Yes—on Android, selected Garmin data can reach Samsung Health through Google Health Connect. The practical route is Garmin device → Garmin Connect → Health Connect → Samsung Health. It is not a guaranteed direct, instant, complete, historical, or two-way Garmin–Samsung sync, so Garmin Connect generally remains the authoritative app for Garmin training data.
How Garmin and Samsung Health connect
There is no universal “pair Garmin with Samsung Health” button. The supported consumer arrangement uses Android’s permission-controlled Health Connect layer:
Garmin watch or tracker

Android Health Connect

Samsung Health
- Garmin Connect receives measurements and activities from the Garmin device.
- Health Connect provides the Android data-sharing layer and separate read/write permissions.
- Samsung Health reads permitted categories and combines them with Samsung and Galaxy-device data.
Samsung Health has supported Health Connect since version 6.22.5, released in October 2022. Samsung documents the connection and supported mappings at Samsung’s Health Connect FAQ. Garmin documents sharing Garmin Connect data with Health Connect at Garmin Support.
What you need
- A Garmin watch, tracker, cycling computer, or other device that synchronizes with Garmin Connect.
- The Garmin Connect Android app.
- An Android phone with Health Connect available.
- Samsung Health installed and updated, plus the required Samsung account sign-in.
- Garmin Connect permission to write the desired categories to Health Connect.
- Samsung Health permission to read those categories.
- Regular Garmin-device synchronization with the phone.
Health Connect is an Android pathway. It does not run directly on Wear OS devices; Galaxy Watch data reaches Health Connect indirectly through Samsung Health on the paired phone. This method should not be presented as an iPhone solution.

How to set up Garmin with Samsung Health
App and One UI labels change, so treat these as the current general route rather than immutable menu names.
1. Update the apps
- Update Garmin Connect and Samsung Health from their app stores.
- Install available Garmin device software and relevant Connect IQ updates.
- Update Health Connect if Android presents it as a separate app.
Samsung recommends the latest Samsung Health version and, when a Galaxy Watch is involved, checking the Health app version on the watch as well (Samsung FAQ).
2. Allow Garmin Connect to share data
- Open Garmin Connect.
- Open the app menu or More tab.
- Choose Settings.
- Look for Connected Apps, Health Connect, or a similarly named sharing section.
- Enable the categories you want and allow Garmin Connect to write them to Health Connect.
Garmin periodically changes Android navigation; its support page is the controlling reference for the release on your phone (Garmin Support).

3. Connect Samsung Health to Health Connect
- Open Samsung Health.
- Go to Menu or Settings.
- Select Health Connect.
- Choose Get started, App permissions, or the equivalent prompt.
- Grant Samsung Health read access to the categories it should display.
- Grant write access only if you want Samsung Health to publish its records to Health Connect.
Samsung’s documented permission path is Samsung Health → Settings → Health Connect → App permissions → Samsung Health. Read and write permissions are separate (Samsung’s Health Connect data guide).
4. Verify Health Connect
Open Android’s Health Connect settings. Confirm that Garmin Connect can write the required categories, Samsung Health can read them, and no competing app has priority for the same category.
5. Test one new measurement
- Sync the Garmin device with Garmin Connect.
- Confirm the activity or measurement appears in Garmin Connect first.
- Open Samsung Health and refresh the relevant tile or history view.
- If needed, use Samsung Health’s account-sync Sync now control.
Background and battery policies can delay transfers. Samsung notes that Galaxy Watch data may not appear immediately; opening Samsung Health, reconnecting the watch, or pulling down to refresh can prompt synchronization (Samsung guide).

What data can sync?
Samsung’s Health Connect mapping includes standard categories such as steps, exercise sessions, exercise calories, distance, heart rate, power, speed, VO2 max, nutrition, sleep sessions and stages, weight, body fat, basal metabolic rate, height, blood glucose, blood oxygen, and blood pressure (Samsung’s mapping). That list describes Health Connect and Samsung Health support; it does not prove that every Garmin device writes every category.
| Data category | Likely status | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Steps | Potentially transferable | Enable the category in both apps and check source priority. |
| Exercise and workouts | Supported in principle | A session may arrive without every Garmin field. |
| Heart rate | Supported Health Connect type | Confirm that your Garmin source writes it and watch for timing gaps. |
| Sleep | Supported Health Connect type | Stages, scores, and time windows may differ between ecosystems. |
| Weight | Possible through supported routes | Check direction and duplicate handling. |
| GPS routes | Must be verified | Do not assume complete FIT/GPX-style route preservation. |
| Training load, recovery, Body Battery, stress, respiration, laps, segments, and similar Garmin metrics | Usually ecosystem-specific | Keep Garmin Connect as the authoritative view. |
| Samsung body-composition measurements | Not automatically sent to Garmin Connect | Do not infer reverse synchronization. |
| Historical Garmin records | Not guaranteed | The official bridge is best treated as ongoing sharing, not a full migration. |
Samsung also cautions that Samsung Health activity-tracker data is not synchronized to Health Connect in exactly the same way as exercise-tracker data. A workout visible in Samsung Health therefore does not establish that its complete Garmin record, route, laps, elevation, or proprietary analytics transferred.
Does Samsung Health sync back to Garmin Connect?
Not reliably as a general official consumer feature. Samsung documents Samsung Health reading and writing supported data through Health Connect, but that describes Samsung Health’s relationship with Health Connect—not Garmin Connect’s ability to import every Health Connect record. Garmin’s public developer material focuses on Garmin Connect APIs and controlled integrations rather than unrestricted Samsung Health importing (Samsung; Garmin developer program; Garmin Health SDK).

