The 2025 Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Selfwinding keeps the familiar 41 mm octagonal-bezel design but makes its calendar easier to operate: new Calibre 7138 lets the wearer correct calendar indications through the crown, eliminating the recessed case-side correctors used on the previous generation. Audemars Piguet launched it in stainless steel with a blue dial and in 18k sand gold with a sand-tone dial. The launch report lists 50 m water resistance and February 2025 prices of CHF 109,300 and CHF 130,000, respectively; those are dated launch figures, not verified current prices or evidence of present availability.
What changed in the new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar?
The new reference family is 26674, launched in 2025 with Calibre 7138. The central change is practical rather than visual: calendar corrections move to the crown, so the case no longer needs separate recessed correctors. The watch retains a 41 mm Royal Oak case and integrated bracelet.
Monochrome Watches’ February 25, 2025 launch report describes Calibre 7138 as an automatic movement built on Calibre 7121, with a new perpetual-calendar module informed by work on the RD#2 and Calibre 5133. Its calendar functions are arranged on a single layer. The report says the crown’s keyless works arrangement is covered by two patents; this is a description of the design, not an independent test of its operation.
How crown-only calendar correction works
The crown operates in four modes. Which function is adjusted depends on the crown’s position and, in the middle position, whether it is pulled out or pushed back. The arrangement replaces separate correctors for individual calendar indications.

- Winding: wind the automatic movement through the crown.
- Date and calendar year: in the relevant middle-crown mode, turn one way to adjust the date and the other to adjust the month and leap-year indication.
- Time: set the time bidirectionally.
- Day, week and moon phase: in the other middle-crown mode, turn one way to adjust the day and week and the other to adjust the moon phase.
The dial marks 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. in red as the period associated with the automatic date change. AP’s statement, reproduced by Monochrome, says that attempting a setting during this interval cannot damage or desynchronize the movement, although the date may not be corrected. That is the manufacturer’s claim as reported in the launch article, not an independently verified test result.
Other display details also change. Week 1 appears at 12 o’clock rather than week 52, and Monday and date 1 align at 12 o’clock on their respective subdials. A progressive-step date display uses 31 custom-made teeth of varying sizes. The day subdial includes a 24-hour indication. The moon-phase display depicts the Moon based on a NASA photograph; the launch report does not identify a particular NASA image or mission.

Steel and sand gold: what differs?
The two launch models share the movement, case dimensions, stated water resistance and general construction. Their principal differences are case material, dial treatment and the dated launch prices reported by Monochrome Watches on February 25, 2025. Both versions have sapphire crystals on the front and back, an octagonal Royal Oak bezel with six white-gold screw-shaped studs, brushed surfaces with polished bevels, and a triple-folding clasp. The hands and applied markers are 18k white gold with luminous material, according to the launch report.
Case dimensions and water resistance
Monochrome reports a 41 mm case diameter and 9.5 mm thickness for both references, with a stated water resistance of 50 m. It gives 20 m as the prior generation’s rating, making the reported increase notable alongside the removal of recessed correctors. A water-resistance rating alone does not establish whether a particular watch is suitable for a specific water activity.

Collection status and historical context
The February 2025 report describes both main references as additions to the permanent collection, while also naming two separate limited editions of 150 pieces each. Those editions have a vintage Audemars Piguet signature on the moon phase and special “150” caseback engravings. Permanent-collection status does not mean a model is readily available, and the launch report does not establish current production, inventory or waiting times.
The same report places the watch in a longer AP perpetual-calendar lineage: it says the brand released a perpetual-calendar wristwatch with leap-year indication in 1955, and that the first Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, reference 5554, arrived in 1984. It describes the 2018 RD#2 as a thin-movement development with calendar functions arranged on one level, and the 2022 Royal Oak Jumbo generation as the introduction of Calibre 7121. These historical points are reported by Monochrome Watches; AP’s priority claims were not independently established here.
