What Apple actually offered
Apple announced the promotion on April 14, 2025, for Global Close Your Rings Day. Customers could pick up a special pin at Apple Store locations worldwide starting April 24, 2025, “while supplies last.” Apple did not say that buying an Apple Watch or another product was required to receive the physical pin.
The announcement described the pin as being inspired by the digital award earned by Apple Watch users who closed all three Activity rings on April 24. Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, said: “Apple Watch has changed the way people think about, monitor, and engage with their fitness and health.”
Did you have to close all three rings?
Closing all three rings was the requirement for the limited-edition digital award, animated stickers, and Messages badge. The physical pin was a separate store-pickup item; Apple did not state that customers had to show a completed ring record or prove they had earned the digital award. Store inventory, not achievement verification, was the stated limitation.

- Move (red): active calories burned.
- Exercise (green): minutes of brisk activity.
- Stand (blue): hours in which you stood and moved for at least one minute.

Is there another Activity rings pin event in 2026?
Apple’s reviewed 2026 announcements and store programming do not document another Activity rings pin offer. The practical way to watch for a replacement is to check new Apple Newsroom announcements and your local Apple Store event pages after Apple announces a future Close Your Rings event. Do not assume that a new event will use the same date, eligibility rules, inventory limits, or proof requirements.
What to check if Apple announces a new promotion
- Event date and the deadline for closing all three rings.
- Whether Apple Watch ownership is required.
- Whether the item is a physical pin or only a digital award, sticker, or badge.
- Participating store geography and whether supplies are limited.
- Any check-in, proof-of-achievement, or reservation instructions.
What the Activity-ring research does—and does not—show
In a 2025 analysis of Apple Heart and Movement Study data from more than 140,000 participants, Apple reported that people who closed their rings most of the time were associated with a 48% lower likelihood of poor sleep quality, a 73% lower likelihood of elevated resting heart-rate levels, and a 57% lower likelihood of elevated stress than infrequent closers. These are associations, not evidence that closing rings causes those outcomes. Apple said the broader study included more than 200,000 U.S. participants at the time of the announcement.