Why synchronization can be delayed or incomplete
- The Garmin device has not yet synchronized with Garmin Connect.
- Garmin Connect or Samsung Health is restricted by Android battery optimization.
- Health Connect permission was granted for one category but not another.
- Samsung Health has not refreshed or its background process has been deferred.
- A Galaxy Watch and Garmin device are both writing overlapping measurements.
- The category exists in Health Connect but Samsung Health does not currently display that record type.
- App updates changed a menu, mapping, or supported field.
“Automatic” means the stages can run after each app and device synchronize; it does not mean instantaneous delivery.

- Confirm the record in Garmin Connect.
- Open Health Connect and check whether a new record exists.
- Check Garmin write and Samsung read permissions for that exact category.
- Refresh Samsung Health and use Sync now under Settings → Sync with Samsung account where available.
- Temporarily remove battery optimization restrictions for Garmin Connect, Samsung Health, and Health Connect.
- Sync the Garmin device again.
- If permissions appear inconsistent, revoke and regrant them.
- Disable any second bridge while testing.
Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance likewise emphasizes updating Samsung Health, checking permissions, opening the app after permission changes, and using Settings → Sync with Samsung account → Sync now (Samsung FAQ).
When records appear twice
Duplicates commonly result from Garmin Connect and Health Sync both writing the same category, a Strava import alongside Garmin, or simultaneous Galaxy Watch and Garmin sources. Stop one bridge, review Health Connect’s sources and priorities, remove or hide duplicates where supported, then test one new activity.

Should you use Health Sync?
Health Sync is an optional third-party bridge, not a requirement for the official Android route. Its developer advertises Garmin, Samsung Health, Health Connect, historical synchronization, activity filtering, and multiple source/destination platforms (Health Sync). It is worth evaluating when you need historical migration, filtering, or a platform direction that the official bridge does not expose.
It also adds another app, account connection, permissions layer, and privacy consideration. Exact directions and categories vary, and it cannot guarantee transfer of proprietary Garmin fields. Check the current configuration and vendor guidance at Health Sync’s FAQ and About Health Sync before paying.
Which app should be your source of truth?
Choose Garmin Connect for Garmin training
Use Garmin Connect for Garmin-specific metrics, training plans, recovery information, maps, courses, device settings, and detailed analysis. Garmin describes it as the app for viewing in-depth data from Garmin devices (Garmin apps).
Choose Samsung Health for Galaxy wellness data
Use Samsung Health when your priority is Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring measurements, Samsung-specific sensors, body-composition features, and Samsung’s wellness dashboard. Importing a workout does not recreate Garmin Connect’s complete analytical environment.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteUse Health Connect as the sharing layer
Health Connect is best understood as Android’s permission and interchange layer, not necessarily the best place to analyze training.
Quick Recap
Alternatives and practical choices
- Garmin Connect alone: Best when Garmin training analysis is the goal.
- Samsung Health alone: Best when Galaxy hardware supplies the measurements you care about.
- Health Sync: Consider for history, filtering, or more complex routing.
- Strava: Useful for sharing completed activities and social features, but not a replacement for sleep, continuous heart-rate, body-composition, or full health-history synchronization.
- Manual export/import: Suitable for selected historical activities, with no guarantee that proprietary fields survive.
Bottom line for different readers
- Want Garmin workouts visible in Samsung Health? Use the Android Health Connect route first.
- Want Samsung measurements inside Garmin Connect? Do not assume a universal official import path.
- Need complete history, filtering, or unsupported directions? Investigate Health Sync or manual migration.
- Use an iPhone? This Health Connect method does not apply.
- Use Garmin and Galaxy devices together? Assign one primary source per category to avoid conflicting totals and duplicates.
