Its catalogue specifications include 300 m water resistance and an automatic BVL 191 Solotempo movement with an approximately 42-hour power reserve. Published hands-on impressions describe a comfortable bracelet and a clean, legible dial, though one reviewer found the design somewhat plain.
Which Diagono Scuba is this?
The Scuba line dates to 1994, according to the GPHG model record. The 2015 relaunch was a later redesign rather than a specification update that can be applied to every earlier Diagono Scuba. Bulgari’s 2016 brochure says the newer model retained a tube-and-screw strap connection that the brand says its designers introduced in 1988; that is Bulgari’s design-history claim, not independent evidence of the collection’s start date.
Older Diagono Scuba and Professional watches differ in size and configuration. For example, Phillips catalogued a circa-2000s SD 38 S Scuba at 40 mm and an SD 40 S Professional at 42 mm. Those auction records illustrate the variation, but do not establish specifications for every vintage reference. Earlier generations also included chronograph and GMT versions, while the 2015-era release was a three-hand watch, according to ABlogtoWatch’s 2016 review.
Specifications of the 41 mm generation
Bulgari’s 2016 brochure describes this generation as a 41 mm automatic watch with a BVL 191 Solotempo movement, ceramic ball-bearing system, approximately 42-hour power reserve and water resistance to 300 m. These are catalogue specifications, not independent test results. The GPHG record for reference 102324 separately lists a 41 mm case, 300 m water resistance, a 42-hour reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The 300 m figure is a model specification, not confirmation that a particular pre-owned watch remains water-resistant. A vintage or used example needs its own condition assessment and water-resistance test.
Case, dial and strap options
Bulgari’s 2016 brochure describes steel and 18 kt pink-gold 41 mm cases, with black, blue or opaline dials and steel bracelet, two-tone bracelet or rubber-strap options. The combinations varied by reference and market; the catalogue does not establish that every pairing was available everywhere or at the same time.

The 2015 catalogue lists examples including DP41BSSSD, a steel case with black dial and steel bracelet; DP41BSVSD, steel with black dial and rubber strap; DPP41BGVSD, pink gold with a rubber strap; and DP41WSPGSD, steel and pink gold with a bracelet. What the hands-on review found
In a published hands-on review, Felix Scholz of Time+Tide described the later Diagono Scuba as comfortable on the wrist. He praised the steel bracelet’s alternating link directions and shaped ends, and found the dial clean and legible, if somewhat plain. These are that reviewer’s observations, not the result of testing represented here. The movement is hidden behind a solid caseback, as Scholz notes, so it is not on display through the back.

That assessment suggests a watch whose appeal rests more on a wearable bracelet and clear presentation than on an elaborate dial. Readers who want visible movement finishing will not get it through the caseback; those who prefer a restrained, readable face may find the simplicity a strength. How it differs from older Scuba models
The clearest comparison is the 2015-era 41 mm three-hand watch against the earlier, more varied Scuba family. Earlier examples can differ in case size and may add chronograph or GMT functions; the Professional name also appears on distinct watches. A reference number is therefore essential when comparing a listing, evaluating dimensions or looking up service information.

- Size: The 2015-era model is 41 mm; Phillips’ cited older Scuba and Professional auction examples are 40 mm and 42 mm respectively.
- Complication: The later release is three-hand; earlier generations included chronograph and GMT variants.
- Materials and wear: The later catalogue family includes steel, pink gold and two-tone configurations, as well as bracelet and rubber-strap options.
- Movement data: The BVL 191 and approximately 42-hour reserve apply to the documented later generation, not automatically to older watches.
Phillips’ archived lot 803 helps establish that older references vary, but an auction listing is not a complete technical record for the collection.

For a used Diagono Scuba, establish exactly which generation and reference is being offered before relying on specifications from a catalogue or review. Ask the seller for the reference, service records and a recent water-resistance test. The published 300 m rating describes the model when specified; it does not establish the present condition of an individual watch’s seals.
