Compatible Samsung Galaxy Watches can estimate systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and pulse in Samsung Health Monitor. The watch does not inflate a cuff: it uses optical heart-rate sensors and a calibration relationship established with a conventional upper-arm cuff. Samsung requires three cuff readings during initial setup and recalibration every 28 days, so the feature is for wellness and trend tracking, not diagnosis or medication decisions.
In the United States, Samsung began a phased rollout on March 31, 2026. Whether you can use it still depends on your watch, Wear OS version, Galaxy phone, Android version, app software and country.
How blood-pressure monitoring works on a Samsung Watch
A conventional monitor directly measures pressure-related changes while an inflatable cuff temporarily compresses the upper-arm artery. A Galaxy Watch works differently. During calibration, Samsung Health Monitor compares three cuff readings with optical sensor data from the watch. The app then uses that calibrated relationship to estimate subsequent systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse from the watch’s heart-rate sensors.
After calibration, you can take individual readings without wearing the cuff each time. The cuff is still essential because Samsung requires recurring recalibration. This is not continuous blood-pressure monitoring, and it is not a cuff-free diagnostic instrument.

Samsung describes the function as wellness monitoring rather than a tool intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, prevent or manage disease. See Samsung Health Monitor’s US feature page and the US rollout announcement.
Which watches and phones support it?
Samsung’s US Health Monitor page broadly identifies Galaxy Watch4 and later Galaxy Watch models as eligible, while excluding Galaxy Fit devices. A separate Samsung support page specifies a compatible Galaxy smartwatch running Wear OS 4.0 or later and a phone running Android 12 or later. In practical terms, model eligibility is only the first check.
- Watch: Galaxy Watch4 or later, with supported software. Galaxy Fit is not included.
- Phone: A compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone running Android 12 or later is the safest interpretation of Samsung’s US setup instructions.
- Apps: Samsung Health Monitor must be installed and updated on both watch and phone.
- Connection: The watch must be paired to the phone through Galaxy Wearable and connected by Bluetooth.
- Region: Regulatory approval and software distribution differ by country. An imported watch may not expose the same feature as a locally sold model.
Samsung’s compatibility documentation is at Use the Samsung Health Monitor app on your Galaxy Watch. Verify that Blood pressure actually appears in Samsung Health Monitor rather than relying only on a model name. Samsung does not present iPhone support for this function; do not plan on using it with an iPhone.

Is it available in the United States?
Yes. Samsung announced a phased US rollout beginning March 31, 2026. A phased rollout means two otherwise similar owners may see the feature at different times while app, watch and regional software updates are distributed. Availability is also separate from hardware compatibility: an eligible watch can still lack the menu until the required software reaches it.
International access has historically varied with local regulation. Samsung’s medical-device overview and its Ireland Health Monitor page illustrate why country-specific availability must be checked.
What you need before starting
- A compatible Galaxy Watch and compatible Galaxy phone.
- Current watch software, Android 12 or later on the phone, and updated Samsung Health Monitor installations.
- A third-party upper-arm, cuff-based blood-pressure monitor with a cuff that fits your arm. Samsung’s US instructions do not require a Samsung-branded cuff.
- A quiet place where you can sit still with your back supported and arm resting on a table.
Use an upper-arm cuff, not a wrist cuff. The cuff remains necessary for initial calibration and for every 28-day recalibration cycle.

How to calibrate the watch
Prepare your body and equipment
Samsung’s preparation rules materially affect the result. For at least 30 minutes beforehand, avoid smoking, bathing, exercise, alcohol and caffeine. Work indoors in a quiet setting. Make sure the arm and wrist are dry and free of sweat or lotion. Sit with your back supported, legs uncrossed and feet flat on the floor. Rest your forearm on a table for at least five minutes before beginning. Wear the watch snugly, not tightly, and choose the wrist you will continue to use.
Complete the three-reading calibration
- Place the upper-arm cuff on one arm and wear the Galaxy Watch on the opposite wrist.
- Put the paired Galaxy phone within easy reach on the table.
- Open Samsung Health Monitor on the phone.
- Tap Blood pressure, then Calibrate the watch.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and take three cuff measurements within 30 minutes.
- Enter each cuff value in the app when prompted.
- Remain still, do not talk and breathe normally during every measurement.
Calibration is not a one-time activation. Samsung requires recalibration every 28 days; Samsung Health Monitor also allows you to recalibrate sooner if needed. The stated calibration range is 80–170 mmHg systolic and 50–110 mmHg diastolic.

How to take a reading after calibration
- On the watch, open Samsung Health Monitor.
- Tap Blood pressure.
- Tap Measure.
- Read the prompt and tap OK.
- Wait without moving or talking until the measurement finishes.
- Tap Done, then review the result on the watch or in Samsung Health Monitor on the phone.
The display includes systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse. Samsung lists a current measurement range of 70–180 mmHg systolic and 40–120 mmHg diastolic. Those are operating ranges, not a promise that a value outside them is safely detected or medically interpreted.

