Citizen US lists the BN7020-17E as the “Promaster 1000M Professional Diver.” Its specifications describe a J210 Eco-Drive movement, black dial, two-tone Super Titanium case, polyurethane strap and buckle, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, luminous hands and markers, date and power-reserve indicator. The listed case width is 53 mm and lug width is 28.12 mm. Citizen Canada lists the weight as 181.44 g.
Eco-Drive is light-powered: Citizen says the movement uses light and does not need routine battery replacement. The product information cited here does not establish a specific power-reserve duration for this J210 model, so the indicator should not be mistaken for a stated runtime.
Citizen Canada’s product description says, “Water resistant up to 1000 metres.” Citizen’s US specifications express the rating as 1000 m/100 bar and describe the watch as ISO compliant. These are manufacturer claims; the product pages cited here do not provide independent pressure-test documentation or identify the ISO standard edition.

How large is it, and what does that mean for fit?
The 53 mm case width is the main practical question before buying. It signals a broad case footprint on paper, but dimensions alone cannot establish how the watch will sit on a particular wrist. The listed 181.44 g weight is also worth considering if you prefer a lighter watch. Actual comfort and fit require trying it on, especially if you are accustomed to conventional-size dive watches.
The 28.12 mm lug width is a specification, not a guarantee that any strap of that width will fit. End shape, case clearance and fastening details matter, and the available product information does not establish a compatible replacement-strap model.

What the dive-oriented features do—and do not—tell you
Citizen lists a screw-down crown, screw-back case, helium release valve, one-way elapsed-time bezel with lock and wetsuit strap extender. Canada also specifies DLC and MRK coatings. These details describe the watch’s construction and intended equipment, but the product pages are not independent proof of measured performance or actual saturation-diving use.
A 1000 m rating is a manufacturer specification, not a dive plan or a recommendation that a person descend to that depth. It does not replace dive training, a dive computer or other required instruments. The supplied product information does not establish independent ISO testing, pressure-test results, timekeeping accuracy, lume duration or scratch resistance under test.

BN7020-17E compared with two other Citizen divers
The closest useful comparison in Citizen’s own range is not a ranking of quality: the models differ in size, rating, crystal and materials. The figures below are Citizen product specifications, not independent measurements or comfort assessments.

The BN0150-28E is the smaller, lower-rated option in this comparison. The BJ8050-08E, often called Ecozilla, sits between the BN0150 and BN7020 in listed case width and water-resistance rating. Citizen’s specifications do not establish comparative comfort, accuracy, service life, street price or value, so choose by the characteristics that matter to you rather than treating the largest rating as an overall quality score.

Is the Citizen Promaster 1000M worth buying?
It is worth considering if you specifically want a very large, high-rating Citizen diver with a Super Titanium case, sapphire crystal and the listed helium valve and bezel lock. Its case materials and feature set make it distinctive on paper. If you do not need those particular specifications, or are unsure about a 53 mm case, a smaller model such as the BN0150-28E may be a more sensible place to start comparing. There is no independent performance or hands-on comfort evidence here to establish that the BN7020-17E is superior in use.
Availability is region-dependent. Citizen Canada labels the model discontinued and sold out, while the US product page says temporarily out of stock. Those page states do not prove that third-party stock is unavailable. Before purchasing, check the seller, exact reference, condition, current price and warranty; no current comparative street price or verified marketplace listing is established here.

What to check before buying one
- Fit: Try it on if possible; the 53 mm case width and listed weight of 181.44 g are material considerations.
- Identity and condition: Confirm the reference is BN7020-17E and establish the watch’s condition rather than relying on a similar-looking Promaster listing.
- Terms: Verify the seller’s current stock, price, return terms and warranty before committing.

Verdict
The BN7020-17E is a compelling specification-led tool watch, but its 1000 m rating is not, by itself, a reason to buy it.
