboard storage, you have more space for your favorite music and downloaded maps with turn-by-turn directions — all accessible right from your wrist.
- BIGGER TRAINING, SMARTER INSIGHTS: From strength sessions to long runs, the Active Max tracker adapts to how you train with 170+ workout modes and personalized Zepp Coach running plans.
- BIOCHARGE ENERGY MONITORING: Your BioCharge score adjusts based on your daily workouts and stress levels to help you understand when to push harder and when to rest, so you can train smarter and recover better.
Maps and routes are managed through the Zepp ecosystem, and availability can vary by region and software. Offline maps are not automatically equivalent to Garmin’s mature cartography or route-planning platform. Satellite accuracy can also suffer in cities, forests, valleys and other obstructed environments.
Sports and training
More than 170 modes cover running, triathlon, ultramarathon, strength work, hunting, fishing and freediving. Running tools include VO₂ max, recovery time, training effect, training load and performance summaries. Zepp Coach offers plans for 3K, 5K, 10K, half-marathon and marathon distances. Bluetooth heart-rate belts and cadence sensors are supported subject to compatibility.
A high mode count does not guarantee equal data quality in every activity. The usefulness of plans, exports and analysis depends on the Zepp app and on how well it fits your preferred training platform.
Health tracking and its limits
The BioTracker PPG sensor supports heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep stages, sleep-breathing quality, heart-rate variability and readiness. Temperature, acceleration, gyroscope, geomagnetic and barometric sensors enable additional measurements, including one-tap multi-metric checks.

Amazfit’s manual states that the watch is not a medical device. Optical readings vary with fit, movement, skin contact, temperature and activity; they must not diagnose, treat or rule out illness. Confirm concerning results with appropriate medical equipment or professional advice. Amazfit also advises consulting an implanted-device manufacturer about radio-wave interference and avoiding MRI or strong magnetic fields.
Smart functions and Zepp Flow AI
At launch, Zepp OS 4 introduced Zepp Flow voice control, a built-in microphone, speech-to-text replies, notifications, picture-message support where available and a mini-app ecosystem. Amazfit describes integration of OpenAI GPT-4o technology. That is a vendor claim, not unrestricted ChatGPT access: language support, account requirements, internet dependence, phone permissions and available commands can vary by country and software version. Bluetooth headphones can receive spoken navigation directions.
Water resistance and freediving
The 10 ATM rating and Amazfit-listed EN13319, ISO 6425 and GB/T 18828 freediving certification to 147 feet make the watch suitable for swimming and many surface-water activities. Laboratory ratings do not guarantee safety in every activity. Salt water, chlorine, hot water, soap, high-pressure jets, impact and ageing can weaken seals. Freediving certification does not make the T-Rex 3 a professional scuba-diving computer.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Phone compatibility and ecosystem trade-offs
Initial setup requires a compatible iOS or Android phone and the Zepp app. Watch faces, mini-apps, maps, route handling, detailed health analysis and much of the data history are app-dependent. The T-Rex 3 is not a cellular smartwatch; do not expect standalone calling or complete phone independence. Notification and reply behaviour differs between Android and iPhone, so check your phone’s operating-system requirements before buying.

Pros and cons
| Strength | Trade-off |
|---|---|
| Long claimed endurance | Actual battery life depends heavily on settings and GPS |
| Bright AMOLED and physical buttons | Large case and AMOLED features can affect comfort and battery |
| Dual-band GPS and offline maps | Navigation depth may not match Garmin’s ecosystem |
| Rugged build and 10 ATM rating | Not indestructible or automatically a dive computer |
| 170-plus sports modes | Mode quantity does not prove uniform tracking quality |
| Voice and AI features | Depend on software, phone and connectivity |
Is the Amazfit T-Rex 3 worth buying now?
Buy it when Indian stock is available at a price that reflects its age and your priorities: long battery life, a bright screen, physical controls, GPS and outdoor navigation. It is a sensible fit for trekking, hiking and general fitness users comfortable with Zepp.
Choose another watch if you need a small case, cellular service, sapphire glass, clinical health monitoring, the deepest training analytics or tightly integrated Apple Health, Samsung Health or Garmin Connect workflows. Amazfit’s newer T-Rex 3 Pro is positioned with sapphire glass, a 3,000-nit display and Zepp OS 5 in the listed product family, but its price and availability must be checked separately.
The Bottom Line
The T-Rex 3 is a capable, endurance-focused outdoor smartwatch—not a universal Apple Watch or Garmin replacement. Its value in India now depends on real stock, the live price and whether its large Zepp-based design suits your phone, wrist and navigation needs.