How accurate is it?
There is no single accuracy number that can responsibly be applied to every Galaxy Watch, software version, population or measurement condition. The watch produces an estimate anchored to your calibration readings, so accuracy depends on a correct cuff measurement, proper fit, skin contact, posture, motion, timing and physiology. The sensor-to-pressure relationship can change, which is why Samsung requires periodic recalibration.
Use repeated readings taken under similar conditions to watch for a trend. Confirm an unexpected, unusually high or unusually low watch result with a correctly used upper-arm cuff. Do not describe the watch as “medical-grade,” “as accurate as a cuff,” or accurate within a fixed number of points without an independent validation study that applies to the exact device and software.
Common causes of unreliable readings
- Loose or incorrectly positioned watch, or using the opposite wrist from the one calibrated.
- Wrong cuff size, a wrist cuff, or a cuff placed incorrectly.
- Measuring within 30 minutes of exercise, caffeine, alcohol, smoking or bathing.
- Talking, moving, crossing your legs or failing to keep your back, feet and arm supported.
- Skipping the five-minute rest, or measuring with wet, sweaty or lotion-covered skin.
- Calibration values outside Samsung’s permitted range.
- Expired 28-day calibration.
- Outdated watch or phone software, incomplete app setup, unsupported hardware or regional restrictions.
- Interpreting one isolated estimate as proof of hypertension or normal blood pressure.
What to do when Blood pressure is missing
- Confirm that the watch is a Galaxy Watch4 or later, not a Galaxy Fit.
- Check that the phone runs Android 12 or later and is a compatible Galaxy smartphone.
- Install available watch updates and update Samsung Health Monitor on both devices.
- Confirm pairing through Galaxy Wearable and an active Bluetooth connection.
- Check Samsung’s country availability and whether the watch was imported from another region.
- Restart both devices, reopen Samsung Health Monitor and finish profile setup.
- If the option still does not appear, contact Samsung support.
Do not use unofficial APKs, region spoofing or modified Health Monitor packages. They are not official support paths and can introduce compatibility, privacy, update and safety problems.

Samsung Watch versus a conventional cuff
| Use case | Better fit | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Occasional home measurement | Validated upper-arm cuff | It directly measures pressure and needs no smartwatch calibration. |
| Convenient trend tracking after setup | Compatible Samsung Galaxy Watch | Follow-up readings do not require inflating the cuff each time. |
| Medication decisions or clinician-directed monitoring | Upper-arm cuff readings under clinical guidance | A watch estimate should not independently guide treatment. |
| Emergency evaluation | Medical care and a validated monitor | The watch is not an emergency detector. |
| iPhone ownership or no desire for monthly calibration | Conventional cuff or another supported platform | Samsung’s current documentation does not offer iPhone support for this feature. |
When buying a cuff, look for an upper-arm model with the correct cuff size and independent clinical validation. Validation is model-specific; do not assume every product from a reputable brand has the same evidence.
Should you buy a Samsung Watch for blood pressure?
It can make sense when
- You already own a compatible Galaxy Watch and want convenient periodic trend tracking.
- You use a supported Galaxy phone and live where Samsung Health Monitor is enabled.
- You are willing to buy, keep and use an upper-arm cuff and recalibrate every 28 days.
- You want the broader smartwatch, fitness and Galaxy ecosystem as well as blood-pressure trends.
It is a poor primary purchase when
- Your only goal is dependable home blood-pressure measurement.
- You expect cuff-free diagnosis, automatic continuous readings or medication guidance.
- You use an iPhone or do not want to maintain calibration.
For context, Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP sheet listed the Galaxy Watch8 at $349.99 (40mm Bluetooth), $379.99 (44mm Bluetooth) and $399.99–$429.99 for LTE configurations; Galaxy Watch7 was listed at $249.99–$329.99 depending on size and connectivity, and Galaxy Watch Ultra at $649.99. These are MSRP figures, not guarantees of current sale pricing. See Samsung’s Galaxy Watch8 purchase page, Galaxy Watch lineup, Galaxy Watch Ultra page and the March 2026 MSRP sheet. A validated cuff is the more direct and usually more economical purchase when blood pressure is the sole objective.
Safety boundaries
Do not use a Galaxy Watch estimate to diagnose or rule out hypertension, confirm a hypertensive crisis, start or stop medicine, or replace a clinician’s assessment. Confirm concerning readings with a properly used cuff and follow your healthcare professional’s instructions.
If you have chest pain, severe shortness of breath, fainting, new neurological symptoms or a severe headache, seek urgent medical care rather than waiting for another smartwatch measurement.
